Why do people think anyone gave a shit about Pearl Harbor in 1941...

Why do people think anyone gave a shit about Pearl Harbor in 1941? Hawaii wasn't even a state and 80% of the people living there were Japs or Polynesians.

Obviously people gave a enough a shit about it to wholeheartedly support going into war with japan and the gnatzees.

That's propaganda for you.
>obviously people gave enough shit about
>the maine
>the lusitania
>possible maybe WMDs
etc.

It wasn't about DA PEEPUL moron, it was about the fleet.

why would they not care about an attack on a U.S. military base?

Maybe. Or maybe they were told to care. There wasn't a public outrage when the Japs bombed a US ship back in 1938.
Also the prevailing narrative is that PH was an attack on the "mainland" which is completely bogus.

Holy fuck not everything is a CIA MK ULTRA psyops propoganda designed to brainwash le sheeple, maybe most people would object to a foreign fucking nation attacking, killing and terrorizing fellow citizens on your territory?

There's quite a difference between bombing a gunboat located in China when Hapan is at war with the Chinese, and the Japanese sailing thousands of kilometers to attack a USN base and sink 4 battleships.

kek Pearl Harbor was a pure military attack. It destroyed navy boats and air force fields.

Fast forward a couple of months and the Doolitle ride targets were most residential areas of Tokyo.

Battleships were points of national pride and had been since the ABCD era (post civil war modernization of the USN).

start shit get hit

>Why do people think anyone gave a shit about Pearl Harbor in 1941?
because it was a US naval base and up until then America thought it was a big powerful juggernaut. When you get blindsighted out of almost nowhere it makes you smell the coffee

>surprise attack without a declaration of war kills thousands of young Americans
>"lol why would they give a shit about that?"

Veeky Forums is truly going to shit.

>blindsighted out of almost nowhere
You do realize the PacFleet was put in Pearl Harbor for the express purpose of dickwaving at the Japs, right?

>up until then America thought it was a big powerful juggernaut
>implying it wasn't
>implying the Japanese admiral wasn't trembling in certain fear for having awakened the "sleeping giant"
The US was waiting for the right time to join the war just like during WWI. Latecomer to both, victor of both.

>US has territory in the Pacific
>US has trade ties in the Pacific
>why would you put military units there that's so provocative

I can spell Doritos coming off of your fingers, onto the keyboard, and then into your post.

Why do you even bother posting in a thread that's completely above you? US had all those before 1941, but the PacFleet was always stationed in California. The PacFleet was at Pearl Harbor for exactly one reason, to escalate the conflict with Japan. US was not blindsided because the attack was the exact result the stationing the PacFleet at Pearl Harbor was supposed to bring. If there was any surprise, it was the effectiveness of the Jap attack.

The nips had already escalated the war when they seized Manchuria and were preparing to seize the US bases. Or is it just a coincidence Guam was invaded the day after?

You retard. Manchuria was taken almost a decade before PH attack.

So what? The Japanese had been bombing plenty of residential areas in China for some time. By the way the areas in that were targeted in the Doolittle raid were Industrial and military ones.

Yes', but as the invasion of Guam proved it wasn't enough and they had drawn up plans to conquer the entirety of East and South Asia

>worried about Japan attacking US territories in the Pacific
>station naval fleet in Hawaii to discourage such acts
>"HURR WHY WAS THE US TRYING TO START A WAR WITH JAPAN BY BEING SO PROVOCATIVE??"

Let me guess, women who dress a certain way deserve to be raped, right?
