40k a year is really shit tier in some places like the US. Here in Chile is like the average for new graduates of top tier careers (except for doctors) like lawyers or engineers.

I put all my savings in investments so that my money increases and never have more than bare survival in my bank account. I cash out the investments when I go partying or shopping but that's it. Also, sell the shit you don't use. That way you can get new clothes every now and then. I always try to sell my clothes for more than I bought them for if I bought them online.
