He went by Izuru as the school hid all connections to his past as Hajime who was a Hope's Peak student so it would have been bad for them if those connections were still open.

He only used his Hajime name to fool Makoto and co. right before they're captured and shipped to Jabbawock Island. He did this to hide his identity as Izuru and to catch them off guard.
