Alright I want to get back in the saddle of doing reviews so let's talk about Anodyne for a bit, shall we? Today I'll be blathering on about the adventure title, Anodyne, as developed by Sean HTCH and Joni Kittaka.

Now this game is a bit of weird one. You play as Young who at the behest of the Village Elder, Sage, needs to stop the Evil Darkness from reaching the Legendary Briar and destroying the world. And that's about all you're given for plot. The game has Young travelling from one mind-trip to another as the connection between the each world is rather jarring. The whole experience is rather surreal as you travel from various locations with seemingly no rhyme or reason such as forest, circus, hotel, and red fleshy dungeon in a whirlpool. All of this with a gameplay style that reminds me of A Link to the Past with its fluid movement, pixel-aesthetic, and handle on puzzles. And puzzles are a solid part of the gameplay; usually involving pressing switches and moving clumps of dust around with the broom Young wields as his weapon.

When I say that's all you're given in story I really do mean that. There's plenty of dialogue but it doesn't seems to put together a full picture or even part of one. I mean sure something may have flown over my head but I'll leave that to the theorists and just go with the general consensus that this game is surrealer than a Beatle's music video on heroine. It leads to some interesting experiences but it also left the ending feeling rather meh. It's hard to give something payoff when you don't make it clear what you're building up to or what everything is for. All that aside I suppose to question to ask is "Is the game fun?". And to that I say yes. I enjoyed exploring the strange worlds, defeating the slew of bosses, all while a trippy but fitting soundtrack accompanied me.The game as a whole gives off vibes of Earthbound and Yume Nikki in terms of its strangeness and I couldn't get enough.

If that sounds appealing then go buy it. Don't have the money? Just use the torrent the devs set up and pay them later. They did that, I shitteth thee naught. It seems as if someone is savvy on the mindset of pirates.

I know sampling is normal in music, but both these soundtracks are a lot less impressive once you hear how unchanged it is, sometimes just looping a single sample is almost the entire track.

Very few female characters, plus Sugar and Queenie aren't that fappable although Cinnamom or however you spell it did a pretty good job with the former.

I'm thoroughly enjoying making my little title graphic. It looks like I ripped it out of a high-budget '90s-era game - which is exactly what I wanted it to look like. Very happy with how this is turning out.

I think that you forgot about the OP format taken from like two months ago.

Why am I so bad at Rogue Legacy? At what point am I supposed to be able to beat the first giant eye boss? Motherfucker's wall of fire(?) is impossible to avoid.
