The PvE in DS3 is infinitely better, but the PvP is actually worse right now because only a handful of weapons are viable. Moreover, rolling uses almost no stamina and have ridiculous i-frames so you can just spam roll and actually get away with it most of the time (especially if there's any kind of lag at all).

The PvP level shouldn't be any higher than 80 so hybrid builds cannot exist.
When you can buff a quality straight sword to over 800 AR, there's no point in using anything else.

there's easily enough chunks in lothric to go to +9 without having to fight either boss BUT, if you kill osierus then you can go to dragon peak and grab an ash that lets you buy them

I would need to know the poisebreak values for weapons before being able to answering that. Tanking estocs and dark swords is cool, tanking greatswords and halberds not so much.

It's bretty good. A strength scaling for Heavy and A for faith if you want a lightning one.

The stronger link is that Soul Stream uses the same name as Soul Geyser in Dark Souls 2, and in that game Soul Geyser is specifically referred to as Aldia's legacy.

I would even say it's inevitable. The bigger problem is how the game is basically bloodborne with dark souls weapon movesets. How anyone can say the PvE is better is beyond me. Dark Souls 3 PvE can be summed up as: Easy but tedious. It lost the sandbox feel of combat for the sake of the next generation. I wasn't happy with Dark Souls 2 at launch, but I would say SOTFS is better than launch Dark Souls 3.
