What is this? A text based h-game?

In short it is a textbased SLG, as in conquer lands and take their touhous for yourself.

It has an indepth character creator, with some proper SLG mechanics to back it up. There's also quite the system for handling sex and plenty of events too.

What's the state of VH? Anything new over the past year? Is it at least not buggy?

there has been some new stuff but it's still kind of buggy but at least not in game breakable way anymore.
I kind of wish they would bring back the original time system by default.

So what Scenarios have been translated/worked on?

How I did it;
- Interact with Skeleton, note says "follow red flower"
- Save and try each direction
- To reach crystal must keep going into rooms with 2 flowers, don't worry you can back track

It's a partial, limited to no story stuff have been translated. I recommend you try out scenario 11 for a map of europe with cities that use the english alphabet.

If that's the case then you may dislike sangeki of gear, the same thing happens, but instead of being captive you're free to do whatever you want after that happens Overall, sangeki is the better game,and it even has better art, i still have to find a game that looks like that, the generic animu grill style isn't doing it for me anymore.

Also it can get kinda grindy, but i find it pretty fun, maybe because i love old school Jrpgs.

The features mentioned actually don't apply to a roguelike.
Okay, ASCII graphics can be called textbased, but that's not what was meant here.
Calling a roguelike a simulation game is quite a huge stretch, as most roguelikes are dungeon crawlers.
A roguelike will also generally not feature charactor creators, much less in depth ones.
And the features that make a roguelike? Procedural generation and permadeath are the two staple features. Neither of them are mentioned.
So sure, you can call this a roguelike, but only if you ignore everything a roguelike is and is not.
