I will never understand why they introduced Marie. The game and team dynamic was fine without her. She's completely unlikable and all of her social link events are just button-mashing to get through her ridiculous dialogue. She's a near perfect mary sue... in that when she's not around, characters are asking where she is; when she is around, the scene revolves around her; she's mysterious, has secret powers and role, is vulnerable and needs saving, etc.

The only other character who has filled me with such outright hate is Sochie from Turn A Gundam

She is by far the least popular Persona character created, it's astonishing how utterly useless her existence was.

I think Atlus realized this and minimalized her role entirely after P4G. She's comedy relief in Q, has 5 lines in Ultimax. They don't even mention her by name in DAN and go out of their way to avoid talking about her in general.

I hate that soft, ruffly kind of feel those characters have. Based just on design the other two are better by default, but none really click with me. I might have really weird tastes though. In P3 I preferred Mitsuru best and then Yukari based on looks, and in P4 it was Yukiko and then Rise.

I like how she doesn't appear in any of the CGs, even the one where Teddie is imagining other girls in bikins, and that she's the only playable character that doesn't appear in the opening. It's like they entirely forgot she exists and then tried to kinda insert her into the story. Even Mitsuru's maid was more important and got more screentime.

The fact that the shadows look like demons is indicator that Philemon is getting stronger. The shadows were beginning to turn into blobby kegare as of EP and was explained in EPP that it was due to Philemon becoming weak, which affected the hearts of humans.

Igor's voice sounded unreal there, like it wasn't even him talking. Maybe the big bads hijacked the Velvet Room and took control of it, and are using the world of personas to make all their cash which is what drives the plot and why the crew is being pursued for knowing too much. So in that case, Philemon's guys would have the Velvet Room turned against them if they got caught.

I have a far more likely explanation of Phantom's imprisonment as per occam's razor: it's just thematic.

The game's message seems to be something like shaking off the chains of the current evil society and its complacent acceptance of sinful people in power, who are keeping the plebeians down yet they choose to be blind to it. In that thread, when Phantom goes to the VR that message is made physical by having him be imprisoned, just as how his real self is a prisoner of society. Igor also says he needs "rehabilitation", so that can be taken to mean that he needs to use his powers to change the world around him and its "sickness", and only then will he truly be free.

It could be something else, but that fits.
