get more ties like the red one in the middle and purple one on the far right
those are the best ones
go to saks off fifth and get past season Brioni ties
>Brioni
I keep hearing about them. Why are they so fucking expensive? Pretty much double what I spend on my most expensive one.
they're way better made
the designs are beautiful, yeah
but if only you had only one Brioni tie and wore it every day it would pretty much stay pristine forever
I own three....paid retail for one and the other two were from the outlets and are the same quality
I'm interested. Would have to see one in person. Would like a nice solid interview tie for a new position opening up in a few months.
Where can I get them cheap?
you can't they don't go on sale
but check Saks Off Fifth or Nordstrom Rack; they have membership cards and you can probably get one for like 90 bucks
Not at Nordstrom Rack. I see them on Amazon for around 100-150. Gotta find one I really like.
mfw tieposting becomes a thing
just buy ties from the dollar store you faggot
no one will be able to tell the difference unless they specifically look for the tag
>he could pull off a point collar
>falls for the spread collar meme
delete this
What kind of knot is that?

...
Hermes
Salvatore Ferragamo
Gucci
Tom Ford
Dunhill
If you want to get fancy, try some ties from MMM (Maison Martin Margiela). Look smart, look sharp
Jesus christ you have fucking boring ties.
I would make fun of you too OP
Why haven't you gotten youreself a space tie yet?
Best tie so far that's for sure.
Also this one.
They are tacky and not business appropriate
Get some of these bad boys for the office
>business appropriate
Guess you have never been around tech people.
What industry do you work in that makes you be so vanilla?
Only wear ties at weddings and such
My grandfather was a polymer chemist for Baxter I have all of his math/science patterned square end ties
Doanld Trump
The key is to wear plain color silk ties of high fashion brands if you don't want to spend a ton of money on them.
If you're the kind of guy wearing plain color high fashion ties, in the mind of people you're the kind of guy who would buy 10 black ties, 10 blue, 10 green, 10 red, etc because you have no time to waste picking ties but have a lot of cash.
The thing is you only bought 1 of each color so that's basically 4/8 total depending on the brand but no one needs to know that. And no one will ever make fun of you, they will bow down to the high fashion branding.
If they are all just solid colors then how can they tell an expensive tie from a cheap one? They are all silk and look the same. Why get designer for $200 when a department store one for $40 will pass as it?
Shoot up your office and call 911 saying it's an Isis attack. Make sure the detectives can find your gay furry porn on your computer's tho.
whats a good tie to neck yourself when the shit hits the fan?
I like linen ties. They have a rugged texture to them, like burlap, and they dont look like faggy silk pajamas.
Suitsupply has cool ties, but they're too expensive. Wish I could find something similar at a better price.
Designer ones are of better quality so you will keep them longer and they will degrade a lot less over time which works for you in the sense that you want people to believe you have more than one of each and that can't be done if one of them has for example a tiny hole due to cigarette or whatever the fuck else time of degradation can happen.
Also designer ones have the actual designer branding on them on the back and other details that, depending on the crowd you're in, will get noticed. Idk who's in op's work and social circles but I know in mine everyone can spot high fashion brands and knows how to spot a fake as well.
It is true however that you could do the same thing with cheap ones provided it doesn't make you a pleb to people in your circles.
>no skinny black tie
Wear mine and get called reservoir dogs
It's good to know that while the world economy is shitting blood all over itself in the wake of Brexit, finance types still have enough free time to pay attention to how many ties their coworkers have and how frequently they wear each one.
>implying anyone here has a job
> implying a collapse is a bad thing
> "buy when there is blood on the streets"
So they should be rushed off their feet rather than being the fashion police.
Any tie that's not pic related is good.
Wear less distinctive ties (solid blue, solid burgundy, etc.) if you only have a few ties to wear.
>Why are they so fucking expensive?
Because they're among the best on the market (for the US market at least: the European ones are made by another inferior maker). Better silk, better construction, better design.
And because Brioni loves big profits, of course.
It's fucking great, right? Nothing gets me harder than nitpicking at men's finance fashion. Business card thread when?
Why are ties so expensive? Its just a fucking strip of cloth..and they are sometimes worth as much as a dress shit.
People expect you to dress professionally for jobs out of university or to job fairs and whatnot..how the fuck can you when all this gear is so expensive!!!
I have more than 100 ties, going from cheap (€20) to expensive (€200).
I wear both and there's no visible difference between them. Longevity is also exactly the same.
No, people cannot tell the brand of your tie, unless you go for distinctive models like Hermès animal prints, Leonard flower prints, Missoni "M" prints, etc. (And why would you want people to see the brand at the back of your tie?)
If you just wear solid silk ties, literally no one sees the difference, and no one cares in general.
Also, if your friends judge you on your ties, you'd better find new friends. And that's coming from someone who wears Brioni, Charvet, Turnbull & Asser, etc.
>tfw my workplace is ultra-casual
>can wear whatever the fuck you want
>not naturally a creative dresser so end up looking a bit shit
>really like suits, I feel more comfortable in a uniform style
Anyone else know this feel?
In my work it'd be as weird walking in in a suit as it would be walking into Goldman Sachs in shorts
Dress up, always. Dress for the job you want, not the one you're in.
Even if people talk behind your back they will respect you more in better clothes like a suit.
>job
>not starting your own business
kek, it's like you don't want to have the opportunity to scale up.
Yeah slowly learning this.
Previously was of the mindset of 'fuck what you look like, just do your work', but I'm beginning to realise that you need to play the game a bit.
Suit would be a bit weird, but I'm considering shirt/chinos from now on. Just not into the whole fashion contest thing that goes on in there
How do you guys define
"business casual?"
like is there multiple meanings for this?
I thought about going to some business social event in my city. I think its for some charity thing. It doesn't say anything about the attire, but it says that there is going to be games, craft beer and small performances by local musicians.
what do I wear to these kinds of events?
slacks, dress shirt tucked, no necktie, top button unbuttoned, loafers
Im a pizza hut regional manager, also i allow my store to be blacked, and filled with women who have children so they can constantly call out, have long nails, and black bitches and they bald ass hair so coca butter for all my crust finishers
...
Minimum do some nice wool sacks, tucked in dress shirt, nice shoes. Basically what you wear with a suit but no jacket or tie.
Once you move up in position start wearing a jacket with the outfit, then add a tie after you move up.
Not all people in your position night wear a suit but everyone above them in the company you will come in contact probably will and it shows them that you are serious and are willing to play ball.
vineyard vines
I want this one
Tie clips anyone?
pure autism
quality is shit
Those are the ugliest tie bars I've ever seen user
Get 7 or 8 different styles of all black ties.
After the first months, your co-workers will discover that they have better things to do with their time than to be fashion police.
Horrible. I don't like tie clips anyway, it's too American.
>black ties
Don't do that. Wear charcoal ones if you need to go dark, but not black. Generally, not wearing black is always a good idea.
the only tie colors you can wear are blue and purple
solid is ugly
striped tie only if you fucking love your alma mater
no patterned ties because they can be misconceived as being associated with particular fraternal organizations (and if you are in a fraternal organization you should already know what tie to wear])
sup
invest in kneepads
You can wear most colours, except black and white.
Solids have their place in a wardrobe, like any other style, and they're very useful for people who are starting, or people who need to "tone down" the patterns of their shirt and suit.
It can be wise to avoid club ties, to avoid offending members of a club who sport the same tie... but that's not extremely likely. And striped ties aren't all club ties, so they're good.
No one ever thought a patterned Hermès tie, or any other tie that just came out 3 months ago, was associated with a century-old fraternal organisation.
TL;DR: wear almost everything you want. You just invented those rules, they don't apply in the real world.
in retrospect the word "patterned" has multiple meanings
and screw you now I want a Hermes tie
forgot how nice they are
I'll buy one in Chicago when I'm there in September
Bamp
Also some dark wash denim with a navy blazer and shirt with no tie

Faggots, please read this.
I'm getting my first finance internship starting next week.
What do I wear?
A full suit?
I'm 19. What do?
I've got the pants, dress shoes, collared shirts and ties, I don't have the jacket, would I even need one, I don't want to come across as that douchy kid that thinks he is Gordan Gecko because he got his first internship
>What do I wear?
>A full suit?
Yes. Just a dark suit, with a light blue or white shirt, a conservative tie, and black oxfords if possible.
No one will think it's douchey, the point of such as attire is that it's pretty modest.
A jacket is mandatory. Sports jacket and odd pants may not cut it.
Okay thanks.
Any other advice, I really want to make a good impression, I would really like a summer internship (4 month long) when they come around or maybe some kind of part time work or something to make money during uni.
Female Veeky Forums fashion? Everything I find online is geared to english/libartz majors and looks ridiculous. Skirts/skirtsuits/dresses only please. Pantsuits aren't moe.
Is something like this acceptable or does it have to be a skirt-suit and collared shirt?
The male has his collared shirt tucked in and the female has hers out. Is there a reason? Could I use a blouse instead of collared shirt?
Also, can I remove the shoulder padding? I heard the fabric wouldn't hang properly, but I already have boobs that fuck it up anyway so what's the difference? I hate padded shoulders in jackets.
Wore same shirt and tie to work for 4 months. Washed shirt every 3 days. Got 'made fun of' but didn't cry because I'm not beta. If the workplace wants a fashion show every day they can pay for the clothes. My work only paid for 3 shirts and 1 tie and I cbf taking the other 2 shirts out of the packaging because they were the same shirt anyway.
Read the Wall Street Journal or the Financial Times every day?
Dress requirement for women are more liberal. The two pictures you posted are fine to me (and I'm pretty conservative).
Watch "The Good Wife" if you want to get an idea of what's proper dress for office. All the men are perfectly dressed in this show, and the female characters look very proper as far as I know (except Kalinda Sharma, but that's the point).
>removing the shoulder padding
Not sure about this.
i think the more important question is why do you care what they think? tell them to leave you alone. if they dont talk to hr. dont get pulled into water cooler politics, they are trying to assert dominance. this is all under the assumption that you dont care too much about ties and are doing this because of social pressure.
>paying this much for a piece of clothing that serves no purpose
goddamn Its like everyone here is pretending to be retarded
>7 beautiful ties isn't enough
fuck this gay earth. I know I'll never make it.
Every single one of those is fucking disgusting
>fashion while conducting business
if i ever see a fuck apply with a forced tie and suit that doesnt fit them, you bet your ass you're not getting the job
Church.
You have no taste.
Price I paid for each, left to right.
>$40
>$30
>$125
>$125
>$90
>$55
>$85
>Church.
Huh?
I work at a bank and wear ties every day all day
The absolute EASIEST is a white shirt with a dark blue/navy tie. Make sure to get a modern slim tie, but not those toy boy mini things. Keep it simple, start out with solid blues and stay away from stripes unless you want that ameritrash vibe.If you have the money get a couple of ties from Boss. Google:
'Tie 6 cm' | Slim, Silk Woven Tie by HUGO
>>the above tie is bawler as fuck i might get it..
'Tie 6 cm' | Slim, Silk Patterned Tie by BOSS
'Tie 6 cm' | Slim, Cotton Silk Blend Tie by BOSS
Also nice:
'Tie 7.5 cm' | Regular, Silk Striped Tie by BOSS
'Tie 6 cm' | Slim, Silk Patterned Tie by BOSS
If you want to spend less try stuff from Esprit or We Fashion. Basically stuck to solid dark blues! Once you have 3 blues, you can venture into grey and red using the same advice as above. A tie is not meant to be prominent, but classy.
Good advice
>Got made fun of today because I wear the same ones too much.
This is why I hate office jobs. Fucking cooped up cunts have nothing better to do than point out stupid shit. OP I hope you get a big fat promotion with an office and the option to work remotely while those dickheads stay right where they are.
Here's what I wear in the summer, rate me from 1/autism
Gucci watch
Gucci belt
Retro Jordan 5 sneakers, switch colors depending on what I'm wearing
Ralph Lauren polo shirt
Ralph Lauren shorts
Lol didn't even read the fucking thread thought this was a daily attire thread
>get a modern slim tie
That's fashionable (although I think "slim" is a dying fad), but it's not the best thing to wear in office, unless you're extremely young and thin. Stick to the classic widths, 8 to 9 cm, preferably 9.
>stay away from stripes unless you want that ameritrash vibe
This makes zero sense. Stripes are perfectly respectable, unless you're classifying most US presidents (who routinely wear striped ties) into the "Ameritrash" category.
>Boss
Okay, but not better than cheaper brands.
>6 cm
Much too thin.
>stuck to solid dark blues
It's not bad, but you can venture into other colours.
I'm assuming working in a financial office type job in NYC requires you to be "a little gay"... like, you get put on projects and promoted based on how much money you spend on clothes. Is this right? Or the ties make you look richer and command more attention and stuff. Again, I'm assuming.
I used to work as an engineer at the MTA, and I didn't dress very fancy. Black pants, black shoes, white shirt, black tie, black jacket. Only worked there for a co-op though, maybe that's why.
Now I work in the field with all the Union construction dudes. Now I wear cargos from Walmart, and beefy white hanes t-shirts every day. I bleach everything. I'm more concerned about my clothes not smelling like gas and being able to take a dump than what I look like. Then again I'm single, never ever get laid and don't work in an office anymore, so... just goes to show...
Hey where do they sell these.
I want one so fucking much.
its not a dieing fad, you could do 9, but assuming you are young and ambitious i would go 6. Stripes can be done, since OP is a total retard lets not give him any room for error. Agreed Boss isnt "better" but they make consistent nice designs and personally i think its good to spend a few extra bucks and feel like a king. 6cm = slim, dont contradict yourself.
Anyway OP;
Play it safe follow my advice
You need to be white to post here
What about bow ties?
you'll look like a pedophile
>not wearing string ties
...
Are you me? I rather look like a boss then some casual faggot.
Nigga that's a bolo tie
No one would find this cool.
You'd just look like a twat.
Nuh uh. Everyone thinks it's cool.
Green tie is a stable, confident yet bold tie colour. Smart knot and wear it with confidence.
>they will respect you more in better clothes like a suit.
no, that's horrible advice
wear a suit in a tech job (that isn't at a bank) and people will respect you less
people think "is this guy that shitty of an engineer that he has to wear a suit to compensate???"
real talk
I work in engineering at a publicly traded company
it's very easy to tell if someone is visiting for an interview just based on what they're wearing
usually they look very sharply dressed compared to the rest of the staff
one of the best senior engineers wears fucking shorts and a t-shirt to work, for fucks sake
Slim is "dying" because it's been adopted by normies for years. It would have been advanced in 2003, cool in 2008, now it's déjà vu and boring. But it looks fine if you look like a Hedi Slimane model.
>plebs overtook the world
nice native american tier tie bars lmao.
St. Dupont, Dunhill or GTFO
It's true, I work in a financials company computer security stuff, everyone wears collared shirts, just sans tie.
Anyone have a favorite shoe brand? I own two pairs of ecco's and they are amazing.
Yeah, unless you have to talk to the customer's people don't give a fuck what you wear in STEM fields
