$25,000 Honda Civic (it was 30k new, 3 years ago)
$10,000 in savings/emergency fund
$7,000 in Roth IRA/mutual funds (Vanguard Target 2045)
I also have a ton of electronics, computers. books, etc. that would yield about 5k if I wanted to liquidate.

60k on condo
20k on car

I know I have a shit ton of debt, but my mortgage payments + taxes/insurance is only $800 a month.
I regret buying a new car... I was living with my parents at the time.
Also, thoughts on Vanguard target funds?

inb4 those aren't assets if you have debt attached to them. I disagree.

Jeez, half a million at 26? How?

I got to buy a 180,000€ apartment from my dad at 90,000€. So i was basically handed 90,000€. Then there also was a real estate boom. The 180,000€ apartment is now worth 270,000€ and have 30,000€ loan left

Then I bought an apartment for 135,000 now worth 180,000€ but have 110,000 left in loans.

I'm soon going to buy one more

ITT: Look everyone, my parents are wealthy!

Even if you guys had your incomes from the age of 18, there's no way you'd be able to afford the stuff you have.

Lets just be generous and say you get that 180k apartment for 90k 3 years ago (was likely more, if its increased by 50% in that time).

You're telling me you have 90k saved up by the age of 22? Ha.

I got it at 18 and of course I borrowed the rest from the bank...

Why did a bank lend an 18 year old 90,000 euros?

Also, what kind of bank has 1% interest.

By bank, do you mean 'dad'?

A bank that had a guarantee of 180,000€ for it's 90,000€ loan and at a time where the banks were throwing out money. Also I was working full time at the moment.

It's funny that you don't believe and you're so butt hurt. I clarified that it's two loans, One first apartments loan interest is actually0.35% at the moment, the second one at 1.5% so I just simplified it to about 1%. In my country we have a margin percentage and a moving percentage (Euribor) When the Euribor is high, the margin is low (when I bought the first flat the margin was 0.35% and euribor at like 4%). Now when the euribor is 0% or even negative, my interest rates are super low.

Just doesn't sound right to me.

Not butt hurt at all, i built my wealth from absolutely nothing, without wealthy parents giving handouts.

I'm happy for you and I respect people like you. I actually am trying the same I have been working hard to get my business working and I am turning a pretty decent profit this year. Only because I got 90k, it hasn't made me lazy. You however should drop your negativity torwards people that has gotten handouts.

Net worth around 180k euro

My cousin had 220k by the time he was 18. He was mauled by a dog when he was 3 and our Grandparents sued the shit out of the owner. 15 years of interest goes a long way.

He wasted every single penny of that money, but he had it.

FWIW, I don't actually start full-time for another month and a half, but the base salary is what I signed for. In a large market, so it's not great considering cost of living, but it'll grow pretty fast and I'm not exactly living in a shitty neighborhood.

I've been doing it for 10 years now, it depends where you want to go with it. I'm an IT Manager now, and it's quite different, lots of paperwork, dealing with vendors, managing projects, etc. I don't get my hands dirty very often anymore.

Really you have two routes you could go, specialize in something (networking, storage, virtualization, etc) or find a startup and work as a generalist learning to think on your feet. The former is better for larger orgs, the latter is better for smaller companies, or general consulting.

I can only tell you what I did which is a 3 year traineeship, after that I got lucky I guess and was immediately hired as an admin for a small/mid-sized company. I learned a lot b/c I do everything. Certificates wise a CCNA and a basic Microsoft or Linux certificate is a good start.

I feel I'm not really saving as much as I should be with my income. granted im living in NYC but the monthly savings of around $1.5k after 3.2k earnings (after tax and a small portion given to 401k) just doesn't feel right. could i be saving more?

What's your rent? I dream of living in NYC

only $1250 but I pay $750 (gf lives with me and pays $500)

typical rent in NYC is much higher but i commute from long island. hoping to move in soon once i secure a higher paying gig but anything comparable in brooklyn or astoria is from $1600 to $2000.

NYC has been great so far but its incredibly hard to get a job here if you dont already live and work here, or go to school here. super competitive for a decent job. id advise not living on long island, shit is like a super expensive new jersey.
