How Veeky Forums is your city

On a scale of 1-10.

Milwaukee's about a 3. Some people dress nice around the universities and the trendy neighborhoods (Brady St, Bay view, Riverwest, East side). Everywhere else, not so much.

My city, Groningen, is a student city with I think lowest median age in Europe out of any 100k+ city. As a result it is full of young people that are interested in fashion.

That said it’s nowhere like Copenhagen or Amsterdam. I give it a 5/10

I live in a buttfuck nowhere town. Closest City is D.C.
>blue collar local dudes in Dickies and Carhartt, camo, dayglow
>White collar commuters in ill-fitted suits
>Women wear black yoga pants and a brightly colored athletic shirt or hoodie
>Young adults are non-existent because they're at college
>Anyone younger than that is too young to have a developed sense of style, they wear the Walmart/Target stuff their parents buy for them

0/10 community college sucks

this describes most fashion in small towns and suburbs across the midwest too

Perth, Australia

1/10

Quite possibly the least effay place on earth, isolated, sweltering heat and fatties everywhere.

Nice skyline though.

Gold Coast is pretty bad.

It's sad to say that it has actually stepped it's game up considerably because I see some rich kids wearing ridiculously overpriced hypebeast shit.

Perth gang

Better than Maastricht my dude.

Toronto.

I’d give it a 4/10. Easily the worst place I’ve ever lived. And the mentality of Torontonians who actually like this city blows my mind.

The three other places I’ve lived in Canada have all blown this shit out of the water. Everyone here dresses like Drake or The Weeknd, it’s fucking embarrassing.

i'm from Toronto too, and i notice a lot of dudes still dress like hipsters from 2010 (plaid shirts, jeans, beards). maybe that's just a canadian thing. and girls tend to dress very same-y and normie

Greetings from the Zone!

I unironically love the vibe of this kind of town, which isn't to say I'd want to put up with most of the quirks of living there.

I live in Taipei. It's OK. The bustle and visual clutter is kind of fun. The people are somewhat effay but it's no Tokyo or Seoul. I'd say literally 3/4ths of the people I see on the train are either wearing Uniqlo down jackets, denim trucker jackets, or olive drab parkas (not real milsurp, just stuff that has that look).

It has some weird as fuck statues in the CBD too

Eastern European Jerusalem. 2/10

Yeah I’m pretty sure that is just a staple of Canadian culture. Especially the tartan shirts and beards. The lumberjack thing is a meme for a reason. Claiming jeans are for hipsters is a weird one though my dude. I’ve never met a person who doesn’t own jeans. And I personally think some earth tone khakis are far more common on the bearded plaid folk.

Dope as hell. Where’s that?

Chicago. As far as how people dress, pretty low marks. But I'd say the spirit/history/aesthetic of the city itself deserves at least a 6/10.

manchester england

bout a 6 or 7 desu, deffo above average

I think he means this whole ‘rugged all jeans’ look the lumbersexuals wear nowadays. At least over here in the Netherlands they all LARP as Peaky Blinders.
They wear shitloads of ‘rugged’ jeans, stupid facial hair and some workers cap and all drive café racers or Harleys

Oh and of course leather boots

What's bad about leather boots?

Cactus gang

Montreal is a solid 8/10, maybe 9/10 depending on what youre into. rent is still dirt cheap so it makes it easy for people to pursue art and music. sometimes its a little too hip, walking around and literally everyone has a great fit on can get a little tiring.

Much better than Toronto for sure

every single time im in toronto Im blown away by how incredibly uncool it is. toronto has great restuarants, really good shopping, huge population... yet its painfully unhip

Albany, NY
2/10
Pretty dismal city, have lived here for about 3 years. Will be leaving next winter, not upset about moving on. Boring fashion, sometimes NYC shit migrates up here. I see a lot of teens wearing bape and supreme now, not much else

Yeah it’s shitty af

I’m surprised we haven’t triggered the Toronto lovers, they’d normally be here by now to defend it wrongfully

As a guy studying at Maastricht, I agree, though being near Germany, Belgium and Amsterdam is so convenient from a traveling point of view

Duluth
Solid 0
It's either fashion victims wearing Canada Goose when it's 30° or poor white kids from Hermantown in basketball shorts / loud snowmobiling jackets at 15 below
I don't like Duluth pack bags or those monstrous fur lined boots with the polar bear logo
Mukluks are cool though

Worcester, Massachusetts, United States

Kind of a college town, most students wear athleisure or nu-prep or somewhere in between (if any >girls are reading this please stop wearing brown LL Bean boots with black leggings). Occasional Asian hypebeast in yeezys and an alpha industries coat.

2/10 at least there aren't a lot of fat people

>rent is dirt cheap
interesting. i'm considering moving when i finish school in a year as a sort of plan B because it's going to be hard to find a job here (paris). tell me about your city user.

cincinnati ohio
about .5/10, the crackheads and dope fiends are more effay than 95% of people in the area

Jakarta, Indonesia if you are well off and goodlooking (like me) 10/10 megacity one vibes, rules don't apply, live on a compound, clubs range from underground techno to corporate high rises with the view of the city. Social circle is very important but if you are in the right one, it's amazing. Get invited to fashion shows and grand openings all the time, but most of those wannabe's don't understand shit (still prefer you faggots on here). Bali only 30 min flight away for whenever you feel like fucking white girls on vacation. You can still smoke everywhere and the list goes on...

Amherst, Massachusetts

Probably about a 2. You mostly have black people in black people clothes, rich asian kids with tons of hype beast shit, hippies with filthy docs and other gross shit, chads/stacys with chinos and timbs/bean boots and canada goose, or just middle aged white liberal people that dress how youd expect them to. For being such a college town people are clueless. Oh and you also have the twinks/hipster soyboys that think they dress well but just look like homos

Atlanta -1/10

Portland, OR.
0/10
Fat bitches with blue hair, soyboys with no fashion sense, and homeless people. I wore a blue button up to highschool when I first started getting into fashion and everyone was talking about how formal I dressed. Get me out of this liberal hellhole.

its definitely a great place for fucking around as a young person

rent is the cheapest for any major city in north america

great music scenes for both techno and indie

its kinda hard to find a job if you dont speak french, but you say youre from paris so I think youre fine

something to keep in mind is that its definitely still pretty grimy and doesnt have the sheen that paris has so to speak. I think the most comparable european city would be berlin. though, montreal is definitely smaller.

it really is fuckign cheap to live here and haev a really enjoyable lifestyle, so I say give it a shot user

lol

What’s up

Belfast City. Arsenal tops and Adidas tracksuits are as Veeky Forums as it gets, but even then the fuckbois who used to wear tracksuits just wear ugly trendy jeans and tops now. Girls just dress like slags.

Biddeford is pretty Veeky Forums because basically everyone here is a fucking drug addict, so they're all heroine-skinny-chic. I guess thinspo would probably give it a 6-7.

Boise, ID
Probably a 1/10. No interesting art or music scene and everyone dresses like shit. The most fashionable shit you see is teenagers wearing Pacsun-core. Otherwise they’re wearing basketball shorts and sweatshirts with rolled up sleeves. Half the population drives giant lifted trucks with camo decals. Basically fucking sucks I’m moving as soon as possible.

>Vienna

I give it a 3 as well. either they can't dress at all or it's too conservative for their own good. young women dressing like their past 40 should be outlawed.

Norwich, England
Probably about a 5/10, as the bottom of the barrel isn't really that chavy. There are lots of east asian tourists all year round, and 2 universities, so there are tons of younger people and Koreans who actually care about fashion. There's an unfortunate amount of art hoes (1 of the 2 universities is an art one), but a surprising lack of Hype Beasts, considering that there are 2 private schools here. Ft football fans
The aesthetics of some parts of the city are really nice, due to it's history and being on the broads, which bumps up the score a bit

Buffalo, NY
10/10
Lots of fit and good looking people who know about fashion. Some fuck boys here and there but not too bad.

What are the 3 other places ?

isnt it a college city?

Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax

Birmingham AL

4/10, there's a good number of streetwear kids but it's mostly very basic stuff, lots of rich Asian hypebeasts here for the med school, a surprisingly solid DIY scene with a few people who consistently pull off really great stuff but they're usually surrounded by a flood of basic art hoe/mac Demarco core types. It's basically just Atlanta with 1/5 of the people.

why not move? underaged? no training for a better career?

>charlottesville va
3/10 at best
lots of vineyard vine garbage and country club tier tryhards.

that said, not too many niggers anymore so at least we have that going for us.

I am moving once I graduate community college.

b-but that straight edge hardcore scene

>Kansas City, MO
It ranges from 7/10 "vaguely unsettling alternate history where the Nazis won" utopia to 0/10 "homeless black drug addicts pissing themselves in the street" shithole depending on what part of the city you're in.

>You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.

hehehe, I come from Toledo, you have no idea how lucky you are.

Erie, Pennsylvania
>3rd largest city in PA
>rust belt so large poverty
The poor dress ghetto, the rich dress preppy and the college and highschool students wear trendy brands like adidas and supreme
I’d give it 2-3/10

Fuck off we’re full

Bro I’m from Erie everyone in Buffalo dresses like fucking Indians. Khaki/jeans and a t shirt or polo or buffalo jersey. Your city is a 4/10 at best

Copenhagen and it’s a 3/10 at best. It might look ‘’’’’fa’’’’ but it really isn’t. I’m envious og you guys and your big skyline cities

I am fairly attractive and affluent enough to not have employment concerns once I graduate from college, how do I get into this?

SF - Probably a 7.5

I've also lived in Ny & LA and it doesn't even touch them, but compared to the fourth major US city I've lived in (Phoenix) it's miles ahead.

Tech people generally all dress like shit and lame city wide memes can become pretty pervasive (gonia vests, all birds, warbys, &c.,&c.) BUT the city is pretty well off and most people who want to dress well can.

There are also loads of boutique shops and local brands in the "hipper" sf neighborhoods (e.g. the mission, hayes valley) and the wealth of tourists also guarantees every major brand has an outpost in the more trafficked parts of the city so there's plently of places to pick up

You can rock an Veeky Forums look for sure and no one will bat an eye, but the down side is if you dress like a schlb no one will give a shit either

Baited.

Unless this person thinks a bills Jersey on fire is the height of fashion, I think the post's a joke my guy

1 country red neck towns are not Veeky Forums

used to live in Perth. I'm pretty sure Kalgoorlie is much worse

Santa cruz: 2/10
San Jose: negative infinity/10
SF: 3/10 higher like 6 in the neighborhoods like haight
Oakland:4 or 5
DTLA: 6, it would be higher but everyone wears ripped jeans for some fuckn reason

Baltimore: 2/10

Black people who "protest" against H&M but have no money so they shop at H&M the next week.

That's pretty much, some hype beasts at JHU with that international money but mainly pretty generic shit really. I suppose if you go more south toward D.C. it switches from urban wear to more frat / prep look.

Lululemon seems to really popular with the "rich" part of Baltimore

you know my boy vince?

Fremont, CA (aka where the Tesla cars are being made). It's a 2-3/10 at best. Only hotspot for fashion is the local college.

As a dude who grew up in the Bay, I was practically marinating in the hell that was the "swagfag" phase of hype clothing. I was in middle school at that time (between 2010-12) so it didn't help.

sounds amazing, hopefully it stays like that for a few more years. really wanna go there after undergrad now, gotta brush up my french though (b1-b2 atm)

Los Angeles, 8/10
Lots of variety: rich, poor, old, young. Cool vintage, new shit, mix and match, but also some really stupid trends and men in their 40s trying to fit in.

this mostly i've lived here all my life, hard to give a rating because of that.
really don't some people got money there. odd.
Did you grow up in Daily City or something

Esperance in Western Australia

Absolutely 0.00001 - 10, I live in the middle of nowhere in a coastal region of Western Australia. Absolutely no taste to be found in this town AT ALL. Everyone dresses like they are homeless or just got out of bed.

Perth could be worse...

LA is so fuckign empty and dead, it doesn't even feel like a city when you're there. You can't walk anywhere and you can't drive anywhere either because of the traffic. Nothing happens in LA and people still wear Stan Smiths there. It's a fucking huge suburb.

Sheffield, UK
No its shit

>tfw you live between the two only effay cities in the world, i.e Paris and London
Stay salty plebs

Good for art hoes, hippies, thrift and even a bit of nip fashion if you know where to look.
Way less high fashion than other cities I've been to. Suprisingly not much butterskins compared to how south it is.
Way too much uneffay old people tho.

Currently live in Birmingham. Pretty accurate, but I would rate 2/10

lol why the fuck do canadians speak french
cornballs

sal put

NY - 5/10
The people who actually live here are mostly streetwear fags, crackheads, and hypebeasts, but the tourists can be pretty fa

>maastricht
>near amsterdam
ummm sweety
also you DONT want to be near amsterdam

This also applies to Boston. Asians and their damn Canada Goose shit, man.

how was vancouver?

This, dude. I stayed in Century City and the UCLA area for a few days in 2014 and it was like one big shopping mall. On the bright side, I was able to ride my bike on the sidewalks like they were bike paths because no one walks there.

There's unironically no point in getting dressed up there because no one is ever outside their cars or outside of a store at any given point. CA is the biggest meme of the century, I kind of think it's actually always been shit but we were unable to find out about it until recently because of the Internet.

Santa Monica beach was nice though.

Nuremberg, Germany - 0/10. No visible fashion sense to speak of, at most you'll see some elderly tryhard fuckboi coming out of the only mall in the whole city which sells some ancient luxury brand leftovers, but the rest is either jacket/jeans/sneakers for guys and khaki coat/black leggings/sneakers for girls.

>exeter
>south west england

absolute zero percent effay

Have you heard of history user? Read a book, it’ll help

Only sigjtly better than Toronto. Montreal is by far Canada’s top tier effay spot

piraq cobbas we out here

is it worth if you cant speak french though?

0/10

I mean it's all relative to my prior experience living in the shithole that is called Eastern Europe (more specifically the Balkans)

Yes Montreal has given up on French they all speak English and they’re lying and hate you for some reason if they pretend otherwise

London

Well its London... I'm 25 and working so different perspective.

1) The actual city area. Its suit central and people dress well, I work in a company that allows smart-casual so I'm usually under dressed surprisingly on dress-down days there are quite a few sneakerheads which is cool

2) places like soho whatnot, obviously high fashion i find it embarrassing usually rich white / asian kids walking around in £1000 outfits look like cunts desu.

3) generally, streetwearish looks is popular, lots of caps, trainers, slim jeans/trackies etc. I usually just wear slim jeans/trainers and a bomber/coat on weekends so i fit in as sorta regular/better dressed

4) cunts, i live in south london and there are so many fucking students who dress like spastics sometimes commuting seeing people going to goldsmiths / colleges around their dressed like fucking aliens. Its funny how the second you enter the real-world what deems as actual dressing well changes overnight. These people will look back on it and cringe in a few years im sure also.

lol just moved away from kelowna, good luck buddy

I live in some ghetto in so cal. Its pretty effay. Lotta dope grafitti. Lots of classic cars. Hispanic mostly but all the fuckin yuppies startin to move in nd steal our swag.

No mayo in my city.

Paris.
8/10 I guess.

>London, Ontario

Moved here from Manchester, England which has bretty good fashion culture (I'd give it a 7/10), to a city full of homeless tweakers and college kids who all dress in the same uniform (sweater, yoga pants, timberlands). I give it a 3/10, if only because a lot of the Asian students dress well. Can't wait to move in September.

thanks for the info user
i will definitely consider it if i find myself sending out resumes to starbucks

you're full (of shit)

you know, it's good for your brain to speak more than one language

Cincinnati, OH.. Easy 2/10
There are four Categories of people here

>Hypebeast faggots
>Hipster cucks
> Vineyard Vines/chubbies fratfags
>People who wear nothing but Bengals and/or Reds jeserys

It's awful man

>Did you grow up in Daily City or something
Nah, grew up in Fremont. But it was still prominent.
