ITT: /pol/tards trying to say that all serial killers are niggers

America's got a much larger population than any other western country, as well as a good police force that allows them to catch them. Plenty come out of places like China as well, though it never hits our news. The one with the highest body count (around 138 confirmed) is from Colombia, and many have been from other countries in the region. Just doesn't ever hit our news.

Also, 60's, 70's and 80's were a sweet spot where TV was popular enough for them to get the attention they needed, but before police started to be able to more successfully control what the media said and what information they got their hands on in these cases. These days you start throwing around juicy details and the station's likely to get hit with an obstruction of justice suit.

Also worth noting is that heaps of those people listed as serial killers are doing it in gang violence. It's still more than 3 and as such is serial murder, but they're not typical serial killers.

I think Bundy is endlessly fascinating. Most serial killers lose their mystique once you figure out how they tick and the forces that shaped them, but Bundy just gets more interesting the deeper you go

He was also qt

His story is clear: remove foot fetishists.

It only stopped because fetlife and other types of networking came into existance

How so? I always thought of him as a cut and dry sexually sadistic, narcissistic psychopath.

Bundy's interesting because there's something inherently human about him I think. He looks like he could easily be your neighbor, someone you'd feel comfortable leaving your kids with, unlike any of the other big American serial killers.

Even his looks, he's good looking, but not in a stand out "Holy shit he's hot" sort of way, but in a very personable one, if that makes sense. It fits into the "he could easily be your neighbor" thing, whereas someone like Richard Ramirez, who was very model looking, didn't.

That's just my opinion though, he's got this combination of the domestic and the extremely evil, which I think fascinates people.

I've had four girls independently tell me I look like Ted Bundy

God damn that man he's a scourge on my life

Yeah, it's that disconnect between the facade he put up and his interior world, which was a black hole of destruction. Hardly anyone who knew Bundy personally could believe he was capable of such acts, at least until the evidence was overwhelming

He's almost the all american serial killer as far as I can see it, he was a law student, really well liked and social, but then completely evil on the other side.

It's a really unique combination of being a really easy to relate to person and being so destructive is what it is. Everything about his mannerisms up until his death was incredibly likable and easy to feel like you could just as easily be in his situation if you were unlucky, yet he was also known for being insanely manipulative by his doctors and guards, to the point where they'd just rarely trust anything he told them. To this day I don't think anyone really knows why he did it, the whole porn addiction story was pretty obviously not the main reason, true or not.

It really is more interesting than someone like Jeffrey Dahmer, who once you figure out why he did what he did just becomes kind of a sad story.

I have a feeling the rise of the Internet has helped stem the tide of serial killings, at least those not related to gang violence.

Think of it this way: before the Internet, there was no real way for people with fetishes or latent paraphilias to 'vent' their frustrations, such that these eventually led to people simply snapping and going all the way. Nowadays, you can go to DeviantArt or FetLife and have a wank over the most autistic of fetishes and even find people discussing it, something unthinkable back then.

Copycats. Same reason there's more Islamic terrorism these days.

Wasn't it just about gettin off?

He blamed pornography in his final interview when he realised Dobson (the interviewer and anti-pornography activist) wanted to steer to conversation in that direction

This is a classic moment

youtube.com/watch?v=Vusa-T2VMKk

>"I had asked Ted to do me one favor, as his lawyer, and to not discuss the Florida crimes, just in case we got a stay of execution at the very last minute. On the tape, Dobson asks him about the murder of Kimberly Leach. Ted hesitates and glances around, deciding what to do. I love that moment. I love to see Ted struggling with my instructions, deciding whether to restrain himself or do as he pleases, assert control. He finally chokes out that he can't talk about it, though he'd like to.

>That few seconds of film is Ted's gift to me. The Reverend Dobson interprets his hesitation as overwhelming remorse.

>That was my gift to Ted."

>Defending the Devil, Polly Nelson

that fucking look at the end

>He blamed pornography in his final interview when he realised Dobson (the interviewer and anti-pornography activist) wanted to steer to conversation in that direction

Hadn't he blamed it in earlier interviews too though? He came up with a pretty well fleshed out story if it was just improvised. Though it's possible.

>youtube.com/watch?v=Vusa-T2VMKk

I always found this interview really great, on par with some of the ones by Ed Kemp or Charles Manson really. There's this weird combination between obvious acting and seemingly really sincere emotion. I'd argue that him never actually talking about that particular murder is a way for him to keep control up until he died though. If he seemed regretful for that one and no others, he could always be a bit of a mystery, instead of just a nutcase like Gary Ridgeway or someone that just was angry and got off on murder.

>Hadn't he blamed it in earlier interviews too though?

Probably. For Bundy he was never the one at fault, it was nearly always some external cause that turned him into a monster. I say nearly because he did slip up on occasion. There's an anecdote one of his lawyers shared about visiting Bundy in prison and finding him a slobbering mess on the floor of his cell. He asked Ted why he was crying to which he replied "I want to be a good person, I'm just not". One his girlfriends also recalled Ted agonising over his inability to connect with other people on any meaningful level. This sets him apart from other sadistic sociopaths I think. There was some small part of him that knew he was fucked up

Hmm

He's a good actor

I think that's pretty accurate, though it seems to be somewhat common in highly intelligent serial killers. Ed Kemper, another highly intelligent serial killer said similar stuff. He seemed to be less manipulative, but he said he always knew at some point that he was fucked pretty badly, or at least did once he was an adult, and that he hated this about himself.

Though to use Manson as another example, he seems to just not give two shits, or at least be good enough at the act to never have let anyone know he did.

With the example of Ted in his cell though, do you think that it was more regret that he had fucked his life up so much, or remorse for his crimes? As in do you think it was "I wish I'd never done these things because they're terrible and hurt others so much" or "I wish I'd never done these things because if I was a better person I wouldn't be in prison right now".

thx senpai

I think in Ted's case he just desperately wanted to be normal, decent person. For example when he worked at the suicide crisis hotline, or volunteered with Mormons, or did any other number of good, seemingly moralistic deeds, I don't think this was a calculated effort on his part to throw people off, but he was really trying to find some good within himself. He was like this right up to the end with his final words, "Give my love to my friends and family". Imagine the pain of such an existence

Bundy is interesting because he looks human and personable but he is nothing on the inside. Bunch looked like the prototypical "8/10 rugged good looking American guy" and people trusted him for it, and he could put on anything he wanted to put on, but in the inside he legitimately was a ghost, a no one. He's like that Talking Heads song, he was both seen and not seen, he could basically change his face and no one would have been the wiser
Couple that with his body count and his brutality, and he is the perfect serial killer to capture America's imagination. He said that being American was being and living with strangers, and he was the perfect stranger

It was the hot new thing for psychotic criminals

in the 20's-30's it was bank robbery, nowadays it's mass shooters

What will it be in the future? Terrorism?

55 thousand people died in my country last year, the thing is over 80% of homicide cases aren't solved (I'd bet it's even higher than 80) so probably many serial killers get to roam free.

Got murdered*
Should've specified.

Easy access to guns, inept police, large country, where it is easy to skip towns.

>76% of serial killers come from America
76% of the ones that you know. east europe probably has much more, but you don't know about them because it's east europe.
same with central asia or africa.

He kinda of has that crazy-bitch eyes.

There were no more serial killers than in an any other period, it's just the press and the entertainment media hyped that shit up endlessly. It's borderline crazy how much the media can warp your perception of reality, really.

>It has occurred to him that the 'crazy eyes' phenomenon in all girls and some guys is just the hallmark of psychopathy

Due you have any evidence to suggest there wasn't a rise of serial killings in the mid to late 20th century?

Where're you from?

/Thread

Do you have evidence to suggest there is? The burden of proof is on you because the entertainment media argument has been pushed through. Also, in the late 20th century and particularly in the United States, most 'serial killings' took place in Urban areas and American Urban areas are pretty densely populated. I'd imagine hundreds of years ago without forensics, security cameras and all that psychopaths with a compulsion would roam the countryside killing hundreds upon hundreds

>proving a negative

Do you have evidence I didn't fuck your mam yesterday?

1. Police was utter shit
2. Nowadays mass shootings are more popular for sociopaths due to everyone being a betacuck
3. Americas weird-ass housing system in the less urban areas is really welcoming to the "lurking creeper" types - noone sees you etc.

It's like with those UFO sightings in the 50s, shit wasn't actually happening but the media hyped it up insanely.

Also look at the movies made between the 60s and the 80s, from Psycho through Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween to Friday the 13th, Portrait of a killer and Manhunter, the entertainment industry fueled a serial killer craze.

Mass shootings are also a media meme. Some press agencies even started counting gang related driveby as mass shooting.

People that thought he's normal hadn't have a proper look at him.

Who is the most culturally significant serial killer?

Ted Bundy

Not deservingly though, Zodiac Killer was GOAT

John Wayne Gacy. Really showed that before millenials, people did not give a flying frick about kids.

What's going on in here

Huge shift in politics.

This creates disillusionment. Aka misfits.

Wow, this guy looks like a real jerk.

can you imagine how many african serial killers are out there? or can the term serial killer not apply if they aren't intelligent?

Brazil

A lot of it is gang related, lynching innocents, petty rivalries and poor people acting out, as well as rich psychos acting out.
But I don't doubt there are serial killers out here, I know a few were uncovered but there must be way more considering the amount of crime that goes unsolved.

The future is now

Serial killing in the United States dropped way off with the advent of trace evidence/DNA analysis. It's much harder to commit a series of crimes of any kind over a long period because of physical (and now digital) evidence trails that used to be undetectable. Serial murder still occurs in the ghetto and poor countries. There are still active serial killers from the past few years as well (that one in Long Island and the one or more on the Trail of Tears in Canada) but they are probably long-haul truckers or other types with a mobile lifestyle.

What OP is really asking about is the historical prevalence of psychosexually motivated murders and their relationship with culture.

In America it's Ed Gein and it's not even close.

Globally, probably Jack the Ripper.

Gein was a weirdo with mommy issues and only two confirmed kills. He's more notorious for his skin furniture than his killings. He only got the pop culture boost thanks to psycho/Texas chainsaw. Gacey, Bundy and Dahmer are all infinitely more interesting.

Can anyone itt recommend a good Bundy biography?

He asked about a culturally significant killer, which Gein definitely was. Gacy was a nobody.

>two people
>serial killer

Pick one you fucking retard

From the FBI site:

"The different discussion groups at the Symposium agreed on a number of similar factors to be included in a definition. These included:

• one or more offenders
• two or more murdered victims
• incidents should be occurring in separate events, at different times
• the time period between murders separates serial murder from mass murder

In combining the various ideas put forth at the Symposium, the following definition was crafted:

Serial Murder: The unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events"

Just kill yourself before I have to do it user.
:^)

The two were only the confirmed ones, he probably killed around 6 or 8 people.

>FBI
>relevant
>Amerifat opinions
>relevant

Maybe you should read your own bullshit source you fatfuck

>However, since the definition was to be utilized by law enforcement, a lower number of victims would allow law enforcement more flexibility in committing resources to a potential serial murder investigation.

They weren't interested in a scientifically precise definition (which is what academics requested).

Go choke on a cheeseburger you subhuman. Fat fucking whale piece of greasy shit.

>American federal police agency is not relevant to American serial killers

Back to /int/ 3rd worlder

>Scientifically precise
>Human social behavior that is merely subjectively defined
Are you fucking retarded?

Are you seriously fucking retarded?

So if I decide to kill two and get caught then clearly I am no a serial killer despite the evidence otherwise, because genius user thinks he has control of such labels.
How about you just fuck off.

Imagine during the Thirty Years War or something. Christ.

cause of the cia and satanists

if this is something that intresst you then should probably read this

fringechan.org/library/src/1456411474807-1.pdf

fair warning tho you aint ever going to look at the world the same way once you are done with this book, and the first "chapter" (first half) is more of a mood setter and to give some perspective of the world we live in after that it dives into the why of the serial killer

Also
>Read your own bullshit source
You mean the FBI site? Yeah I'd guess it's bullshit and wikipedia is a WAY better source.

Just fucking off yourself.

>So if I decide to kill two and get caught then clearly I am no a serial killer

Yes you fucking retard. This is not a hard concept to grasp.

What your glorified police defines it as for THEIR investigative purposes does not fucking matter in regards to how the word is actually fucking used.

>lol u quote wikipeedia xD

Again, choke on a cheeseburger you fat fucking greasy ameriturd fatfuck piece of shit.

Oh and if you want to get more mad, other sources and even more relevant sources state it at 4 or even higher

If you wanna see just how much of a cunt you are: there is no consensus, there is no scientific definition.
The broader two person idea is superior if only in the sense that it allows you to further define the serial killer through behavior and not just a stupid thing like amount of victims.

Fuck you, arrogant dipshit sourcing fucking wikipedia. At least go to google scholar you intelecually bankrupt piece of shit.

>Why do 76% of serial killers come from America?

they don't.

We just happen to catch more of them than the rest of the world.

Tired of this loaded question shit.

>How come [insert a completely bullshit claim]?
>retards in the thread answer without fact checking

There were no more serial killers in the 80s than any other period and most serial killers do not come from America, you're jest spouting media memes. Better question would be why were serial killers so POPULAR in the 80s.

...

What fucking practical difference is there from two to three?
What because you read it on the wiki it must be true? Sod off mate.

>Britannica definition
serial murder, also called serial killing, the unlawful homicide of at least two people, carried out in a series over a period of time. Although this definition was established in the United States, it has been largely accepted in Europe and elsewhere, but the crime is not formally recognized in any legal code, including that of the United States. Serial murder is distinguished from mass murder, in which several victims are murdered at the same time and place.

Written by a history professor.
Think you're smarter than him with your shitty sources?
Think your subjective is better hmmm?
Argue it's fucking merits then.

Because it's:
a) not scientifically defined
b) defined differently according to the source
c) at least I fucking gave practical merits to using the two-person def.

Suck a dick, lad.

Addendum:
I am not fucking american.

They should ban idiotic high-school cunts like you from posting in this shithole. Oh right, half the posters are underage mouth breathers so it'd basically kill the site. What a shame!

Not even that, see and Luis Gavarito, Pedro Lopez, Daniel Camargo, Thug Behram, Abul Djabar, Anatoly Onoprienko or Alexander Pichushkin all kind more people than Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer, yet barely anyone knows them while Bundy is basically a serial killer superstar.

I've heard of this book. I was considering buying it off Amazon but I never got around to it.

>Manson

but he never killed anybody.

Hitler didn't cool any Jews. He just orchestrated their genocide.

Anyone here interested in serial killers who haven't been caught yet? To name a few: Original Night Stalker, Zodiac Killer, Freeway Phantom.

its summer thats doing this

Why are boomers so obsessed with truecrime?

>Veeky Forums
>anyone over 30

>anyone over 20

I wasn't talking about Veeky Forums

Oh, so you were just being inane and pompous for no reason?

There is some correlation between the number of serial killers and having english as a mother tongue.

"Married with children"

Probably carried over from the crime waves of the 80s/90s and its subsequent influence on entertainment.

This would make a good thread me thinks.

>implying there aren't a shitload more serial killers in China, India and Russia but because the police are shitty they go unnoticed

It's easier for a serial killer to hide in the US. Lower population density+higher pop.

Tired of hearing about him. Gacy, Manson, Dahmer - all talked about too much.

Actually the Chinese & Russians do have similar serial killer sprees.

But only Americans and Japs turn them into rockstars.

There can only be one, user.

Anyone else here find female series killers fasciating? I think nanie doss maybe one of the most chilling series killers out there.

Russia has always had much better criminal investigators than the US, the one thing Russians actually do good along with espionage.

one of the very worst

nowadays people just shoot up schools, much more effective.

Except that's not true at all. The soviets believed serial killers were a capitalistic/American phenomenon that's why their big famous one got away for so long. An American showed up and helped track him down real quick as the killings had an obvious pattern

yep

2spooky4me

GI's returning from 'nam after being 'trained' in murder and torture of civilians maybe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Program

That's easy
Americas crime rates were rising year by year, urban decay was accelerating at a pace never before seen and national apathy was huge as a million different movements were happening
Feminists growth, black power, la raza, the mafia, communists
All were thought to be the ultimate enemies contained inside drug filled crime filled urban streets

White suburban and small town males commuting gruesome acts was a subversion of common sense at the time
They didn't follow a movement they destroyed because their minds were destructive
