I feel like the Backstab recognition in this game is broken, In Dark Souls 1 we had lag stabs, but at least they worked properly. So many times I've encountered since release I would do the parry animation, the enemy would be stunned and the somehow roll before the hit happens.
PvP right needs a lot of fixing. So many issues with hit recognition that spamming R1 can actually work, and to counter that spamming L2 can work. It's actually pretty fucking stupid.

Cemetary of Ash - 3/5 it's okay. Very bland for a tutorial area but the boss sets the right mood Firelink Shrine - 5/5/ comfy as fuck, good music, good layout. Highwall of Lothric - 2/5 well made, but boring to traverse Undead Settlement - 5/5 everything about it is fucking great Road os Sacrifices - 1/5 look like something striaght from DaS2 Cathedral of the Deep - 5/5 My favorite area in the game Farron Keep - 0/5 I always aim to leave this place the fastest way I can Catacombs - 3/5 It has good concepts but the layout and enemies are not very good Smouldering Lake - 4/5 I like how eerie this area is, specially the part surrounding the ballista. Feels like something out of the world Demon Runs - 0/5 Copy pasted shit with goat enemies and cool demons that don't drop their sets Irithyl pre Suly - 4/5 Looks great, but it's basically boring corridors and the enemies are bullshit. Suly is fucking great Irithul after Suly and Anor Londo - 3/5 It's okay. Impressive the first time but after deep looking into it, it comes across as very bland Dungeon - 4/5 amazing atmosphere and enemies, my only complaints is that the jailers can't kill you with the drain and the area itself is too small, you can run by it in seconds. Profaned Capital - 1/5 it's like Heide Tower of Flame. Looks amazing from the outside. Period. Lothric Castle 3/5 - recycled enemies powered up and boring deisng. Would be a 1/5 but Dragonslayer Armour is just amazing. King's Garden 1/5- It's a room full of enemies you'd rather avoid. The boss looks amazing but the battle itself doesn't work. Grand Archives 4/5 - Would be a 5/5 if wasn't for the buffed goblins. Princes are the best boss in the game. Untended Graves 5/5 - I can't explain why a recycled area feels so fucking great. Champ is an amazing boss. Archdragon Peak 3/5 - The area looks great but the enemies are cheap and the wyvern is puzzle carp. Nameless King is the only good enemy in the whole area. Kiln 3/5 - It's okay. The arena looks great.

How do those two even coincide? The backstab/parry shit is working perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong with it. It's not instant backstabs like before, but a variation of DS2's where you have to land an animation to cause the enemy to get stuck in the backstab animation and take the damage.
