Previous squadwipe News: 1) Julian Gollop is working on his new game, Phoenix Point. It's a turn-based tactical game with strategy elements, destructible terrain, geoscape and character progression much akin to XCOM 2)2) Long war studios are working on more mods for Xcom2, the first of five Long War Toolbox is live on the workshop xcom.com/news/en-long-war-studios-creating-more-xcom-2-mods
Furthermore mod author Capnbubs - maker of the most endorsed mod on the workshop - has been signed onto the LWS team
Also move the phoenix point links to be next to the relevant new item.
Elijah Richardson
>lw links slimmed down >capnbubs info in >fairly low character count This is better than the longer one I suggested, gj OP! I may be biased because you put my screenshot in there though.
>new Long Dong mods Are you ready for the magnificent design, /xgc/?
They're going to buff argon toxicity even further so andromedons will be more dangerous to kill.
Bentley Brooks
Yeah I spotted the typo
Also fuck I didn't notice I fucked up the links, tiny textbox threw me off and I was distracted by trying to get it to fit. As long as we remember to fix it for next thread it'll be fine.
Thanks lad

We don't have the thinmen's acid cloud on death anymore, so I don't see why we shouldn't add it back in to andromedons as space argon clouds.
Got XCOM 2 yesterday and I've been playing it quite a bit. Game really needs some serious patching when it comes to attacks though > Got a couple of soldiers inside a building > They're stacked up against a wall > Stun prod enemy runs up and stuns one of them > Through the fucking wall
Another time a snake bitch grabbed one of my guys through the floor.
Also how's my ranger looking?
Christopher Anderson
Check the OP for music for 8 man squads
Jacob Nguyen
Not bad.
Dominic Scott
Yeah, there is some serious issues with ceilings/floors not blocking los, though I can't say I have had people melee me through wall though.
Michael Lee
Nth for pure innocent Codex
Cooper Ward
>>swords are useless
NO
Nolan Taylor
What is ADVENT's stance on religion?
Brody Hughes
Praise the Elders
Nathan Howard
This pretty much: All old earth culture is considered archaic and an obstacle towards the ascendance of humanity. Or so they say.
John Miller
that's not true, they have no issue with waifus
Julian Cooper
Hmmm, maybe your right...
Nolan Gutierrez
>snek >codex >female advent They clearly cherish waifus
Tyler Martinez
asshole clenched
Carter Adams
Love can bloom?
Austin Peterson
I wouldn't count on it.
Dominic Cooper
There's nothing more frustratingly disappointing and anger inducing as having the best guy on the team with all the gear killed, and then turned into a zombie by some cheeky sectoid. Ayy Smiley got two grenades after he hit the ground on our way out.
Josiah Parker
Dont fuck up know
Nathaniel Garcia
We already went over this, that is a screenshot of a Codex successfully proposing a cultural exchange.
Jack Brown
Yes, even on a battlefield.
Shuddup, you.
Dylan Martinez

Ayden Lee
In this fight not even waifus are safe,
Jack Williams
But that codex is fine and she's now happily experiencing the blissful joys of Xcom culture while showing them what a long experienced albeit highly shaky Advent culture can do
Nathaniel Ross
Recent intel suggests they never left the battlefield.
Brody Perez
Don't be ridiculous user
Thomas Carter
This image is extremely graphic all advent citizens should know the malice xcom is capable of.
Luis Collins
I only see a ded snek, thanks for showing that they accepted the Codex's proposal and are now working to improve themselves
Thomas Johnson
REMOVE SNEK! ALL HAIL THE COMMANDER'S PROPHET BRADFORD, MAY SWEATERS BE UPON HIM.
COMMANDER ACKBAR!
Ayden Sanders
THAT FUCKING SLUTTY-ASS VIBRATOR BITCH CAN GO TO HELL REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Matthew White
Don't worry, the sneks death wasn't in vain and now the Codex is having lots of fun and enjoyable experiences with Xcom and the sneks corpse was turned into glue
Evan Bell

Nobody can do space correctly without absolutely butchering the laws of physics.
Blake Hernandez
I still miss the bastards.
Keep their memory alive, user.
Dylan Brown
Most things don't try to do space correctly as it makes for a shitty game or blockbuster
Fun fact, Elite Dangerous tried doing perfect space physics but found it completely killed dogfights and with weapon ranges and accuracy turned the game into space jousting with the losing party just not coming back around when their shields went down and accelerating into the sunset
Justin Bennett
why the fuck would you stretch out the image
Bentley Wood
>Most things don't try to do space correctly as it makes for a shitty game or blockbuster
It does neither, it changes what you can do. It's like saying submarine combat has to be exactly like space fighter combat or it's not fun. Fucking retarded.
The problem is that people can't seem to conceive of space being anything other then WWII space fighters, or how anything except WWII space fighters could be fun. And that's because they're retards.
Elite Dangerous fucked up by trying to implement WWII dogfighting in space, while ignoring all the elements that even make WWII dogfighting fun and interesting to begin with. That's a game design failure, not a "realistic space is intrinsically boring" failure. And retards keep failing at it and begetting the whole thing more.
Evan Bennett
I presume this is in regards to the new CoD trailer? CoD has never cared about realism, even the old ones are abstract and one man army as fuck (the soviet level where you clear out large portions of Stalingrad pretty much singlehandedly come to mind) and expecting space realism from them is silly considering this is the studio that brought us a teleporting russian army, a russian army that conquers all of europe in a few hours and the Ghosts tank that handles like a Ferrari
Joseph Jones
>the Ghosts tank that handles like a Ferrari I was pretty annoyed about that, it felt so stupid
Ian Sullivan
Because its not exciting, realistic space combat would be two opposing fleets made up of ships primarily constructed of heat radiators firing at each other from hundreds of thousands of KM away, read atomic rockets if it still exists if you want to know quite how boring it would be in anything but strategy game.
They didn't try to implement classic dogfighting in space though, that was my entire point, they fell back to it after realising realistic combat would make it a boring game.
Also whats with all the aggression, just because people enjoy classic dogfighting which is visually exciting and tense doesn't make them retards, its the same reason in most action films they don't show the reality of modern air combat which is just sitting beyond visual range firing missiles at each other
Luke King
It was just silly fun and its a Call of Duty game, simplified fun vehicle controls are a staple.
Samuel Hughes
I would have preferred it feel like Battlefield ( responses to inputs are sluggish and vehicles can't turn on a dime)
Landon Torres
Of all the ridiculous shit in Ghosts THATS where you draw the line?
Matthew Howard
projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/ Found it, and it still has the same design as it always had. The owner was a right lad, replied to every stupid question I emailed him.
Ryan Rivera
>THATS where you draw the line? maybe it is, what are you going to do about it nerd?
Evan Evans
Be confused, the handling wasn't even the most ridiculous section of the tank sequence
Brayden Roberts
yeah, the most ridiculous thing was the fact you had Ghosts installed on your computer or on a console or had the disc in your console
Carter Miller
I chuckled in a sensible manner
Jackson Rogers
Is a man not allowed to have bad taste anymore?
Robert King
You're not allowed to have any sort of opinion Stop judging me because I'm 700 pounds, I'm perfectly healthy, stop oppressing me with your "fit" genetics
Luke Johnson
>Stop judging me because I'm 700 pounds, I'm perfectly healthy, stop oppressing me with your "fit" genetics That came from nowhere
Elijah Cooper
No, that came from McDonalds
Isaiah Hernandez
I think that was his (your?) point. (The Joke) wasn'tfunnybutnotbecauseitwasntfunny.it'sblameculturek
Ryder Gomez
Most days I don't get to see a train wreck in person Today is not one of those days
Dominic Sanders
I have no clue whats happening
Cooper Cox
I am a man of patience, they finally moved and I got them one by one
Jose Johnson
>turns taken >44 thats a lot of patience
Evan Howard
So is xcom 2 better than xcom :enemy within or not?
i heard a lot of bad things about xcom 2 on release day.
Mason Jenkins
They're probably about on par, the strategy layer is better in EW but the tactics layer is better in Xcom2. Long War is still better than Xcom2 but with mods and DLC I would expect Xcom 2 to eclipse EW. If you enjoyed EW you'll enjoy Xcom2.
Elijah Phillips
Its different. The bad stuff you heard was undeserved for the most part.
Luis Richardson
nice. gonna smash my enemy within play through and get on the sequel. thanks family.
Mason Moore
>Because its not exciting, realistic space combat would be two opposing fleets made up of ships primarily constructed of heat radiators firing at each other from hundreds of thousands of KM away, read atomic rockets if it still exists if you want to know quite how boring it would be in anything but strategy game.
How is any of that boring?
You're making the same mistake all the other retards do: If it isn't spasm-inducing 'fun' it isn't 'fun'. Why in the fuck is someone like you even in an xcom thread? Your type is usually complaining about how boring turn-based gameplay is and how everything should be real time.
Michael Clark
>waiting for decades just to have your missiles to miss the enemy ship >fun
Jonathan Wright
I don't think you quite comprehend the distances that are involved, it would be a salvo of torpedos firing, a big cannon firing or a little red light coming on and then a few minutes/hours later having a ship suddenly explode or watch an effectively invisible missile/projectile miss by several hundred km isn't that exciting and thats what realistic space combat is. The distances involved are massive and the same technology used to make space travel possible will make space combat just that.
Also it only works for a strategy game like I said if you actually bothered to read instead of sperging out at the first line, most genres are not suited to realistic combat because its not fun for it, it would be great fun in a turn based or real time strategy but it would be shit for a shooter or action RPG
Its funny how having a basic understanding of physics and not finding sitting watching nothing happen for several hours with an explosion happening once boring makes me apparantly incapable of enjoying xcom.
Dylan Barnes
Holo targeting or Implacable?
Brayden Barnes
The only problem I have right now is that I can't adapt to the gorilla warfare. Even on normal my squad often loses 1-2 soldiers per mission which never happened in xcom. I hope I'm not a pleb in a few days and start to change my playstyle.
Carson Roberts
It's so unfortunate that it's impossible for games to do anything like speed up or slow down or otherwise change the presentation of time to the player.
But no, go on with your caricature of a game, strawmanning all the way about how unfun it would be because of your contrived conditions of 'fun' and what this hypothetical game would play like.
Ethan Edwards
>reee stop having different opinions to me
Ryder King
You will get a hang of it don't worry also you do have some room for error so don't be afraid to pull out of a mission or two.
Eli Martin
I drew a picture of snek dancing like an egyptian
Cooper Sanchez
Whats with all the people trying to stir drama today?
Jace Rogers
Realistic sci-fi games can't be fun because if I made one, it wouldn't be fun. For example, don't you know how long it would take a missile to travel 1.2 million kilometers? Waiting for 2 IRL months while playing a game wouldn't be fun!
Therefore all realistic sci-fi can't be fun, because, as you can see from my example game, it's impossible to make it fun, you have to do so much boring stuff.
Zachary Kelly
Is also nazi snek, v rude
Adrian White
>built 7 nanovests to try and see if they helped >forget that all my soldiers only have one utility slot >140 early game supplies gone
Aaron Murphy
Did you not play EU or something where vests were the most useless fucking item in the game?
Ian Stewart
What soldier? If you can expect them to get a lot of kills, then implacable is good. If you hate missing and like killing things with fewer bullets, holo targetting is for you.
Jeremiah White
Line of sight in general is just completely broken. Pic related. Muton is just standing there against a wall, absolutely nothing between him and my guys and somehow he's got full cover because ???
Brayden Sullivan
>he fell for the nanofiber jew TOPSNEK
Joshua Bailey
the nanofiber taking up a utility slot is kind of stupid. It's just a vest. Why would it use a utility slot?
Nathaniel Gutierrez
I did, I've actually played it more than I have 2. I remember them being universally useless and for some reason I thought they'd make them better
I wonder who it is at firaxis that makes all these useless items
Juan Brown
I have the feeling the cover system is somehow broken too. Even when I flank my enemies, they sometimes don't show the flanked symbol.
Kayden Perry
It means he's in high cover on one side and you're not flanking him, its identical to how xcom 2012 did it
Evan Baker
Specialist, I'm considering Implacable since three of my other guys ended up with Holo-targeting too
Joshua Ortiz
They're good in the very early game to prevent your rookies getting oneshot.
Once they've got 7-8 health plus a point of armor, you don't have to worry about the vests anymore.
Xavier Roberts
Consider grabbing holo-targeting. A guardian specialist will be able to apply holo targeting onto a large number of enemies, allowing for easy clean up (in an ideal world of course). Then again, having holo targeting on a lot of soldiers is a bit redundant.
Dylan Gonzalez
Probably the same person that forgot to make smoke do something before launch
Zachary Parker
Not an exactly original idea but, what if instead of vests that take a slot, each vest can be added to base armor like a weapon mod? There would have to be some balancing stuff to work out but how about something like this: No addition: No effect Nanoscale vest: -1 mobility, +1 health And so on. Each vest would give you soe small bonus at the cost of mobility.
Nathaniel Gray
just cleared commander difficulty with my team of JAV idols
