I have zero interest in coding. Are shitty engines like RPG maker and GameGuru my only options? Is there anything else? GameMaker is the closest but it's still very complicated for my dumb brain.

Started adding an enemy. It doesn't actually do anything yet, but I just wanted to make sure I had turns working correctly and that the enemies would disappear when out of vision.

currently i have an XML for enemies, weapons, etc, which I parse with LINQ on map generation

Game Maker is the go to 2D engine for amateur devs. For your first game you shouldn't be doing anything that's too complex for game maker.

You will still have to code though. It's really not that hard, just come here for questions when you do.

Every game you will have to code. But it's honestly really not that hard.

Pic related is just some simple code to determine the strength of the object your ship collided with, reduce it from the shield, and then reduce if from armor if you are out of shield. And of course change sprite that represents the shield and armor.

Unity gives me Index out of range exceptions on lines 22 and 34 and I'm not sure why.

Playing around with a health system of sorts. I doubt it will stick, but I wanted to see how it could look.

The type of combat I want is hard to figure out, but atleast i'm getting an idea on the setting, very basic story and how the environment might look like
