I want to go full rival with merrill cause the rivalries seem interesting (i've never really gotten them naturally because it seems like one conversation i'll piss off anders but make fenris happy, then the next i'll bother merrill but please anders, and everything just hovers towards the middle). but it's kind of hard to be a dick to merrill. she's an idiot but it's like kicking a puppy every time i have to shut her down. granted it's a retarded puppy that's holding a loaded shotgun without knowing it, but a puppy nonetheless

I'm pretty sure not. I know i'm missing some of this shit myself and at some point I went through the list on the wiki, and determined there was either better or equivalent shit available in the base game / "insert-class-here pack" dlcs

I'm in love with this series, origins is fantastic, 2 is riddled with problems but still has quite a few highpoints. I can't play DA:I on my toaster so I cant comment there, but I'm so tired of no one wanting to talk about the mechanics or characters or even waifus.

as for the appearance, fine, matter of opinion.

what I really want to converse about are the game mechanics. fenris and anders are huge shits as far as personality goes, but you can make them into unstoppable murder machines with the right ability and tactic selections. I like the idea of overcoming DA2's bad combat by gaming the system.

it really doesn't though. DA2's combat problem is the way it sends wave after wave of enemies at you, that's shitty. but the mechanics of your actual abilities can be reasonably interesting. the cross-class-combo system isn't as good as DA:O's spell-combo system, but it's still quite competent.

I literally never used DA2 or DAI combos because the combat is easy enough if you just click autoattack

well if you just don't care about using the function, then obviously you wouldn't get anything out of it. but you can utterly annihilate foes in a fraction of the time if you can be bothered to set up the system

>have your rogue use an ability that exploits stagger on the walking bomb target
>a halfdozen enemies explode and infect nearby enemies with a new walking bomb
>your rogue inflicts disorient on the remaining enemies which enhances walking bomb
>your mage exploits the disorient with a spirit bolt and blows up all the rest

sure you can get through DA2 without bothering to ever care about these systems, but isn't that the fun of it? did you never bother to shatter enemies in DA:O or light grease fires? IMO utilizing these mechanics to their fullest is half the fun

that's the appeal for me; winning the fight, fine, that's easy enough. winning the fight as fast and as devastatingly as possible, that's the goal.
