So they kidnapped his wife, brainwashed her, let her be "saved", then her programming made her kill him in his sleep and return to them to complete her training and development.

Unless we see photos of side character Gerard Lacroix with his wife in them, we won't see pre-Talon Widowmaker. Maybe with a skin.
