You usually have to know someone in the guild/actually talk and have an interest in the game. We don't just accept everyone that applies with Veeky Forums like dump does. Usually helps if you have interest in doing PvE.

Usually comes down to asking the guild as a whole if they have objections/know the person and all.

Doesn't really matter much if the whole guild ultimately doesn't care unless said person has already proven themselves to be a turbo twat.

Roles rarely matter. There's a decent pool of all classes so it's not really important.

So I just hit 65 on my slayer and I was wondering should I just do all of the story quests and get Idoneal or should I try to get some other gear?

You need idoneal to have the ilevel to queue for dungeons for any other gear which is easy enough to get that you shouldn't spend money getting schisma crafted or anything.

schisma is outdated tomorrow, so you can just afk, or gather some vgc, and feedstock, for next patch.

Especially since feedstock basically goes away except for straight drops of feedstock in small quantities and the enchanting system goes back to the old fodder system basically.
