That's your problem. You and your friends only fill a certain demographic. You can't make generic shit because it will be a watered down supreme. You can't make niche shit, because only you friends will wear it. What makes your clothing band special? Why should I buy your stuff over someone else's? Is it price? Quality? Those are the biggest functioning factors of a clothing line. If neither of those are particularly interesting then you need non-functional quality. Does someone famous endorse your brand? Do you have a recognizable logo that is well known? Etc. Legitimately your biggest problem is that your entire idea from type of clothing to brand names is extremely generic. You don't need to be thinking up brand names, you need to be thinking up business models.

So how would suggest going about doing these things? I'm new to this and there's no real way for me to create a well-known anything unless I put something out there.

I know this isn't exactly helpful, but I would say take your question to Veeky Forums. When you have designes mocked up, a good brand name and logo, then bring those to Veeky Forums. You're approaching this the wrong way. You want to start a clothing line, yes. But what you're really trying to do is start a business. If you just want to screen print some Tee's, do that instead of trying to create an entire business line based on one idea. My only direct advice would be to mock some shirts, spam them all over your social media and make them available on Etsy, put them on Pinterest etc. I don't mean this to sound rude, but chances are you're going to end up another generic brand. If that's the case work to your strengths. Acknowledge the generic, but put a spin on it. Something like honestly would not be a bad idea. Something like 'Très Générique' is not a bad idea. It implies generic, but it's French so therefore it's "fancier" than other generic clothing lines. Again, start with the business model, then run through the product. It's 99% marketing.
