As far as I understand flash grenades is that they work in a set area whether you see them or not. Using eyeprotection such as welding goggles or sunglasses reduces the stun and using ear protection reduces it further. Not sure if you can negate it entierly. When you activate it it automatically puts throw intent on. Distance from the grenade seems to affect the length of the stun.
