The left is about grassroots politics and societal change, something that can only really be done in countries with small populations. "Left" parties in large countries aren't truly left, as they've lost their revolutionary aspect and instead have simply been adopted into the mean stream political system. Look at what has become of the Labor party and tell me it's anything like what its ideals stand for.
