Thoughts on cheap suit for a total price around $475? It's 100% wool at least, don't really know about the whole slim fit thing but I'm kind of skinny. The vest is pretty weird, looks a bit tight but I kind of like it. I wouldn't wear a pocket watch though, too cosplay like.

I've never bought a suit from online before, I imagine there's a whole lot of tailoring needed.

So far I only have a cheap polyester blend (ugh) black suit with a vest. I rarely need to use it, the most formal I need is usually a navy blazer with chinos (fortunately the blazer and chinos are good quality)

Soon I think I'm going to buy a suit that's at least not polyester, what colour should I go for? Do you advice against ordering from online, even if I visit a tailor?

If it's available, Amazon's Franklin Tailored (the 100% wool or wool/silk blend coats and suits; avoid the linen ones or other blends) line is a great value. The coats with patch pockets are Italian and a decent quality, and the ones with flap pockets are Canadian (I *think* they're Jack Victor, but I'm not 100% sure). Their pricing rubber bands all over the place - you can get stuff for $50 to $300 or so, and the same piece will go back and forth. If you can grab one of the Canadian or Italian suits for under $100, definitely do it.

Otherwise, ebay for known labels.
