I found out that the Tomes/Scrolls that halve Magic upon use work best for mixed attackers. I used Ginnungagap with Hayato as a Dark Knight, his Magic got halved, then switched to an Axe Splitter next turn, and after attacking, his Magic returned to normal. So all it required was that I attacked again with some kind of weapon, rather than attacking with a Magical weapon again. Grandmasters would also work well with this.
