All the people coming up with tier lists and saying that 2x Winston and 2x Mecree are the go to pro strategy are short sighted. The game has yet to develop a pro meta, we're only looking at first level strategies right now.

Wait until good players, given time to practice a variety of champs and team compositions, start building strategies. I think your going to see some very dynamic teams and a lot of the 'shit tier' characters will become viable in the right hands.

They have a score derived from your stats, but the leaderboards are based on total score so it's just as much if not more about how much you play as how well you play.
