/acg/-Armored Core General

Thank god for the shitposting/bumping. The thread just fucking dies in my time zone and when I did post 3DPG, it never bumped (dunno why, probably because tits).

So what AC game is most similar to something like Ace Combat, where you fight squadrons (for lack of a better word) of elite enemies instead of supermechs as boss battles?

Probably the V era games? You rarely get any allies helping you (unless you count UNACs in VD), but you do fight multiple enemy ACs pretty often. There's also the fact that the V era games have some of the most dangerous grunt enemies in modern AC games, so even when you're fighting mooks you have to be kind of careful. Of course, there's still the super powered boss battles all over the place so it doesn't really count. I don't know much about Ace Combat but I don't think the two series can compare that well.

LR mainly is 1vs1 fights, after that followed by another 1vs1 sometimes.

I wil say VD since there is a lot of AC fights and most of them are 1vs2.

FA is close to the squadron fight in all endings.

The multiplayer component of V and Verdict Day, though V's servers are down.

AC 4A, 5 and VD.

You'll enjoy the missions in those games. ACFA has the best laid out story and the servers are still up, V has 1v2 galore and can port your save into VD. VD has literally loads of missions, again lots of 1v2 and servers still up.

Anyone ever try doing a full playthrough using only one company's parts? I was thinking of trying a GA run in For Answer to see if I can beat it without going fast. Anyone ever try something like this?

I once did a Stinger run of Nexus. All the frame parts and weapons are Mirage, so I chose a Mirage generator and radiator then went to town.
It was pretty awful. No AMS, the Dragon is garbage, the blade hits decently hard but has a long reload time, and you have no AP. I had to switch the Dragon for a plasma rifle in order to have the damage necessary to finish the game.

Watched some footage of AC Nexus, is it just me or did they beef up the sound effects and pretty much everything as the games released?

Also, saw the carnage known as the Finger. Rinsed through ammo but was brutal to the enemy AC.

Aesthetic-wise and purpose-wise, one of the cover ACs from Armored Core 2. Not the blue guy with the sawa, but the guy he fights against. He's got such a boxy robot look. I love a little bulk on my robots, and I'm not too fond of the sleek and sharp fellas.

the final mission on that storyline is fucking bullshit... every other mission i S ranked but that on hard, no chance, abused every bs part to S-rank it on normal, kojima arms + shoulder charged to max and 1 shotting them 1 by 1

As far as I remember, never. We've had someone local who tried to start that a few times.
Now, as for the last time someone from the other /acg/ swung by and let us know, it's been a few months. I believe he had some words of encouragement and a bump for us.

the armored core series just left me with a bad taste in my mouth after the second one. There really is a tragic lack of good Mech games out there.

I was garbage at making robots though so I ended up with the Dick Cannon.

Regular humanoidish robot, but main weapon was a huge cannon where the dick would be. It was surprisingly effective.
