You can't think of any game that really launched well when Dark Souls III less than a month ago blew everything out?
It's even more surprising on PC since we had to download some fixes for the first two; and the raw games at their releases were almost unplayable (horrible port, bad fps, crashes..) but still the 3rd one sold more than 1 million copy (only on pc) and hundreds of people are still playing it right now.

Dark Souls is a bit special tho, you can play actively all day without even progressing in the story. I know a lot of people with 200+hours and still playing today who didn't even kill the 4 Lords.
Get the weapon you want, the armor you want, the rings you want, and then invasions/pvp and the game is endless while you don't own more than 10% of the achievements.
But Dark Souls III is far from dead, so far.

i'm not playing it for hype: its a game for babies, now that everyone knows mature games are a waste of investment when kids have no hesitation about microtransactions. i'm playing because my gf loved the shit out of the beta, and i refuse to play any more borderlands with her, so battleborn is a solid compromise. that's worth $75 to me. besides, i'm a real adult with an adult job, so i'm not hording my allowance, and i don't get off on shrewd purchasing, so wgaf, it's just money.

just checked for bloodborne: only 63% of players beat father gascoigne. amusingly, 67% beat cleric beast. vicar amelia is at 50.7%.

normies will get bored and buy whatever is "hot" right now, not knowing what they are even getting into. most people don't know what's what and just get whatever is popular, assuming "20 million people can't be wrong" or something like that

If I get even 60 hours of fun out of this game, it'd be worth it. And the game doesn't go away just because /v/ says it's "dead," they stay playable long afterwards.

I played him for a few matches and my impression is that he's awful. His clothesline dash skill is just shit and he doesnt have enough health + shields for a big guy. He has like 30% damage reduction on his first helix which helps this but you need to slam them first.

Most of the time I take so much damage while midair I have to run away. You could play Attikus instead who is less shit but has more health.

I fail to understand why Overwatch's community hates Battleborn's. At this point, I feel like the "THEY'RE THE SAME GAME" argument is done now, once people realized they're actually pretty different. Overwatch is trying to be "Team Fortress 2: Pixar Edition" and Battleborn is trying "Borderlands: MOBA Edition". They're very different games at the end of the day and if you compare them too much, you're only gonna get assblasted when you realize the entire argument you were going to use is wrong now.

That being said, I really am enjoying BB a lot. I tried the beta with no expectations, considering 2016 has fucking blown in terms of vidya and was pleasantly surprised. Overwatch is exactly what I expected and I'm happy with that as well. The only thing Gearbox fucked up with was releasing it so close to the Overwatch beta/release date, as I'm sure a bit more polish, such as fixing exploits, balance changes and FUCKING PERFORMANCE ISSUES would have been great. A lower price would have been great ($30-$40) as well, but I can't complain, I got my copy for $35.

All in all, both games are fun and they accomplish different things. Play the one that resonates with you most or play both. Seriously, this shit is almost as annoying as the detractors that constantly posted that Dungeon Fighter Online is a ded game back in /dfog/, yet that shit is still kicking, last I checked.

the tone and art direction are 100% for babies. the rest of it is just another team based objective game with characteristics borrowed from mobas.

and i think mobas are dumb. any asshat can make things complicated by dumping more shit in there, and all the "complexity" they have really come from the original WC3 DOTA mod, and are largely inherited from the complexity of the RTS game it was made out of.

I read that you can take co-op loot and use it in multiplayer. How does that work in a moba-esque game where everyone starts at level 1? Does getting the best weapons give you any kind of boost in gameplay?

well, you can get a musical instrument for 1 - 2 hundred bucks and that'll last for years until you get good and want to upgrade. weights for lifting also are pretty cheap and last forever. lots of hobbies out there that is much cheaper. just sayin

basically, some smart kids think it's hilarious to see poor kids badly justify their purchases, so they tease them about what a colossal mistake they made, and the poor dumb kids don't realize someone is just goading them, so they get all up in arms about it. then the smart kid does the same on whatever is the "other" (different console, different political candidate, different game, whatever) and plays the same game. then both bunches of idiots are mad at eachother, and start mounting "attacks" and other moronic shit instead of enjoying their game as much as they can.

unfortunately, all this bullshit looks like "engagement" to advertisers and social media companies, so they don't give a shit about how toxic it makes the [anything] community.

there's no weapons to equip: it's all just +2% lard resistance with -200 gall adjective-adjective-noun stuff. imagine moba gear through the gearbox "millions of posibilities" gear lens.

Shards take a while to accumulate in pvp, they give you little shards around the map which respawn at the start and then every time a few minutes passes the big ones spawn.

You want to build turrets and stuff in pvp to control the map, and that costs shards as well as giving you some exp which doesnt come easy early game. Most of the gears don't give that big game changing effects as I've seen, even the legendary ones are more or less minimal costing 1800 shards. Though the best gear so far is the sprint boost which is your boots in moba games. I tried the movement+ gear and I don't feel any difference.

the gear has a cost to activate, so sure you can get a hyper mega destroyer piece of gear, but you won't get to use it for ages since it'll cost a fortune.

yeh its a shame its a pretty fun game though finding gearsets seems to be abit silly especially since one of its key selling points to me is that its a moba. but that leaves for diverse loadouts instead of people just throwing up OP loadouts and people copying them a la dota, smite, lol etc

i think battle born is more fairly built than evolve. evolve had the problem that teams were either miserable shit, making it only fun for the monster, or too good to for the monster player to handle, with no in between. plus, most of the monsters were locked behind a grind, so no one was having fun and abandoned it.

bb won't blow any barns down, but it'll last longer than evolve, even if it's badly balanced forever, because they didn't badly handle the inherent problems in an asymmetrical team-based game.

Its the worst offender of wave defense all the other ones were tolerable (on normal at least) but chapter 7 is bull on normal, and KH mysterious figure levels of frustrating on advanced.

But they don't have that high off an intelligence and pretty much just fuck around most of the time and is not highly advanced in term of technology. His damage is far to strong and his damage reduction from ulting needs a serious nerf. Its also really obnoxious how strong his slow is on top of damage reduction.

Most players don't even do pontiff because they're only in the area for the PVP. which is stange considering 2 of the main pvp factions are after you kill him.
