How the hell do you people afford some of the clothes I see here? I see people wearing shit like Rick Owens, Raf Simons and whatever. I'm assuming most of you guys are young and either haven't or just started an actual career-type job. How can some of you who aren't particularly wealthy be able to afford a pair of Geobaskets or Ramones, or whatever is pricey?

People that buy "luxury" clothes are usually poor/suburban tier that want to look rich

So, they just spend most of their income on clothes.

I go to a community college (it's nice for a community college but it's still a community college regardless so it's obviously not filled with rich kids). I saw a dude a few months ago wearing an Off White bomber jacket. That's something I assume is $1000+. The highest end thing I own in terms of value is probably a pair of Nike Off White Zoomflys. And I was only able to get those because I was lucky enough to win a raffle and was able to pay retail for it.

Meanwhile I often see shit like Off White Jordan 1s and other expensive hyped up shit in the best selling lists on websites despite costing $500-$1000+ resale. I see so many young people on Instagram posting fit pics in Stone Island and expensive techwear. Are there more rich kids then I thought they were? Are they being dumb and spending money they don't have? I don't get it.

>rich parents
>second hand markets
>resell culture
>fakes/bootlegs
>have a job and save up
>buy less but better

Kinda how i fell into the buying better meme. Realizing that for $150-200 or so I can either buy a new Zara item OR get a BNWT designer item off the second hand market or auctions

You don't have to be wealthy. I am just a school teacher who makes about 40k a year, but I buy designer. For a single guy with no dependents and no debt making 40k a year, 1,000+ dollar pieces are not that much in reality.

You sound very very young to not understand this. Like a 5 year old getting wide eyed over the sight of a 100 dollar bill, which isnt really that much money. Not dissing you or calling you a five your old it's just an analogy I mean no offense. I am guess you are a teenager is all.

Having a regular non wage slave McJob is sufficient for buying designer if thats what you choose.

I know it's Veeky Forums but not everyone is straight up broke.

I got some yohji, issey and cdg from rakuten. I'm an uni student

grailed and deals. stop being a stupid bitch paying for retail

Once you get a job and have some disposable income it's not really hard to buy the stuff you want, even if it means saving up. Also most stuff you see around is probably second hand off grailed.

You underestimate the poor's ability to spend money on stupid thing.

They all became quadroonionaires off bitcoin

grailed is my best friend

get a job, use grailed/ebay for rare shit and credit card for retail cops u cant find secondhand

Shopping well is a skill, it requires research and practice in the field.

I live at my parents house and don't have to pay them rent.

I am 7yrs into my career post college, so my salary is enough to buy these pieces without having to wait for sales.

33yo here.
I still look odd at 100 euro bills. Why? Simple, most stores don't accept 100+ bills due to change and robbery issues, so most people don't bother with those bills. If you want to pay large items. Debit cards or just a wad of 50 notes.

>have a job that leaves me with 200€ to spend on clothes each month
>stick to one style you really like and have warderobe where most stuff works with each other
>get rare designer I like and that works with my style on sale during winter and summer or second hand
It's just wise shopping. I never payed more than 500€ for an item.

You kinda missef the point of what he’s saying. Yes big bills are “rare” but thats not related to dropping the same amount while shopping (either online or otherwise).

Parents are rich and they give me all my money

this also the government giving me money just because i am a student attending uni in combination with some money from parents and work and a little bit knowing how to save up and where and when to buy things desu

Guys how fucked am I? I make $11 an hour in retail, my monthly bills are a couple of hundred, I am seasonal so have about 4 months when I don't work.

I occasionally date mentally psychotic girls with huge disposable incomes, this one bought me... ~1500 in decent clothes and took me to maaad 3 star restaurants.

Eventually their insanity will drive you off, but it's a free ride until then!

> 7 years post college
> buys expensive clothes instead of moving out of his parents' house

What a gigantic faggot

>Gigs
>Soundtracking
>Doing peoples papers for them
>Spanish Lessons.
>Electronic repair.
>Reselling vintage clothing to yuppies.
>Holding rare books ransom

Just obtain as many niche skills as possible then capitalise on them.

Almost no one here pays retail.

ALso it is actually pretty easy as a student to get substantial disposable income for clothing. All you need is to save up a bit with summer jobs and / or birthday / Christmas / whatever occasion presents.

This

Get your ass to college so you can find a real job. Retail work is not a career.

Why don't you get another job in those 4 months.

Can't I cont have a a GED, I had to drop out to look after my father, who is now dead.

I am exhausted by the end of it and need the time off, do have a lodger who gives me money so I am not totally without.

>I occasionally date mentally psychotic girls with huge disposable incomes,
same but my bitches be poor :(

Yeah, I'm the faggot/loser am i?

I don't have to spend money on rent or bills, get most of my meals for free, get most of my laundry done for free, and can afford grail clothes...

Such a loser! Lel

What do you do to get laid/have a girl over?

I still live at home but earn £1500 a month after taxes and stuff, my only outgoing is transport. I usually wait for sales or use Amex points to purchase gift cards. Tbh I don't really buy much, this month I spent £400 but thats at least double the norm

Aim for the stars, my friend. There's no feeling quite like waking up at 6PM on a weekday, only to find that she's home from work and is cooking you dinner. It's like all the crazy is worth it, just for a minute...

I am 24 and make $100k a year. After NYC jew taxes and rent I have about $2.4k to do whatever I want every month (working on making that number bigger). While I save most of my money, I can easily afford most clothes I want with that amount.

I do a lot of second hand buying though. I rarely pay more than $400 for stuff.

>After NYC jew taxes and rent

if you dont want to support Maria and her 7 children + 100 billion foreign wars youre a fucking bigot nazi

i need gf like this

date an asian girl that isnt whitewashed

You are only digging yourself a deeper hole.

Lel... Ok

>a school teacher

Perfect of example of worthless people trying to appear interesting by buying overpriced stuff.

He doesn't. He's an old loser that still tries to dress like a 15 year old and has no agency of his own.

Don't worry, i get girls.

And I even use escorts with the money I've saved not giving it to some jew bank or landlord

A job is a job.

I sell weed and pimp my wife. Not even joking, bro.

Damn man.

What's your job? And you really think teachers are "worthless?"

That can work, but if you do that, there's a good chance she won't be the sort of well-heeled bipolar shitstorm I seem to end up sleeping next to so often

Abuse sales
Buy less clothing in general and save for good shit
das it

Average pleb designer like Alexander wang etc can be worn by anyone, 99% of people won't even know it's designer.

For rick and other avant garde stuff, it's a LIFESTYLE as well as a piece of clothing, NOTHING is more embarassing than being some middle class runt living in suburbia walking around in rick owens, rick is for rich af people living in penthouses and driving supercars

comments like these always make me wanna buy basic rick uniform just pose and take pics at suburbs
projecting lifestyle this hard to something someone wears is so silly and as far as any kinda 'brand philosophy' rick has, you are so much off the mark it's funny

>rick is for rich af people living in penthouses and driving supercars
You very clearly have no clue what rick owens is about

>But labels are very much about buying into a poetic vision and being part of something.

You guys sound really jealous and american. Just because it's the norm for parents to drop their child off on their own at 18 doesn't mean civilized places treat their offspring that way

>rick is for rich af people living in penthouses and driving supercars

Nah man. That's off the mark significantly.

its called a hobby. and there are even more expensive ones than clothes. its not like ppl here are wearing all visvim.

What is rick all about, then?

this tbqh

Do you really need to be spoonfed to this extent ?

It's not that you keep dating crazy women. That's just how all women are. I personally hate women but still date them because I like the chaos and find it fun.

its sad to me that you would say a teacher is worthless. very sad

Rick would want you to buy his clothes and live in a stone gay chic cave no memeing but have high end tech at your disposal

You can buy an off white jacket for 50 or less and it will look just as good to be honest

A fake of course, just go through DhGate or Wish, be careful with the sizes

cmon, who gives a shit. he probably just got his head put into the toilet and no one helped him, not even the teachers. it's the internet.

u sound very american right now

Wiser men than myself have said as much to me in the past. I think you're right, and it's taken me a long time to say that.

Am I also right to think that it's if this is the way things are, and the problem essentially lies with me & the way I react to the shit testing & thottery and NOT the behaviors themselves?

What's the smartest realization to work towards?

Definitely not sportscars and penthouses. More like Donald Judd shows and sodomy dungeons.

>40k a year
>not wealthy
you are a fucking retard, fuck you

Yes you are. Get your priorities straight. Buying luxury goods instead of moving in to your own place...this generation is so fucked.

post them if you find the time, i'm interested

40k a year is really shit tier in some places like the US. Here in Chile is like the average for new graduates of top tier careers (except for doctors) like lawyers or engineers.

Depending on where you are in the US it is comfortable. Poor in NYC or SF but quite comfortable in many places.

What do you do

He's a drugdealer

Doubt hed pay taxes then, or at least not as much

reps

Credit. If you're responsible and treat your wardrobe as an investment (buy items you can resale later) you can dress nice without breaking yourself. But most of the time people just rack up a lot of debt that they can't pay off.

This is pretty shitty advice. Almost nothing outside of Supreme box logos and certain sneakers appreciate significantly in value if at all. You will break even or take a loss selling most things.

RAF SIMONS RICK OWENS USUALLY WHAT IM DRESSED IIN

programmer/"software engineer" at a startup. really not hard to make six figures in NYC in software or finance.

Mainly because six figures is pretty much required just to not be poor in NYC.

not true at all but yeah it's not like i don't care about money, still have to budget. if you are able to, get a roommate or gf who will share rent and then you pretty much have 3-4k to do whatever you want with and still live in a nice place.

FRAUD AND SELLING DRUGS NIGGA STRAIGHT UP

somebody had to..

kys and then go back to browsing reddit in hell

Proof that America is going down the toilet. God, I hate this country

LMAO THE TRUTH HURTS DOESNT IT FAGGOTS

>Are there more rich kids then I thought they were?
Yes.

>Are they being dumb and spending money they don't have?
Yes.

It's not really a "rich kid vs. poor kid" thing as well, it's a middle class vs spoilt middle class thing. I'm an upper classer myself but I've never gotten anything from my parents above the Ralph Lauren price range and that was considered too "expensive". I often had to go buy shit at H&M and Zara as a teen.

Myself, I make quite a bit above my age bracket but still not a lot of money, I just spend it wisely. I put all my savings in investments so that my money increases and never have more than bare survival in my bank account. I cash out the investments when I go partying or shopping but that's it. That's how I can afford designer stuff despite making a shit pay.

Also, sell the shit you don't use. That way you can get new clothes every now and then. I always try to sell my clothes for more than I bought them for if I bought them online.

Also, although you could say I'm one of them, I get legit triggered when I see people who are fucking broke spending money on Gucci belts and shit. I understand the whole "flexing" thing with expensive brands but they're supposed to show the world you can handle money so well you can afford expensive brands not that you're a broke nigger with the wrong priorities

>I'm assuming most of you guys are young and either haven't or just started an actual career-type job.
I have one and it's how I pay for clothes and prob how most people do lol. no need to project that hard

My parents didn't kick me out, I just moved out. Because I was 19 and living with your parents is irritating and lame.

This response makes me think you're incel.

>no debt
>no liabilities
>6 figure income
idk what to tell ya

Grailed goblins

Rich people don’t actually buy the shit unless they’re a trust fund kiddie or a black/asian teen.

you sound like a fucking autist, I'm a Britfag and literally moved out when I was 16

I literally wear full Visvim sometimes
