Set up a lure at a pokestop

>set up a lure at a pokestop
>put a bunch of water bottles in a cooler with ice
>sell for $1

I just thought to do this, anyone ever do this or similar? I wish I would have thought about this two weeks ago, are there still enough people playing to make a couple hundred bucks?

Also I'm thinking about location, a college campus would be great right?

Don't you need a license to sell shit in public like that?

Also I reckon it's kinda hard given that most people don't have $1 usually, most carry credit cards these days

You don't think college kids carry wallets with cash? Also I could get one of those swiper apps.

Yeah true.

But the license thing... I'd do this but I feel like if you got a fine you'd destroy your day's profits lol

pokemon isn't that popular dude

take the same model and do it at local events

>pokemon isn't that popular dude
It's much more popular than you think. Could definitely see this working

I'm looking at my local campus's site and I can't find anything against it. You really think they'd fine me before just telling me to stop?
It was immensely popular the first couple days, but yeah now it's definitely died down. I was hoping the lure would draw people in, and that it being on a campus would help.

>I'm looking at my local campus's site and I can't find anything against it

I'm looking at my city's and it says you need a license for street businesses like busking, food carts, food trucks, icecream trucks etc. Not sure if this shit would need the same thing, I'm guessing it would in all honesty but unsure of how exactly.

>You really think they'd fine me before just telling me to stop?
Not too sure, but they can be ruthless desu. I could see them telling you to fuck off with a ticket and not caring

The question should be why haven't you done this already?

I just thought of it man, fuck it would have been a goldmine a couple weeks ago.
Looking at my city's code book, I need a permit to sell in parks. Still can't find anything on the college site though. I assume the campus rules are different.

I'm going do this today and tomorrow and post results. If anyone has done this or similar please share your experience!

>and
or*

do it bro

if it works, i'll follow ur lead

Idk man I'm pretty nervous
I'm not a Veeky Forumsnessman and this being Veeky Forums I'm pretty socially awkward. I don't even play pokemon GO. I'm afraid only a few people will show up and no one will want to buy water. But I suppose the worst that could happen is that I sit there for 30 mins and I end up stuck with $10 of water. So I suppose I might as well try. It's hardly even hot today though.

Okay I tried it, and it didn't go well. But I'm not giving up on selling water bottles.

I went to an area of the campus with a ton of pokestops and set up my cooler and put a lure on one of them. I hardly saw anyone until a guy approached me and we talked for a bit. Apparently it was fucking move out day, so there was like no one on campus. He told me that usually there's people around though. He was my only customer. I only bought one pack though. I'm going to keep my eye out for further water selling opportunities, and when classes start back up again if pokemon go is still popular I'll try the campus again. My flaw is that I don't know my local pokemon go scene. If I did I could set up shop at the popular spot every day and actually make mad dosh. Although I think the popular spot might be the pier and I don't know if I could get away with selling there. Also I'm looking into getting Square for credit card transactions.

Overall I'm not really disappointed or bummed. The water's still there and if what that guy told me is the case then I just picked a bad day. I'll probably try to drop the whole pokemon go thing and just look for events and junk. It's just that there doesn't seem to be much of a pokemon go community around me in the first place.
You should definitely go for it if you know your local pokemon scene, or have friends who do.

Kek he actually did it, the absolute mad man

Well at least you didn't lose anything, good to try. I'd probably do this but I feel like a huge kike standing selling people water for $1. Seems awkward kek

Wow. So on a really good day you stand to make almost like $25! And all you had to do was was stand your ass out in the heat all day, carry a bunch of shit, and shill like a retard. Why hasn't anyone else come up with this?!

Fucking next warren buffet over here. Get your questions to this investment genius in while you can.

>So on a really good day you stand to make almost like $25!

I think it's a lot more.

I reckon you could sell ~50 waterbottles an hour in a busy area. That's a fair bit of money even after you subtract cost of water and ice.

Honestly you have to not give a fuck
I was nervous going into it and it ended up worse than I expected but I feel fine. Like yeah I probably looked like an idiot standing with a cooler with no one around but I don't really care about anyone at the college so w/e. If you want you could sell for 75 cents and still make a decent profit but if it's hot people will pay a dollar for water, even two dollars.

I stood for 30 minutes. Yeah it was dumb but I'm a NEET so I have nothing to lose. All I had to do was drag a cooler which wasn't so bad. I'm sure if you're at a festival or something you can make thousands in a day selling water.

Yeah but you use words like "reckon" which immediately places anything concerning your thought process firmly into the trash. It's not your fault or anything; you're just from poor stock.

>Yeah but you use words like "reckon" which immediately places anything concerning your thought process firmly into the trash
Literally pic related

>It's not your fault or anything; you're just from poor stock
Thank you for blessing us with your presence on a business board of an anime imageboard, oh merciful richfag billionaire

Meanwhile, the machines and other vendors at festivals already sell water. Likely at prices better than yours. And with the added convenience of getting it at one stop and not having to talk to a sweaty awkward neet during the transaction.

Have fun though. The "thousands" you rake in will likely be offset by a single ER visit when you get heat stroke.

Thank you for tilling my fields and flipping my burgers.

But you do the same thing, or you're a NEET

Only a good idea if your time has no value.

How much is most peoples' time on Veeky Forums really worth if we spend it on a shitposting anime imageboard?

No Value? Here in Germany we have spots that are packed with hunderds of people. At 1€ per bottle there is a significant value.

Fuck my areas so shitty ;_;

I read this: makemoneyyourway.com/make-money-selling-bottled-water/

I guess this idea isn't so shit, I may try it actually

Yep, you missed the boat and honestly, if I may be so bold, your one true opportunity at ever becoming wealthy beyond your most wildest dreams.

quite a bit of projection there.
i'm not some stereotypical neet, i finished high school and now im trying to figure out what to do. i wouldn't make this water bottle junk a living but i would like to have some cash on hand.

Well it's all over now, good luck finding another way to make ~$10 USD a day.

Move to NYC and do this shit in one of the big parks like Central Park.

Oh and also, don't go to college.

If you're in a park or somewhere without electrical sockets, bring a portable charger and charge 2$ for 10% battery life or be a dick and find an outlet and take both of them and sell them to people

I actually have a well off aunt (works for a bank, has a summer home in southampton long island she rents out) who lives in nyc with and open bedroom, and she's retarded with tech so I could handle all that stuff for her. I should plant the idea that I could live with her next time I see her. I already want to live there anyway.
I think selling portable chargers is a good idea, like buying for 10 and selling for 20.

square is great for payments, you just need a smartphone/tablet with internet

Just got word there's a "Pokemon War" at the pier tomorrow, from 10 am to 6 pm
10 am to 2 pm is like the hottest part of the day, this is my chance. I don't understand why they made it so long though, no one wants ot battle pokemon that long and I don't know which time to show up. Since this is a war it would be good to have team stickers, but there's not enough time for them to arrive.

And if it's in a city that isn't completely dog shit, then there'll be somewhere where they can get clean water for free.

You'd be better off selling cokes n shit.

aaand there's going to thunderstorms
I hope the event maker reschedules because who wants to pokemon hunt in pouring rain?? Also it's not a pokemon war my friends retarded, it starts at the pier and they go though town.

Try it again tomorrow, if it doesn't pan out, move on.

I'm not going to, even when it's not raining there's going to be clouds covering the sun. If I had stickers I would.

>Also I could get one of those swiper apps.
You just let all of us know youre a really stupid person.

I know how square works man, I knew I would have to get the peripheral.

I am literally finding kids walking and on bikes running around at 10-11 PM at night in New Jersey to the point it's actually difficult to find a place to smoke pot.
They are walking around in complete and utter dark.

Well, you can't give up after one shot. Try it again when the weather is right.

Not planning on giving up. I might try to sell them umbrellas, they're 5 bucks each at my local home depot. Maybe I can sell them for 10? The Umbrellas are a much higher investment than water bottles so it's way riskier.

Some kids have been doing that for years at a local betting track. Big tourist attraction. They make decent money, not as much as people selling tables and seats they reserved in the early hours. You have a workable model but you should you do it where the money is. Pokemon players aren't going to have it.
At casinos & tracks people are already there with the intention of spending money, they have it on their minds thinking they'll win. So they're more likely to make impulse purchases like that. Maybe put a thermometer next to your setup on hot days to urge that impulse buy.

Risk isn't bad on low end consumer junk, anything can be sold on ebay with a stock photo

Thanks for the advice, it's helpful knowing I could at least break even if things don't work out.
I can see pokemon GO not being the best audience, especially since excitement has faded. I found out about a yard sale day in my community, and you can get a map at the town hall. Think I'm going to find a concentrated spot and try selling water there, looks like it'll be a decently hot day. I figure people go to yard sales looking to spend money.

For yard sale customers I might set the price at $1.25 so if they try to bargain I can go to $1 firm. Makes them feel thrifty

Good idea, maybe I could make it 1.25 for one and 2 for 2 so I sell more and that could make people feel smart as well.

I know a guy who did that the week it came out. The town we live in had a Facebook group for Pokemon on the first day, so he advertised for people to come to "Poké-fest" on the college campus in town, at a spot with 3 poké-stops within range. They sold red, blue, and yellow bags of chips, drinks, and if you could show that you left one of the lures there, they'd give you a free snack

He made like $400. Then made tshirts and made more

How did they sell them? At a stand? I'm curious how they advertised it. Poke snacks, pokephenalia

I'm guessing he set up a table
Maybe I could do that, the group for my area seems pretty active. Although since I'm not in it they'll notice I'm some random trying to make money.

I'm still thinking about selling umbrellas at the pokemon walk going on tomorrow, there's going to be over a 100 people according to facebook. I figure I could sell 10 umbrellas, which would make me 50 bucks. Not a lot but it would be like 30 mins of work.

and theres over 200 "interested"

do it bro.

but think about this, you'll already be at the location selling one product, right? if you could sell a second product simultaneously that was easy to carry around, you could double your money while barely increasing your work.

Umbrellas, maybe ponchos?, vitamin water, candy, idk something bro.

Dude your entrepreneurial attitude is straight up inspiring. You don't give a FUK, you just want paid. Your idea is iffy but feasible and thats enough to go for it. It's like those stories of billionaires talking about how they started out by selling bent sticks to hobos or some shit.
Good luck brah.

I just realized I can just return the umbrellas if things don't work out, so I'm 100% going to try it.
Gonna get 3 blue, 3 red, 3 yellow, and 3 black umbrellas, so people can get one for their team and if there team is sold out they can get black.
I think people are really into supporting their team, so I could get drinks for each team. I won't really be at a location though, I'll show up to the pier at the beginning and try to sell them all then. So I don't know about selling drinks because people wont want them that early on. Might just do red blue and yellow ponchos.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Honestly standing like a fucking idiot for 30 minutes on campus trying to sell water out of a cooler with no one around was liberating in a way. Like I knew I looked dumb probably but I tried the idea and I'm still optimistic about it, and I know it wasn't entirely my fault since it turned out it was moving out day. I know my mistake, not picking a heavily populated area, and I can learn from it.

Fuck everyone, attention is good because it drives sales. You do look dumb but think of the gainsss

lol it truly is a no risk venture. please report back tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

GL HF

Thanks for the encouragement.

Minor problem, all the red, blue, or yellow on the walmart site are the expensive kind, the only cheap ones are the black ones. I don't think anyone will buy an umbrella for over $10 so I'm gonig to stick to black.

Any ideas for colored items I could sell? I will only be there for a short bit ideally so it can't be stand type stuff.

You are literally the biggest faggot ive ever seen. Stay poor, you cynical douche

>colored items
we don't call them that anymore bro

bandanas, hats, selfie sticks, idk it's harder than I thought to think of good items

I got it: Portable chargers

They're gonna need one if they plan on playing pokemon all day

Fuck, I just realized that portable chargers don't come charged, and I don't have time to charge them. Might sell the umbrellas, go home and charge the chargers, and then return in a couple hours when people need them.

No there is no such area where people are queuing to buy water bottles to street hustlers at a 1 customer/minute rate. If there was, you would draw so much attention that you can be sure someone with a legitimate business would settle in, tons of other hustlers would do the same shit, you'd probably be arrested.

two weeks later OP is working in burger king

>set up lure at pokestop
>open fire on everyone

why havest anyone done this

Fuck

All of yesterday accuweather tells me it's raining all day today, I wake up and check and it's only 50 % chance at 2. Now its 1:45 and I'm sure it's not going to rain. Might try to turn this into a water opportunity.

Look at the kind of people who are currently in the business. Do they look like they're making a lot of money? All the best spots are probably already taken and you're competing with the bottom rung of society. It's a shitty business model and not worth the time of anyone not who is not retarded and can speak proper English.

Just sell the watter bottles to the guards outside of saffron city. Those 4 cucks are always thursty.

>Not yet.
It's also a tool that pedophiles can use, to lure kids towards them.

Offer PokeBlowjobs. Think about it: the majority of people who play the game are fucking losers who have never had their cocks sucked before. They would pay for that blowjob bro. Especially if you dress up like a pokemon.

pic related: it's the money I made so far doing this in my local pokestop at the park. I dress up like a charmander. I think a pikatchu would make more money but my costume is currently in transit from the chinese supplier so charmander will have to do for now.

Turns out the "pokemon go takeover" was a shitfest. I went there to sell water around 2 and didn't see anyone, I messaged an acquaintance who was going and he told me it sucked from the beginning. I was anticipating a huge crowd of people sweating balls. Not gonna try any more of this stuff until next weekend's neighborhood garage sale day, I'll post an update in a week. Thanks all for the help and encouragement!
