Imo if it's between those two get katana and use a camo that you like. Katana camos are actually fairly nice compared to most weapons. Though personally I would get neither and get a different weapon, since both are fairly good and the upgrade to austere isn't super worth it for either.

Tagami is absolutely not a worthwhile upgrade from ares.

Tagami is 2nd best katana after austere, pot is good.

The pot is fairly bad, actually. Compared to ares anyways. I'd much rather prefer the 2% or so weaker ares compared to the katana that doesn't work on the first two hits and won't work once gear drains your gauge enough.

Katana Gear always counts as 3 while it's active.

It's pretty much just psycho wand and yozakura. Although ray might not since it has a similar potential to those two

It will still be 60. Ele changers only change the element, they don't to anything to the number.

The only one I can think off the top of my head is psychowand photon booster potential, I think the reason was that since compounds are "free" they're not affected by it. I'd assume all potentials affecting PP AND damage won't work.

Did you never notice the damage dropoff in katana gear mode if the gear bar drops down from 3 (this is ignoring the tagami latent and talking in general)?

I'm the dude who said that Tagami won't work in gear mode (and I might be wrong, I haven't actually checked), but it definitely counts as gear 3 for the 10% damage boost.

No, actually, you won't. If you think you've observed it, it's just normal damage variance. Activated gear at 3 bars has the same critical as activated gear at 1 bar.

Well, with Shekel Gems now being the "top reward" where you get like fucking 5 of them for completing the bingo, you can now just totally ignore the last couple things.

Maybe that's why compund doesn't work.

Problem is that there are potentials that say that they only activate on fire/ice/lighting/etc potentials, and they work with compounds. It's something about pa/tech and pp reduction that fucks things up.

I just went and tested, Tagami pot actually disappears when the gauge drops below 2. This seems more like a bug/oversight though, since it always counts as 3 for everything else (the 10% bonus and counter).

I've read somewhere that using rod with that latents, such as Nepto Rod only boost damage of Ice atribute of Barantsion while things like Austere Rod which boost overall damage increase both ice and light atribute damage of Barantsion

Accoding to swiki, those pots and the masteries apply to all damage. Things related to weak element as well as element conversion only apply according to the element of the hit (for instance, fomelgion beam is fire, while the explosions are dark)
