Hey /dg/, how would you describe this game using other games? I'm trying to decide whether it'd be 'worth it' to invest money in buying it.

I've played the trial, and right now it seems like a particularly edgy variation on the Borderlands formula (loot a bunch of weapons/gear with random affixes, have a couple defined classes with active and passive skills which may or may not add or detract from the gameplay), combine with MMORPG-style instanced raids/sessions. Is this about right?

I know the general discussing it is probably the wrong place to ask, as all of you are probably either super into it and will recommend it no matter what, or bitter about your own choice to buy it and will de-recommend it no matter what, but I'm just trying to get a bit of a feel for if the game 'takes off' past the trial phase. I haven't really felt any sense of "man, this is fucking amazing" so far, more like "yeah, this is neat, but I wouldn't drop even 30 bucks to buy the Legendary Edition..."

How can I get myself in a position to tap the enemy as they spawn in? Whenever I grrr near their spawn points, they start spawning the other side of the map and I have to run around like a schmuck instead of being all cool-like and slotting fuckers like it ain't no thing.

Okay guys, still grinding, just got up to 298. I'm hitting roadblocks. My striker is fully maxed out, my defender only has the basics (super, grenade, melee). If I joined a king's fall raid with my incomplete defender/maxed striker would I be booed off? I am hoping at least to unlock inc. control jump beforehand because skating has saved me so much

defender is the preferred class, but seeing as warlocks can make it through just fine, it shouldn't be a huge deal to take you through.

But work on Defender, it has damage/defense increase buffs for your team that come in handy for the boss encounters.

Noob here i'll give you my take. Story missions are pretty fun, a few epic moments nothing to write home about compared to say Halo. Strikes are pretty decent they get you used to mechanics, Heroic strikes well they are awesome, probably the best multiplayer experience I've had in a long time. It's right on that border where you are saying, "oh shit we're never going to beat the boss, it's over" to winning by the skin of your teeth because of a few clutch moves. I love it

So leveling defender in King's fall is okay? I only have a few perks that increase duration, jump etc. as opposed to weapon of light and other goodies.

don't level it IN KF, per se, but work on it in between raids. pick up bounties, complete them, and have defender equipped when you turn them in for exp.

No level it up in crucible, strikes, bounties. Don't bother going into kings fall without defender at least up to blessing of light. That perk is essential for the whole raid

Or just run strikes as a defender and pick up your bounties that way. More xp, rep etc. Plus you get to use the defender in the best situation, learn about the toys.

All the other subclasses I found best to level up on patrol, defender I just ran strike after strike.

Does the demo come with the sepiks prime strike? That's a good example of what you'll do most of the endgame. The newer stuff has a bit more in the way of mechanics that make it interesting, like a melee boss fight in the dark for example.
