why do all modpacks run like shit on my pc? i have 8gb ram, 280x, and an i5 4460. even when i have above 60fps, its still insanely fucking stuttery

modders can't code.
and neither can mojang.
and notch just bumbled his way through it, and out of all of them, did the best.

also don't use 200+ mods.

I decided to try ICYTOO Paul Dano version.

I have never used IC, ever, in all the years its been alive for the same reason I didnt like buildcraft at first. Basically NEI didnt exist and I couldnt deal.
But more recently in the past few years where NEI exists and stuff, I still didnt use it due to RF being non-bullshit shenanigans, and I dont like other power systems.

Anyway, I tried it. Placed down a machine and threw power at it with a converter.
It exploded, spooking my guts off.
I got the weakest cable and tried again. It worked but was pretty fuckin' slow.
Upgrades and stuff added, tried a new cable to stop it from shitting itself only to explode again, spooking my guts off.

Oh well, nothing gained or lost. I really just wanted to use the NUCLEAR stuff, since Big Reactors is babby mode, and the Science one from back in the day is Ded.

Next run Im probably going to try Magenticraft and Nuclearcraft or whatever it's called.
Maybe when hell freezes over Ill try Reikafurshit's mod

are you using a texture pack or shader pack? stop using them if you are, see how that works.
depending on your monitor, having a higher (60+) framerate is not really any benefit. turn on Vsync. it might save some performance and your hardware a little bit.
lastly, what packs are you using? some, like Infinity Evolved, have a lot of shitty bloat that you can take out.

something blue might be alright. try whatever's on the left that kinda has the blue smooth metal/stone look to it. if that doesn't work try the one on the right, but its pretty flat so it might throw off the feeling of the build.

how about hay bales? their upper texture should be fine for a barn floor

i can't stand v-sync. i hate input lag. also my system is barely even being used. (low cpu/gpu usage)

i've tried:
Agrarian Skies, Agrarian Skies 2, Ultimate Questpack, IE:S, and IE.
vanilla minecraft with optifine runs 200+ fps and actually feels smooth. these modpacks run at around 60-100 fps average and they have micro stutters to the point where it doesnt even feel like 60fps

ram HAS to be set to about 4gb. Over that causes problems. This is the biggest and most important one.
turn on garbage collection.
make sure permgen cache or whatever is 256.
find some optimized java arguments from somewhere.

but i only want to disable endermens picking up blocks, not creeper explosions. and we've reached the limit of /gamerules already

garbage collection helps a lot with fps, unless your hitting peak ram, at which point it causes stutters.

Go 1.7 and stay there. There's no benefit in crossing over to 1.8, and much of Forge is worse at that point.
