Literally who fucking cares if it's good from a cinematic standpoint

Let me stop you right there a that title already belongs to The Patriot.

but neither of these films were attempting to be historically accurate

Pretty sure that title belongs to Star Wars.

>implying you know what happened in a galaxy far far away

I love history and I love this movie. Even the poster on pastebin in the OP says that he enjoyed the movie. Just induldge. It's not meant to be an accurate representation of what happened. If I wanted to learn about history I would open a fucking book.

Still a great movie that women will never understand

>they're all perfect

>they're all perfect

It was obviously Jedi propaganda.

...

Look at the extras dvd for the Patriot they say like in every two sentences that since it was such an important time in history the wanted to make it as accurate as possible.

That's not Braveheart.

Pretty much nothing Mad Mel has been involved with can be called historically accurate.

That title belongs to Enemy at the Gates

that doesn't mean anything. it's just a form of advertisement to convince amerifats that the war of independence was like an action film

Still one of my favourite movies.

What movie is the MOST historically accurate?

Waterloo?

Gandhi

Samurai not using guns, doesn't show the corruption or opression the samurai bring, Tom Cruise is playing an american instead of a french guy.
Does it really portray that many more big historical inaccuracies than this?

The Samurai haven't called their troops, no one is in uniform, the movie clearly can't decide if it is about the boshin war or the satsuma rebellion, the only historical figure they got right was Saigo except he's out of uniform and doesn't seem to know shit about modern warfare even though he was one of japan's best modern officers at the time

Waterloo easily. Even the marching is period accurate.

Well I thought it was always obvious it was supposed to be a fictional story about a fictional daimiyo and his fictional clan. Ken Watanabe's character which I assume you mean when you say Saigo probably wasn't in a modern uniform to accentuate the fact that he's of the old ways, in the same way they chose not to give the samurai any guns. It becomes more distinct that way, which is why I'm fine with it.

Has anyone seen When the last sword is drawn? Thought that was a pretty good movie set in the same era.

Some movie about a recent war directed with veteran technical advisors

How about American Sniper?

I don't think Chris Kyle's baby was made of plastic so they lose points right there.

The Woods are still Green.
It's an austro-slovenian movie about an observation post in the Alpine front during WW1.
It's extremely boring.

" A story about a group of Austria-Hungarian soldiers in the 1st World War. They hold an artillery post in the mountains on the southern front to Italy. The group is cut off from their own troops and under heavy artillery fire from the Italian. When the post receives a fatal direct hit from a shell, killing the comrades, private Jacob Lindner and the seriously injured captain Jan Kopetzky are the only survivors of the post. Jakob has to suffer the madness of this hellish war in all its human atrocities. Without care, help from the command, food and water, to survive becomes an existential challenge. The young soldier tries desperately with humanity and dignity to save his and the injured captains life."
