Broadsword scales with both str and dex, whips scale with just dex.

So I've done a lot of PvPing in Souls over the years, but I've never, ever actually tried to learn how to parry.

The 265 goes away because of the enemy's defenses. 265 is what you would do if they had 0 defense.

You AR is multiplied by a move multiplier (1H, 2H, rolling and running attacks have different multipliers). Then the damage you'd do is reduced by the enemy's defence values.
