Don't let the artstyle put you off. It's a bit slow to start, but lots of fun once you get into it. Objective oriented, solid combat, good map design.

Why on earth would anyone ever take this "fire all at once" mortar upgrade, it turns a precise and long range tool into wet diarrhea.

If you take that and the upgrade that makes it drain your shields for additional damage, it becomes a ridiculously damaging explosive shotgun.
I chose it because I literally have no idea what I'm doing when I play him. Chair Man seems pretty hard to use, especially because he is so fucking squishy.

But if you take the one that drains shields you're making yourself a primo target. Kleese has shit health.
Kleese should always be in his nest of shield generators, so the tiny moment you spend shieldless should not be a huge problem.

It took a few matches of getting stomped to get good with him, but now I am consistently going 9/1 or better with this motherfucker.

I just found out Montana's knockback can stun people if they hit a wall. That makes me wonder how many other knockbacks can do the same. Doesn't Caldarius and Deande also have a knockback?

Cal's doesn't stun, just gives him a chance to wave his gun and dick in your face before you get flashbanged at PB range.

If you're good at placing his trap behind, or pulling people into your forward placing traps, probably.
Using his ridiculously overpowered quick melee is also helpful.

No. He means Smash to juggle on their head while they melee you to death. If you're using dreadwind in a 1v1 and you didn't start at a big health disadvantage, you're bad.
Is Rath actually any good? During the Beta I kept eating people who played Rath alive.
Yes. Not front lines initiator, but you should be right behind your melee. You can also get someone to chase you and throw a trap in front of you then run over it.
His stun + free critical point blank shots do enough damage to 1v1 basically anyone, especially once you get hook drain and double barrels.
He's mediocre until ~4 but after that he becomes pretty dangerous. I havn't played him in a while but towards the launch of the game I usually went at least 5:1 k/d, often with 15-20 kills.. The rise of Galilea cruch players made him less viable.

yes, but like most melee characters, newbies will get greedy with him and dive too deep into the enemy line and die often.

Even then, he's fully capable of killing the enemies himself. He's more like a pudge than a blitzcrank.

gearbox said the consoles are more popular, though they didn't give specific numbers at the time. pc has/had the lowest population.
Real good for pushing waves. I mostly used them with the slow helix to land more rail gun shots.
