Yes, but it just means it isn't shit like it used to be. You're not actively cultivating strength over dex for better killdudes, because you can almost always achieve adequate killdudes no matter what your strength is. The same cannot be said for EV and dex.

You always activated fan as a panic button, which is basically what it does now except better. Lamp was always in corridors or areas where you needed to block some area off so you could run. Literally no one used stone. Phial did a lot of damage, and I feel like this isn't the first time its damage has been adjusted. The elementals were meaningless, except if you got a really early evoker.

PCB's new randarts are horrendous, so randarts only is completely going to suck and not be viable anymore.
Cloning is not a thing anymore so no easy leveling off caaws and no conga.
I guess the only way to play remains the good old android rune knight. Just go around cities before even entering orc buying pieces of armor, trying to find a rod of clarity and level 32, then selling every piece of body armor you just slapped [stability] on, then gambling bulk scrolls for acquirement and reading them in Olympus.
Or you know.
You could just slog through 35+ like a bunch of primitive apes, exactly like we did before we discovered the conga and 555.
I don't get why this is the "only way to play". Plenty of people have fun without any of the scumming you mentioned.
If you were actually good at the game it probably wouldn't be such a slog.
