Future Industries

Lets glance into the future and figure out inevitable trends to early invest in.
Here's some ideas:
>robotics companies specifically making automation tech
>desalinization
>gene therapy/genetic manipulation companies, GMO companies, monsanto or better alternatives.
>personalized health-tech companies
>Crypto-currency (bitcoin/eth/monero/possibly future yuan or speculate next reserve currency)
>Large-scale hydroponics/aquaponics operations, or other urban farming.
>Virtual Reality

What else futurists? I assume all would have to be publicly traded unless you're a Silicon valley socialite.

marijuana companies as more and more places decriminalize/legalize

>robotics companies specifically making automation tech
current trend not future
>desalinization
wtf freshwater is abundant
>gene therapy/genetic manipulation companies
>personalized health-tech companies
maybe, lots of risks tho
>Crypto-currency
kek
>Virtual Reality
probably just a meme
>Large-scale hydroponics/aquaponics operations, or other urban farming
dunno about this one

only energy storage and distributed grid

Not everywhere has freshwater sources.

To invest in near term VR we can buy stocks of Sony, HTC, and I cringe to say Facebook.

However these are early days for VR. Above companies can turn out to be the Blackbery, Symbian, and Windowsphone of the coming era. I.e. the losers.

Short sightedness, the post.

>current trend
yeah, but it's still is so early in, so much room to moon launch. I'm def gonna hold onto a basket of these bad boiz and get guarenteed gainz.

>wtf freshwater is abundant
see also underground aquifers are drying up, + cheaper to make giant plants than a bunch of little spring extractions once the tech catches up.

>maybe, lots of risk tho
>dunno about this one
unless we start genociding, we need to engineer better produce to feed the worlds growing pop (the market dictates this need, not bleeding hearts lol). There is already mutant produce, but it can be improved so much more. we just need to grow in higher densities within cities to cut down transport costs. As far as gene manipulation, yeah leave it to china I guess since they don't fuck around with bio-ethics as much. With epigenetics I can see some popular services coming along to customize wealthy people's newborns, turn off cancer genes, etc. lots of fun stuff.

This thread is begging for a bumparoo. Where are my paradigm shifters @?

>paradigm shifters

That's a big word you got there.

Cyber security is way behind

Looking at all the hacks on Clinton recently and Russian + Chinese hackers

MGT way to go

Also think blackberry could make it if they dropped their shitty hardware

Time to jump on the train to producing goods for a new world.

Porn futures and suppository delivered recreational drugs.

Porn is increasingly legitimized and the need for capital coupled to demands for regulation will eventually push a body willing to act under publicly traded status to the fore in exchange for subsidy, legal privileges, and protections denied to the competition.

As for the second, faster delivery times, lower doses needed, and it has a positive externality with the former as it pushes the perversion envelope that has heretofore been porn's R&D bread and butter.

porns money is gonna be made primarily by ad revenue in the future and those ads are for other porn sites.

The real problem is not what will ultimately thrive we can do a well educated guess to figure that out, rather what companies will make it through the financial struggles relating to R&D, etc

>He's reading it off an iPad
>With a heavy Indian accent
>That cosplay
>That beanie
>The sneakers
>TED "X"
This is gonna be good

you can make bank on any company in a boom as long as you pull out soon enough

Garage/Recycling and Alt. Energy are the sectors to invest in for the future.

>Not everywhere has freshwater sources.
the entire earth is one giant desalinator man oceans evaporate and rain forms it gets filtered in rocks and sand and comes out crystal clear at the hills foot.
>cheaper to make giant plants than a bunch of little spring extractions once the tech catches up
desalination is always a power game the tech is cheap enough altho salt water is highly corrosive so maintenance heavy it's power that is expensive.
also transportation of freshwater is costly in this regard small local sources are better economically.
>unless we start genociding, we need to engineer better produce to feed the worlds growing pop
no i mean investment wise fear driven legislation can fuck over 2 decades of top notch research and kill perfectly fine companies. or you as an investor can get lead by your nose see: teranos.

we need a good world war that would sort out all kinds of issues.

At this point I honestly think america would get pwned in a world war.

robots

drugs

bullets

energy

immortality shit

This is a good one, since it still isn't socially acceptable to smoke marijuana. You won't find employers wanting to hire dopesmokers. But, it will eventually become tolerated even by ultranormies. You'd be first in the game.

>we need to engineer better produce to feed the worlds growing pop

For now we just need to distribute it better. If you read up on it, you'll see that in most major hunger crises, there were loads of food stored in a silo somewhere locally and not being distributed to the needy populace.

the only issue is you at this moment

Is that Nilay Patel from TheVerge in your picture?

And not everywhere has enough rain to generate enough freshwater for the population (aka the southwest)

well plenty of space where it happens, maybe just maybe people should live where there is water like in almost all of history?
also there is this wondrous invention called pipes if some fuckers really do want to live in deserts.

Sodium-ion battery

entertainment will always be around

anything that is related to data management, and organisation as well as visualisation

all kinds of automation, obviously
