How representative of the general market is after-hours trading? I'm very new to this. I bought into KMPH and after-hours stock shot up to $7.50 with very low volume and then proceeded to crash on open. Now PTX is running high after hours. I imagine the stock is a lot easier to manipulate, but it did break through resistance point of .63. Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'm not too concerned, I only have $35 in. Unless something significant happens I'm probably going to hold.

Because the issuing of new shares will dilute the value of existing shares. For example. a company is valued (market cap) at 1 million dollars. it has 1 million shares outstanding. Thus each share is worth $1. Now lets suppose they issue 1 million more shares. The Market cap is still 1 million, but it is now divided by 2 million shares, making each share worth only $0.50. Thus large amounts of dilution will destroy the existing value of shares.
