I get the impression that you have to use close combat for real damage and I really like Hope in my team (alone for the fact that she can share tension points): How do I can make knives have a at least decent damage output? Or what's their advantage? It seems that every other weapon do more damage and the game try to screams at me: "don't fucking use knives".

You can set knives to deal lots of damages per enemy debuff or as a sleeper wonder.

I forgot how fun on-foot overdrive can be, butchered one of the Defininan caves in Cauldros with it.. Been using my Skell way too much.

There's Screamer to put an enemy to sleep and make a build based on it, unreliable with AI.
Then there's Black Bane that deals extra damage for every debuff on the enemy, try to apply as many as you can: melee X, blaze, sleep, shock...
Else, Knife is support.
