Why does every dark sword user NEED to swing 4 times?

it seems really odd since i sometimes hit a boss with 4 zweihander swings in a row which is about 2k+ damage and doesnt trigger it

on my first run I was trying to work out how to stagger the fucking thing.
I had a lightning bladed claymore.
Once I ran in and got 4 hits in a row during a fire breath and it staggered.

Tried it several more times and it did not stagger under the exact same circumstances.

There is 100% some element of randomness or something we just don't know of that is controlling what staggers the storm king.

Well Morne's hammer casts it faster than the miracle version and the thing is you can spam it endlessly because weapon skills can cast with 1 FP and a simple weapon at +10 gives you 1 FP every 3 seconds, which means nobody with a pure melee build is going to get much of a chance to hit you and Morne's Rage has perseverance to boot.

Yea Tower of Latria is definitely more atmospheric but there's small nuances in the lighting in Irithyll Dungeon that really help it have a decent atmosphere on it's own

Scales with the AR of the weapon, does like 800 with 40 strength and the weapon at +2 for me so far.
