Stock Tips Thread (inb4 memes and crypto)

The thread name says it all: we trade stock tips for good (and preferably safe) investments. This isn't a meme-spamming thread or a pump-and-dump initiative; it's meant to help other anons out with good stocks for increasing wealth over a few days / months (preferably not penny stocks or day trading).

>The Rules:
1) Don't be a dick--list everything you know about the stock and why you made the decision to buy it/promote it here.
2) Don't spam meme stocks like fucking CERU.
3) no crypto pls. We already have a tonne of threads dedicated to them.
I'll go first as a show of good faith.

I made $182 on Klondex Silver Mines [KDX.TO] in two days, and the stock is projected to grow to well over $5.00, so there's still time to make a profit. Other silver mines are doing well too (like First Majestic), but I haven't invested in them because I believe they're riskier than Klondex.

Hydro One [H.TO] is also a good stock, though mostly for the quarterly dividend of $0.22 and security of its stock price. If you can nab a hundred of these, you get $22 every 3 months, plus an increase in the stock of a couple dollars.

I didn't list it, but I also bought 700 shares of Mettrum [MT.VN], which ended off at about $80 profit for me in one day. I based my investment in the company on two things:

1) The August 27th decision by a Canadian committee assembled to work on a model for marijuna legalization. This decision will outline a model for legal marijuana distribution in Canada, and hence, is a given when it comes to bumps in share prices of all marijuana companies.
2) Mettrum is the most likely company to be bought out by Canopy Growth Inc. Though this won't likely happen any time within the next few months, it IS likely to bump up the price estimates on the company, especially when medical marijuana grows in popularity after the aforementioned legislation changes.

Just put an order in for 20 shares of AMPE because some user said it was going to raise 500%. :)

>Hydro One [H.TO] is also a good stock, though mostly for the quarterly dividend of $0.22

meh its a 3.x% yield.
its track record is way non-existant for me to consider it right now
>first dividend payout was 34 cents per share
>second dividend payout was 22 cents per share

My AQN stock has a much longer history of increasing dividend payments.

While I wish you success, I feel you are playing with fire here (tiny companies, buying based on feelings) and might get burned badly.

what is diversification?

I held AQN for a little over four months this year. The dividends are okay, but the stock price moves way too slowly.

I am diversified. There are only a couple of my stocks.

>I made x amount of money

Fucking post percents only ree

I got a hot tip MKND is going to the moon shortly. Buy in first thing tomorrow morning for at LEAST double digit gains.

slow and steady is where it's at.

>The dividends are ok
I don't get how you can say AQN dividends are only 'ok' and then go on about Hydro One in your original post when it's yield is lower by a significant margin.
> but the stock price moves way too slowly.
any faster and it will catch on fire and burn everything to the ground.
Why are people so unhappy with 7-10% annual returns

Because that is extremely low considering the time span

I like this one.
Picked it up back in February at around $31, dividend isn't the highest but it's pretty consistent and the stock seems solid overall, so we'll see.

The chances of you making greater than 10% returns per year consistent are very very slim.
Everyone somehow thinks they are smarter than the market and everyone else trading stocks.

What kind of return do you expect to get ? Do you think you can keep it up for several years ?

Why's that?

Also Potash is pretty overdue to come back up if you wanna look into more Canadian holdings.

Of course its been overdue for-fucking-ever so be prepared for that.

Their revenue is on the decline, the cut their dividend recently.
I would stay away.

Literally most of the people in the have even made x00% gains in timespan shorter than a month. I've personally have made 20% gain in the past two weeks by using common sense. I've only been trading like a month.

As long as you aren't greedy this shit is free money.

do you only invest in canadian stocks op?

3% dividend = :(

i own this stock because it pays a 13% dividend:
MITT

its a REIT that invests in mortgage back securities but don't let that scare you. the 2008 boogeyman isn't gonna getcha, because
theyre GAURANTEED by the US government so you cant lose!

Because, user, because.

i searched for that ticker symbol and i couldnt even find anything, bud. is that a crypto or what?

How do you guys analyze stocks though? I'm doing research into this at the moment, but I find it surprising that you guys never seem to talk about market cap/volume/"P/E"/EPS/ Patterns etc

Do you guys just make the decisions off their price performance/income statements/business decisions????

Right now I'm looking into learning how to read income statements to understand the current performance of a stock.

If you guys could throw me some key words for me to research and understand how to make the most informed decision when it comes down to investing in a stock, it would really help.

>noob here

Discover Finviz and be bathed in more data than you know what to do with yet

Also I really don't see most of biz as the methods of compatibles let's look at the facts crowd, they're more of the sometimes right glob onto a random stock and pray crowd. About 1/10 has any idea what they're doing here

we just invest in memestocks to try to make fast money. be sure to set up trailing stop loss sell orders so you can automatically dump the stock when people realize the stock is worth nothing and it's all hype. learn about the different order types.buy MGT!

use the bulk of the your money to buy index funds (ETFs) maybe some REITs. don't waste your time trying to pick stocks. spend your life doing something worthwhile like banging whoores.

there was an experiment they did where they found that even professional stock pickers had no better ability at picking stocks than a monkey throwing darts at the stock listings in the newspaper. for real.

my 2ยข

just buy this for chrissakes:
CPD
Claymore S&P/TSX Canadian Preferred Share ETF

it's an etf of canadian preffered shares of many different companies. preffered shares are basically as secure as bonds. you won't be lose money if one of the companies has a bad quarter. it pays a 5.3% dividend.

Thank you so much! Website is exactly what I was looking for on doing research on a stock.

Definitely a ton of data and trend lines that I don't understand at all. Hopefully investopedia and youtube can help me understand all of it.

If I can understand all that data provided on a stock I would feel more comfortable investing.

I'm not trying to gamble. Stocks is gambling in the general sense, but most of these anons are just throwing their money up in the air on coin tosses. It's ridiculous. I'm not in for that.

I can see how meme stocks can go up on hype, but I would not throw much money on that boat. I would have that as the least of my investments because I could probably have just as much luck playing roulette or blackjack at a casino. But the hype is real too so I might throw a bit in it, not much though. Just an in and out kind of thing, there's anons I've seen in this board holding on to meme stocks for the longest time, it's ridiculous.

I doubt that experiment. Would you happen to have sauce on that? I will try and find it.

I think I could perform better than an ETF, but that just might be my ego speaking. REIT's do sound like a safe investment if the economy is doing good, but I think the housing market is not doing so good right now.

i read about the experiment in a book called 'a random walk down wall street'. dont have time to look it up on the internet right now.

if the housing market crashes in canada, then more people would end up renting, which would be good for residential REITs

SOME BODY TOLD ME

TWTR if they solve their advertisement dilemma with a possible acquisition in the works from (rumored) google and all the crazy shit happening in the world; Olympics, election, nfl deal, it should finish the last few qtr's strong..

Think he meant MNKD, the bio stock that makes new insulin drugs.

it literally just crashed this week give me one good reason it won't continue to be complete ass?

See

except there's no planned announcement at all tomorrow so idk why he thinks he has insider info

>planned
>insider info

They got denied approval. The FDA would have given them approval if they qualified. They're dead.

plus if they DID get accepted after being fucked by the fda then that would be coming in months

Time to cancel my order, maybe CERU then???

They said mnkd was going to the moon yesterday and continued to shill it would rise after dropping. It just fell through the floor and never went up again. So butthurt

Go buy SWHC or MGT it's going up. PGNX is also a good option. Or you can gamble on arry.

This is quite literally the worst attitude you can possibly have toward trading.

I'm looking to start investing into stocks. The only ones I purchase are my companies through work which I get at a 15% discount. I really don't know what I'm doing, does anyone have any guides or something that could get me started, I want to learn.

Enbridge is rather volatile thanks to the price of oil. As a pipeline company, most people think that they're exempt from oil price changes, since oil always has to be transported, but oil extracting and refining companies will force Enbridge to renegotiate pricing as oil drops, which means less revenue.

Index stocks is where it's at.

I currently put in $100 dollars a month into schb and $100 dollars into VOO.

Twitter is overrated crap that has never seen a profitable year.

That's ok, it's all lies anyway.

How is it all lies? I'm telling you to look in rhg . Their are screenshots all over.

VUZI:

iWear and m300 smart glasses sales numbers will be out in august, the stock recently had nice rally and now it has dipped a little but not for long

>How is it all lies?

>Literally most of the people in the have even made x00% gains in timespan shorter than a month
>I've personally have made 20% gain in the past two weeks
>this shit is free money

See? It's actually the entire post.

Go to rhg. This thread seems to have been made by someone who doesn't know rhg exists on this board already.

CTBO
first promising Alzheimers treatment, lots of insider buying.

$MGT
$TTNP - USA administered looser regulations for doctors. Only were allowed to treat 100 patients. Now 275, meaning 175% more market cap. Looks like Braeburn (their partners selling and marketing the drug) are building a factory that can accommodate all the drugs in TTNPs pipeline, meaning possible future buyout.

$VRX - 350% upside. Bashing and all the bad news is done. Walgreens loves the deal with them and give them vote of confidence. This caused the big rally today. They were never going to go bankrupt, just got bashed hard.

$ORIG - not sure about this one but definitely undervalued. Oil causes me to worry though. Long play for me here

>preferably not penny stocks

>This thread seems to have been made by someone who doesn't know rhg exists
>This thread seems to have been made by someone who doesn't care that rhg exists.
fixed that for you

I like the way you think

Went up 17% today, think it will keep going?

Hey guys do I hold on to these oil stocks?

when did you buy them

what do you guys think about Outerwall (Redbox/Coinstar)?

$DRAM
So far on my weak research I've seen that they got on a new VP that has plenty of experience and a few other good news. The thing I like also is a triple.bottom trend and it's on that bottom right now, at 58-66 cents today was a nice little profit but I believe it's a longer hold than a day trade, I'm expecting it to see a dollar or so soon.

>Outerwall
My first thought was "someone still uses redbox?" and then "does coinstar earn anything other than the raw sale of the hardware?"

I dunno, but.......for some reason you make me think of something else that I'd personally like to invest in

>who the fuck is going to make all the kiosks for fast food joints that replace human workers?

I want to invest in that.

Outerwall's kiosks are top notch. Sure Netflix is killing them, but if they branched out their kiosks past Redbox, they could do great

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to pair that shit for like dinner and a movie? I'm almost positive it's been done.

Where do you find the dividend history of a company?

I think the SEC says they have to have it on their own sites, but,

nasdaq.com/symbol/aapl/dividend-history

Pharma stocks that go up big on a day will inevitably see months of stagnation unless they have some absurdly efficient pipeline.

Has gone down today almost as much as it went up yesterday so far

Should I short Exxon?

Happened with Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA) about a year and a half ago. Went up 76% in one day after they announced good results on a test, dropped something like 6% the next day, and after about 2 months they were back down to their pre-jump price.

>Should I short Exxon?
Can you?

>idiot
"Guaranteed by the us government" - That's now how reits work

just google "company name dividend history"
it really depends how far back you want to go.
lmgtfy.com/?q=saskatchewan potash dividend history

But not all companies show their dividend records like that.
Most are more abbreviated
like AQN
investors.algonquinpower.com/divs.aspx?iid=4142273

Not to say they cannot be found at all, it just takes more than the first search of a google search

Enbridge here is known mosty for natural gas.

I know for a fact it is regulated by the gov (not sure what level) and does not make a profit off natural gas.
It *does* take a profit from the delivery of the natural gas to your home
its not physically delivered to your door, but its some delivery charge on your bill that I assume basically pays for the infrastructure + a profit
>How Do We Set Gas Prices?
>Enbridge does not make a profit on the price of natural gas.
>If you purchase your natural gas supply from Enbridge, the price you pay for your natural gas is exactly the same as it costs us to buy it from our suppliers.
>However, we do earn a profit on the delivery of natural gas to your home or business, but only at a rate that is approved by the OEB.

I would say enbridge is a safe long term bet, of course they pay out a nice dividend too.
it's not in the business of drilling for oil, but in the distribution and supply of oil and gas.

i basically just c&p'ed that from the description on google:

google.ca/finance?q=mitt&ei=QeZ-V9i7KIy22Aa_27bIAw
"It is also focused on investing in residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) issued or guaranteed by a government-sponsored enterprise, such as The Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) or The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) (collectively, GSEs), or any agency of the United States Government"

am i misunderstanding this?

>known mostly for natural gas
That doesn't mean you can ignore its oil pipeline business. Enbridge is Canada's largest crude transporter (2.2m barrels/day) and its Enbridge Pipeline System is the world's longest crude oil pipeline system which also carries dilbit (bitumen diluted with lighter petroleum projects), and it delivers 1.4m barrels/day to oil refineries in the Midwest and Ontario.

>SWHC
Firearms surge, if you know anything about firearms they bring a solid budget AR15 for normies that don't build.

Their M&P AR15s are the Honda civic of the AR15 market. Their stock has been doing great, waiting for dip then purchasing probably around 15-20.

Happens every election cycle, uncertainty and fear spikes firearms industry.

Here's a comparison between ENB, WTI crude, and natural gas. When oil's price was fairly steady, it was regular business for Enbridge, but when oil went down, so did Enbridge. Meanwhile, natural gas seemingly had non effect at all on the price. Enbridge's decline and subsequent rise almost perfectly mirror oil's and have no apparent relationship to natural gas's.

XRA.

Very good buy. Target price is 3-4 dollars. They are a canadian stock listed on NYSE MKT and would be considered a mining services company. They are just about to break ground on a new mine in the Chilean mountains and the way things are going they are going to be able to secure the rights to the lease and move forwards on their project.

Great way to buy into Gold and Silver. It finished the day at 1.35. Buy, buy, buy.

Hell, no. Overpriced dog shit is buying into S&W. You would be better off going long on Olin Corp. Ammo sales are always a constant and they pay out a respectable and CONSISTENT dividend. I don't think SWHC has ever paid a dividend.

I'm in olin corp as well. I don't own any SWHC however if drop I will be purchasing.

GM. Slowing sales growth in the US has hurt the stock, but growth in Asia & Canada has increased. >5% dividend & low p/e. All things I like.

Couldn't agree more. Plus they just patented a new efficient engine design, not to mention they already have a fully electric car on which they can build.

SWHC is a very good bet to spike in price thanks to the Dallas news.

Agree with you on SWHC RGR and other gunmakers.

But the real play was DGLY - Digital Ally - a $20M microcap - makes "video imaging and storage products for use in law enforcement, security, and commercial applications." (i.e., in-car video cameras and body cameras.)

DGLY is a trading stock, not an investment. It's probably too late to chase it this morning as it gapped up 30% and hit +60% after 15 minutes.

But if you look at a long-term daily chart, you can see spikes every time a police shooting induces a riot. You can also see smaller spikes of 5-10% for TASR, while we're at it, but they're a billion-dollar company and most departments already have Tasers.

So the playbook, if you will, for a police shooting would be to buy DGLY on the day of the shooting (most of the shootings happen during the day while markets are open), but only in the most egregious cases of abuse that are most likely to cause civil unrest the following night. (i.e., those accompanied by graphic video.)

It's rather depressing, come to think of it, that this happens so regularly that one can use it to make money. But such is life in 21st-century America.

$DGLY

TO THE MOON

Buy Intel guys, this is just a no-brainer. Decent profits lie in your future.

>Hear ye, Hear ye....
I have a stock for thee....
Invest in Intel today......
for a significant increase in Good Boy Points.....hooray!

>profitconfidential.com/stock/intel-corporation-this-could-send-intc-stock-soaring-78/

I wouldn't get this coin even if it was for free.

$AXN - Chinese pharmaceutical that just got cleared by the CFDA to start producing tilidine hydrochloride tablets. when it was announced that the CFDA was looking into approving it the stock price hit $2.00. Made a gain of 25% yesterday, now trading around .80 per share. People on various message boards have been claiming these next few days are the last time to get in at a decent price.

I was tipped off about it here last month and bought in heavily at 65 a share after some research. Thanks to whoever that user was.

Accidentely bought at .60 yesterday morning, went down to .53 and now it's at .47 can you explain your research a Lil more

>trusting Veeky Forums with cheap but volatile stocks

You must be new here...

Yeah :(
Just had 30 dollars in account and wanted to fool around while I wait for PIER to go up a little before I switch from shitty capital one investing to a decent trading platform.

What is everyones thoughts on VBLT?

Summary
>Small biotech stock doing cancer research (vb-111)
>Phase 3 clinicals with 1 cancer phase 2 with 2 other cancers
>Phase 2 with atherosclerosis treatment
>There cancer treatment was shown at a conference and everyone said it's at least as good as anything out there and when combined with the number one current medicine for some brain cancer it almost doubled life expectancy

Kinda thinking about jumping on the train, dunno

I really feel bad for anyone who bought AMPE

I made money because I sold on a spike everyone else who held out fell into shit

Will probably be bought by Gilead Sciences.

I got in at 70 shares for 1.15 just for the fuck of it. Floating around breaking even, I figure I'm going to hold on to it for a while and sell if it spikes a little.

What does that mean for a pleb investor like me?

Buyout speculation can make a stock price skyrocket. When it was announced that Microsoft was buying part of Nokia, Nokia's stock price went up 36.7% that day alone. By the end of the year, it had gone up 107.9%

That's why they're at McDonald's
