Solipsism

Why aren't the "skeptic" atheists of Veeky Forums solipsists? Are they dishonest?

Because believing in myself is one step too far

This, it's a pretty big leap of faith.

Do you have proof that I'm as conscious as you are?

Looking at your posts, there seems to be stronger evidence that you aren't.

Atheism is what requires a big leap of faith and the rejection of the solipsist position whilst calling yourself a "skeptic" atheist reveals your dishonesty, m'lad.

Because solipsism isn't falsifiable, my autistic friend

The I hold other minds likely due to evidence of such, just like I find God God unlikely due to lack of evidence of such (on top of gods not making fucking sense).

ayyy lmao

it's tru

>God unlikely due to lack of evidence of such

Don't know why I put a "The" there. 7's get?

>atheists memeing about autism

Correct, it just formed

>gods not making fucking sense

Autist tend to be atheists not the other way around. Keep meme-ing though

Just like the universe right? Nothing made everything amirite?

Nice disagreement there. Don't see rebuttals though. 7 get

I don't suppose you could outline for us why not being a solipsist is the same as believing a flying Palestinian carpenter made the entire Universe.

depending on how you define solipsists I could be called one.

however knowledge by its nature is not a thing that exists separate from the mind, so when your not dealing with existential questions saying "well you cant know nothin." does not matter, history is its own frame work with apriori, same with science. going outside the bounds of those fields with pure skeptical arguments negates what they are about.

Nope there was probably never nothing.
Nice digits. Still no God though (probably)

>when your not

I'm sorry my grammar mistake in a Veeky Forums post triggered you. But ask yourself how important that is in a place like this

Grammar Nazi

Don't say anything

UNLESS THE MISTAKE REPEATS

Because solipsism is fucking stupid. Why would you even argue for it? There is no one to argue with if you are solipsistic, you may as well not say anything.

>The creator of the universe is God by definition.

Begging the question.

>there was probably never nothing
Correct, because God Almighty is eternal, unlike the universe which He created.
>Still no God though (probably)
The creator of the universe is God by definition.

How can I be sure that my own agency is even real? All I know is that reality follows some kind of logic, and that's real enough for me. I don't have a reason to be solipist.

>The creator of the universe is God by definition.

So the Universe was created by God because God is the creator of the Universe by definition.

Don't you see a slight problem with this 'reasoning'?

There's plenty of evidence that folks are having a similar conscious experience as you in the empirical world. It's a simple matter to scan brains and prove that similar stimuli results in similar reactions in other's brains, just as they do yours.

Beyond the empirical world, you can't say anything one way or the other.

But one positive, and one unknown, still leaves you with a "most likely". Thus, it's logical to err on the side that you are not the only conscious individual in the universe. It's, indeed, illogical to assume you are someone simulating and compartmentalizing all of the universe in your head, when you have some evidence against it, and no evidence for it.

Not that it isn't possible, but unlike God, you have at least some empirical evidence for conciseness outside of yourself, and most extreme atheists tend to live solely in the empirical world, as anything outside of said, is entirely subjective.

Not that some atheists aren't solipsistic anyways, but there's a rather wide variety of atheist philosophies.

>stimuli results
spooks

Something can't be proven to exist by definition. Otherwise I could define anything I wanted to be real. It must be demonstrated a posteriori, which God hasn't been. Hopefully you learn this before you post this for the 1001st time.

Is air real?

If reality was a spook, then we couldn't have this conversation.

Though maybe we aren't and both I and everyone else in this thread just exists inside your head... Though I dunno what that says about you, when we extend that to all of Veeky Forums.

Yep.

Why?

It can be demonstrated a posteriori.

God too.

We're waiting.

Congratulations. Another shitpost.
Why is an atheist dishonest by not being a Solipsist? Why would believing that you and your fellow shitposters exist make me dishonest?

>For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.
Romans 1:19-22

Still waiting.

Just look around you dude.

Where?

Congrats you demonstrated the room I'm currently in.

What about it?

this

STILL waiting.

Because it's simpler to assume that reality isn't an extremely elaborate illusion in the same sense as it's simpler to assume god doesn't exist.

Neither side has proof per se, but neither does the antithesis. It's just the more intuitive of two unverifiable views.

Exactly.

Still waiting.

Solipsism predicts nothing and explains nothing.

The fact that we can't prove for sure that reality exists apart from our experience isn't a big deal, very few things are provable for sure.

However, when you think about it starts to feel almost meaningless for something to exist if you don't experience it.

There is no way my brain alone could generate such a complex universe. I know the kind of universe my brain alone can manage, I visit it every night when I sleep, and it's a world lacking in details or rhyme and reason. The actual universe is more complex than my brain, and therefore could not be the product of my brain.
