To sum it up the game was created by some very good 3D modelers, but they were lacking in every other department and it ended up as the disjointed game it is today.

Not even that. I'm about 90% certain, at least based on the fact that their fucking UI elements were purchased, that most all the architectural models were bought from 3rd parties. And not even the good shit, the dirt-cheapest shit they could get their hands on. The only thing Illusion made was the terrain and the character models, and even that was basically torn straight from Premium Play.

AA2 was good because it took everything from AA1 and added and improved on it. The relationship system was more in-depth, the school system was more in-depth, the clothing system was more in-depth, the character customization was better, there were more personalities which in turn could respond in more ways, and to top it all off it was based on a rock-solid core of emergent gameplay. AA1 was already a neat, fun game, and AA2 made it that and more.

SBPR, by comparison, was a call in. I mean, on the surface there are advancements over previous Sexy Beach games, like the open world and exploration, the more in-depth dates, and the more uses for lotions, but they were all poorly implemented. For all the new lotions, you couldn't even change the girl's tan lines like you could in every other SB. For all the new clothes, there were fewer distinct varieties of sexy swimwear. For as much as there was new depth to the dates, they really just ended up as glorified fetch quests rather than a genuine relationship system. And for all the new possibility that an open-world gave, the H-mode STILL wasn't as seamless as it was in previous open-world Illusion games like @HomeMate and AG3. And out of all that, it ran like absolute dogshit so it was hard to enjoy the things it did right, like good animations and those sexy dances.

AA2 succeeded as an Artificial series game. SBPR failed as a Sexy Beach game. They've gotta prove that they can make good games again or they're going to get less and less attention and just wither away, but making a good game won't be easy and it won't be cheap, so if they go all in and fail horribly again, that'll just sink 'em right off. We'll see. I'd rather they go out in a blaze of glory than a slow descent into irrelevance. Despite my attitude, I really did like the ideas behind SBPR, they just needed to actually follow through.

If you want a proper Custom Reido, CR5 is probably the best you can play. The Kidnap>Train>Whore>Sell>Kidnap gameplay loop is fantastically put together. CR4 is an amusing diversion, but it's not really much of a proper a Custom Reido game.

Small potatoes in the bigger picture of it as a game. The fetish system was better implemented at least.

If you look at AA2 a bit closer you'd see that they use an old technique to emulate a 3D enviorement, using 2D BGs like in old point and click adventure games. The actual HQ models only pop in during conversations. These things and a few more somehow come together nicely, and doesn't detract from the game's integrity.

Anyone knows what the append patches do in xCation games? There's like a year's worth of them. Are they small additions to the story?

It won't cure blindness but nearsighted people will be able to see things far away like everyone else does.

It's hard to judge the immersion by simply scoring "how good is the 3D".
Scale: I think most things are at scale? The desk does appear to be big though. It's hard to say when the game doesn't take into account your head's height from the floor, and you can move the game on the Y axis. Your head is basically levitating instead of your body walking on the floor.
Graphics: the girls look good, everything else looks cheap. Skyboxes are way too close to be considered a sky. I wish there was ambient occlusion/better lighting.
Sound: the positional audio is there.
Controllers support: shit.

It's just a flat game ported to VR, don't expect too much. If you want proper immersion, try games that are developed exclusively for VR.
Still worth it.

I guess it depends for everyone, and I also have big headphones on top of it, so I'm sure it'd be more comfortable if I were to just use the given earphones instead.

- To have your eyes properly lined up with the center of the lenses, the headset needs to be slightly above your nose, so it's not actually resting on your nose like glasses would.
- You need to find the ideal position for the Vive to rest behind your head with the top strap, otherwise the weight won't be distributed evenly across your skull.
- To avoid the headset sliding when looking up/down/tilting your head, you need to tighten the side straps, which can make it somewhat more uncomfortable.
- I have to adjust the headset from time to time if I don't tighten it enough.
- It's a bit uncomfortable, but it's not uncomfortable to a point where it ruins everything. It's certainly not painful.
- The Vive can actually get warm after a while. It never gets hot, just warm, it is noticeable. - I can use the Vive for hours without issues.
- I don't need glasses to use the Vive, but you can adjust the distance between your eyes and the lenses, to accommodate for glasses, at the cost of FOV.

When you look at a screen for one hour, your eyes will focus at the same distance for one hour, same in the Vive because the light goes through the lenses and hit your retina as if it was coming from object that are 1m away or something. The only difference is that in the Vive your eyes need to converge to look at closer or more distance object.
It's certainly brighter than my regular screen. Although it does use an OLED panel, so dark pixels will be actually dark.
So, uh, draw your own conclusion!

I'm pointing out that I'm not the one who cares about VNDB. I just care about /hgg/. VNDB has never done anything for me (I use Getchu for what other people use VNDB for) whereas /hgg/ has done a lot for me.

Depends on how you mod it, though the main drawback would be increased load times.
