Strictly speaking, there is no confirmation of the Kingdom Key set being any different from any other Keyblade, and the only evidence thereof is matching designs, which could likely be some aesthetic theming and little else.

I finally truly figured out what it means when a Medal is "random" target.

Every hit in the ability has a random target. I'm not sure if each hit can change between field/single, but I just used Marluxia Boss on a group of three and I absolutely noticed that they weren't all being hit evenly.

So... that's a lot less reliable than I had initially thought.
