Have only fought one greatshield user but I hit him with a Yhorm Machete R1, kicked him, and then killed him with a critical. I had knight, hoof, and hornet rings equipped.

They are simply broken.

You need like 5 kicks to break the guard I think? And if you miss one you will easily get punished for it.

The only real counter is the sacred flame grab attack, but you can just backpedal that one and avoid it.

There is no way an r1 and a kick will cause guardbreak on a greatshield (even with rings) unless he just emptied his stamina bar

Is the wolfknight shield the best shield in the game or does it not matter as long as you can parry or give you good side stats? (grass crest shield, etc).

Also bleed, BLEED is really strong against greatshields as they don't stop it at all. I got shreked the first time i fought a bleeduser when i had my greatshield up.

Because Lothric and Lorian looks like pure heirs of the first Lord. Yhorm looks like an heir of the giant kingdom, Aldrich looks like a fake king that became crazy because he used the power of the black curse (devouring people to become stronger until he became a Lord), and the Legion looks like an army coming from the lost kingdom of Oolacile (everyone being the same, training forever together to become stronger).

I have tested it. The glory shield without upgrade needs more than 3 kicks with 20 endurance so I don't know why you were able to guardbreak him so easily.

I mean, that's cool if that's your thing. But you're deluded if you think you aren't DS and Estoc level.

It has good stability and resists, and it's on the light side for a great shield. If your weapon art is worth using, then it's good. Otherwise you may be better off with a bash or something.

I fucking love heavy weapons, and I was having a 35% or so winrate by my guess, but whenever its an estoc user I'm just fucking crushed, I'm getting real tired of this bullshit.

I was pretty interested on the Great Shield thing tho.

King's got some really fucking nasty ranged attacks, but also this weird blind spot in his AI. He won't use either his ranged or melee attacks at a certain range that you apparently stumbled into.

It's never been a threat to me and I don't use it because it looks gay.

Big damage and poise damage.
The only downside is it consumes more stamina to swing compared to the other straight swords, but that's not really a fair comparison since it's like a greatsword in almost every other way.

yeah pair it with an estoc.

No pictures, but check out Mirrah top, Painting Guardian gloves, and Maiden Dress bottom. Also looks good if you swap Mirrah top for Sunless. Female character, obviously.

Do what I did, say fuck the meta, grab the Greatshield of Glory, slab on 40 strength, pick up a heavy greataxe and make people suffer. Make people regret picking meta weapons.

Estoc users can't get through, GS users will run out of stamina LONG before you. SS is a pain still as they can seemingly attack for years but they will run out of stamina before you again.

Then it's just a case of picking when you want to start cleaving them for 90% of their health each swing.

Or, be really cleaver, and put a Ceastus with the greatshield and when they get complacent swap, parry and obliterate them.

I did very well at 60, it was hard at 80 because spears and halberds or any long range semi fast weapon makes it really hard and they come in around then, 90 zone is better because I can take a hit and my damage is pretty good, going for 100

Use a longsword for awhile then switch to barbed. You'll notice. This thing feels short as a dagger.

I like the bash, I caught a few people by surprise on it, and it can hit for 300 or so on good timing. After you hit the ground, the rest of the move count as if you were blocking.

Its not really good though, just fun.

I was running Heavy Greatmace with darkmoon blade and Cathedral Greatshield for a good part of my 100 hours savefile. I was doing well, but these longswords/estocs everywhere are pissing me off man, I don't really know how to deal with that bullshit.

Guess I might try the greataxe though

Fighting games are either shit or full of unintuitive mechanics and immersion in a great draw to Dark Souls so I don't think so.
