>living with parents, clueless drifter, rarely went to school, zero money

>get mortgage down-payment with money
>few years later, house has doubled in value, sell
>buy new house, shithole, renovate
>10k spent on renovations, house now worth 50k more, sell
>websites running themselves, money still coming in, house paid for
>party for years and years on end, have great life
>last few years panic, websites not earning enough, no rent/mortgage but need more money
>get into hard drugs, get in debt
>panic more
>end up having to sell house. cards/debts maxed
>realise property value here has increased disproportionately to the rest of the country. can now afford 3 houses in different area
>accepted an offer on my place, had an offer accepted on 2 out of 3 houses i intend to buy, can pay off all debts.
>once i have them i can retire in my new house, and live off the rent money from the other 2, while still receiving payments from overseas porn companies.
>enough to buy and fully kit out a 3 bed house, and buy a new car
>never worked for an employer in my life, no qualifications, about to retire in my 30's.

Anyone else get lucky?

Which internet sites?

proof or liar

ten years ago you could definitely strike it big if you knew how to make websites.

I would fuck her so hard, she'd be spilling my potent seed for days.

i had like 20 of them eventually. i started out with an 'E/N' site - entertainment and news or, 'everything and nothing', i.e random, depending who you ask. just links to stupid shit online, mixed in with porn. think orsm.net
eventually built a shitload of these
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thumbnail_gallery_post
and seemingly every day or two i'd get another 4-figure payment. i spent most of it on shit like partying, but did buy a house. not posting the exact sites, sorry.
how?
>ten years
actually this was in like 1999, when it was a true goldmine.

>how?

anything at all that proves this is anything but a plea for attention will be fine, thanks.

I'm just quite talented in creativity/design, which i guess is luck. So yep.

>was a huge neet growing up
>only job was at Burger King as a teenager
>went to university, got degree
>applied for jobs, got good offers, but decided i didnt want to work for big company
>tried starting a game company, got gov support money for new businesses
>got heavily into partying, drugs
>business failed
>lived in europe for 2 years, so fuckin cheap
>partying drugs sex endlessly
>went back home, totally broke, living with parents
>continue being neet
>made mobile games as a hobby
>one of my games went viral
>made over $10m
>am now 26, retired, set for life

>$10m
damn user. do you not work at all now then? i'm wondering if i'll get bored. imma need a hobby. thought i'd get into breeding exotic animals for beer money

I spend my time making games as a hobby (currently doing VR stuff), learning electronics/robotics, travelling, investing, seeing friends, learning to cook, etc.

It's interesting that i've kind of lost all of my NEET desires since the pressure of having to earn a living disappeared. It was like it was just endless procrastination due to fear and anxiety.

I still live a pretty humble life, but it's very relaxing. I donated about half of my money to charity too.

Also, regarding your image. I met my fiance when i was in Europe. I was super poor. It's really comforting to know that my money isn't why shes with me.

The difference is, the girls in the picture are attractive. Your "woman" is either pig-dog ugly, a whale or former man.

Damn, you hurt my feelings. Please stop.

what did you first buy when you were suddenly rich?

Nothing. I just sat with piles of cash for a while, then invested it. I now have it invested in a diversified portfolio, some property, some gold/silver, some cryptocurrencies.

I still drive a shitty old $5000 car, live in a pretty modest house, wear normal clothes, etc.

Jelly.

you should google "bigger pockets" you did it wrong, you should have taken the equity from the houses by refinancing and then purchased more rental properties to build your portfolio

some peoples lives don't revolve around making money to make more money to make more money.

I currently own a tech review and webshop site. I make about 3k a month out of it doing what I enjoy. So I'm ok. But I think I could be doing better.

What marketing strategies do you guys use online?

Currently have two app ideas one of which will be completed in 3-4 weeks. I'm studying electrical/computer engineering but I would hate the idea of working in computer engineering. Currently looking for some more electronic-based side projects.

>grew up poor as fuck... welfare and food stamps
>took out a ton of college loans to escape my shithole redneck town in '99
>registered 1000 good .com domains during the bubble
>turned a few into actual websites
>paid off loans
>dropped out of college
>slowly sold the domains off over the last 17 years
>making low 6 figures with the websites
>hot wife, 3 kids
>never had a boss, never will
>lucky

FUCK I JUST NEED SOME INCOME SO I DONT HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER JOB I TRIED SO MUCH SHIT

Awesome story. Congrats.

How has it changed your outlook on life?

Do you notice yourself having a spring in your step or any other qualitative improvement?

>not wanting to work at all for your money

A female kudu on the plains of Africa with her younglings. There as been a terrible drought lately, making food hard to find. The kudu must get more Life Points (LP) in order to keep her kids alive. How can she get more LP? She has to be more productive (making LP at a higher rate). That is the only ecologically stable way. And she can only be more productive if the plants around her are more productive. The plants have to find more LP to pay the kudu. The plants make their LP off of fungi & decomposer's LP. And the decomposer can only be more productive if the kudus are more productive.

Each person must be as productive as they can, or else someone else won't be as productive, and everybody's Objective Standard of Living will drop. Our goal as humans is to make the most LP for everyone, learn more new knowledge, and progress as a brotherly society so that we can leave Earth before a cataclysmic event. We need to be working hard so we can leave the solar system when the sun burns out. We need to study physics so that we can travel to other universes before this one looses all it's free energy and is nothing but chaos. Not to mention all the problems we are facing right now, like the 1 billion men women and children that are starving because they don't have enough LP.

You don't want to work for an employer? Fine, then start your own business. You're making a passive income already? Great! BUT: what do you do next? How can you use your time most effectively to make as much LP as possible to help humanity? What do you live for in life, if it's not helping your fellow man as much as possible? Don't retire. Do something you don't want to retire from.

I just want a passive income so I can DO the things I want and help people. I don't have the time to create shit when I am working and sleeping all the time.

I have a million things I would love to do but can only do one here and there over a year. It sucks

Read the Millionaire Fastlane.

Where tf do you learn programming and how build apps? Or has that ship sailed? I want a job I can telecommute with. Or work from anywhere in the world.

Youtube

What are you on about you fucking mong

what you're seeing isn't a qt3.14 grill, what you're seeing is a trap

that only works while the property values keep going up and once they drop you're fucked and all your mortgages are underwater.

hows it like being 14

we dont owe the world anything and vice versa, same with society, we do what we want if that includes investing in some research then gud if its just passing your days at home watching the blue sky then gud, if you like "working" and like the sense of productivity you may get from it then gud, if they dont give a shit about humanity or just want to party and do drugs then gud. Retiring doesnt mean stopping to be beneficial to mankind, you become more beneficial as youre nolonger doing some useless desk job that is only there so people would have a job and an ability to live.

Children in africa will starve even if we send em more food, it will get even worse since they spend less time dying and more time breeding, and it will have a greater toll on the rest of the civilized world, and in the end when we nolonger can support them alot more will die.

personally i just want to waste my time away, no point in worrying about humanity or earth as it will all pass, id rather spend my time being comfy and just live cause i do, if it becomes dull il do something else maybe cut down a tree or mine my backyard, learn a new instrument, get into a certain research field whatever passes the time to my liking.

so much b8ing itt
>oh, i was drinking&doing drugs/dropped out of highschool
>a magical fairy appeared and whispered in my ear: "stop doing it, just make porn sites&mobile games! :^)"
>lo and behold i'm a millionaire

If that was so effing easy. Literally millions of people around the world were making porn sites and indie games even 5-10 years ago (now it's x10 more people).
Only maybe a handful of them became successful, because there's can be only so much "viral games" and "top porn sites with a lot of viewers". What are the chances that EXACTLY these few successful people are sitting itt? Why the fuck would real millionaires visit /biz?!

Build it and they will come.

this. fuck you liars.

>It's interesting that i've kind of lost all of my NEET desires since the pressure of having to earn a living disappeared. It was like it was just endless procrastination due to fear and anxiety.

Can you please expand on this statement? Please be as precise as possible. Seems vaguely familiar...

Was this in iOS or Android? How viral did it go exactly? How was it monetized? Do you only do games now? Were you acquired or something?

>28 here
>50 apps in portfolio
>4m+ downloads

>actually this was in like 1999, when it was a true goldmine.

Ah ok, so this is akin to hitting the lottery more or less. I literally knew 12 year olds with sites making around $6k around this time into early 2000's.

I've always been a very positive person with a smile on my face. It didn't change that.

I have a lot of hobbies. However, i'm not the kind of person who gets 'bored' in a negative way. I think being bored is a blessing, and there's nothing nicer than sitting back with a beer, and just thinking about stuff.

I've always been a big procrastinator. I only went to school 1-2 times per week, and was not much better at university. I guess my point is that i never had a good work ethic.

NEET status really kicked in after i finished university. I just had a strong desire to sit around doing nothing but play video games all day. I really WANTED to be outgoing, have hobbies, and so on... but it was just overriden by NEET desires.

Now that i no longer have financial/job/etc stresses overhead, i've found most of those NEET urges have completely disappeared. I still enjoy video games from time to time, but it's no longer an inescapable lifestyle.

I guess i was just trying to stay away from a lifestyle i never wanted to live.

iOS and Android.

It was at the top of the HOT lists for a few weeks.

Talking about it's monetization may reveal the game, so i'd rather not say.

I didn't really have a company. I had someone doing art and sound for me, but that was it. Was not acquired.

I make games as a hobby now, but i'm doing more experimental VR stuff.

Congrats on all your hard work. May i ask how profitable that has been for you? It was the path i thought i was heading down, but i got lucky.

I make a living with it and have had offers to acquire a few apps but no where near your level of success. Hoping to build up my main performers bigger and sell/get acquired at some point. How long ago did it go viral? Was in the beginning of the App Store?

Also are the apps still earning $ or did it dry up quick? I really need to start grinding more man god damn.

And also congrats man im stoked you made it

Published the app in 2014.

It's still earning money, but nothing compared to what it used to.

Thanks! All the best to you!

How long did it take you to get from learning to code to making that app?

I did ComSci at university. I had never even seen code in my life before i started my degree. So... about 5 years.

youre literally the definition of autism.

learning to cook as a millionaire is probably the most embarassing shit ive ever read didnt even have to see it irl

Better than working, faggot

Lol keep hating dick head.

If you had to offer someone advice on how to "get lucky" with making a viral app, what advice would you give?

Uh... have a good idea? If I knew how to hit gold again, I'd be doing it again.

I guess my actual answer is to make something that you think is awesome. Don't focus on trends, or trying to appeal to large audiences, or monetization.... focus on having fun with your project, and creating something you love. That will really shine through.

There's nothing more embarrassing than a man who cannot cook for himself.

Expecting others to cook for you is on par with refusing to walk because you're rich, and paying someone to push you around in a wheel chair.

>how to "get lucky"
more about motivation and skill than it is luck. if developing is your hobby and you're not just doing it for the money, you'll eventually create something beautiful.

Top pleb

He might be just humble bragging to make it look effortless, but he probably worked hard. Also
