Smoker is the Garp type and with his current rank of vice admiral he already can do whatever he wants. I think fujitora will be the future fleet admiral.

Here is my theory, it's all speculation and autism so take it with a grain of salt.

First of all One Piece is not a samurai manga and fighting with swords is just a niche fighting style no different than Fishman karate for example. So better swordsman =/= stronger fighter.

If the strongest swordsman title goes like this Rayleigh > Shanks > Mihawk >Zoro. It would be safe to assume Ray trained Shanks, Shanks Mihawk and Mihawk Zoro. We know Shanks and Mihawk used to fight but they stopped when Shanks lost his arm. Those battles could easily be Shanks training Mihawk either directly or indirectly, when Shanks lost his dominant arm Mihawk surfaced him in the art of using the sword.

Now, why would Zoro train Tashigi? Kuina's will of course. She was told that a woman could never be a good swordsman. Zoro would do it for her to prove that a girl can indeed be the very best.

Y'know, Yoru is pretty big. Maybe when Zoro eventually beats Mihawk, he'll break Yoru in the process (as a reversed callback to their first fight), and then have it reforged into two swords.
