Fucking finally had to chase 4 different VC armies across the map with too few witch hunters.

New to TW and kinda shitty at the moment here. Have two questions.

When is a good time to get a second lord? Ruined my first VC play through by getting one to early and ruining my econemy. Then on my first Chaos I got one to late and other armies multi stacks just went and steam rolled me.

Also about to do a Greenskin campaign. Am I better off just taking two or three provinces then just plain subjugating all other tribes? Or just go around accupying everything I can and razing everything I cant?

Orcs don't really need a buff apart from their Orc cav (Gobbo Cav is fine) and maybe Trolls. They are perfectly fun to play, especially with the WAAGH mechanic.

VC are the most needing of buffs, followed by some of the Dwarf late game specialist units (Slayers, Organ Guns, Brimstone Gyros/Bombers, maybe Hammerers). Gunpowder missle units also feel pretty underwhelming due to their range.

If you are really struggling with Orcs, you must be just playing them incorrectly as they have a ton of strong options to deal with most races.

Greenskins need some more armor-piercing options, but that's it. Trolls with their acid attacks, maybe?

Honestly gunpowder units would be fine if they had their arc of fire increased. Right now they have to reposition too much since they can't just fire over units like archers/crossbows. Unfortunately every modder thinks ranged units should be completely useless for some reason since all they do is nerf them.

Orcs need all their units redone so there is actual point for them. You have an entire Goblin and Savage tree they are both utterly worthless the moment the other factions start bringing the slightest bit of armor.

It has nothing to do with playing them well or not, anyone can win a campaign with them on any difficulty, the fact is that they are still the most UP faction by far.

Orcs need one or two archer units upgraded with armor piercing.

Its stupid being helpless in early game against dwarfs unless you heavily outnumber them or abuse autoresolve.

Why is every chaos army full of missile cav and dogs? Are they just a copy paste of Attila?

In my experience it's actually better to get a late second lord because they're so momentum-based. You can survive multistack swarms by investing points into the bottom skill tree (which you want to do anyway to max that horde growth perk) and getting that one perk called Lightning Strike. I never invest more than one point into it, but it allows you to fight a battle without reinforcements joining on either side, so you can strategically pick the deathstacks apart.

As for VC and every other faction that can actually settle towns, just do it as your economy allows. You'll figure it out through trial and error, just stick with it.

What pisses me off the most is how little the orcs actually play like the orc faction in the tabletop, or even from the lores perspective.

Not once have I ever felt like I was overwhelming the enemy with my massive numbers, they put so much reliance on the Waaagh effect they didnt bother to give orcs more units on average than other factions.

I'm playing VC atm and got mine pretty early, although I only run him with some basic skellies, a couple of bats and hounds. I use him for smaller tasks to level him up so I've got the levels when he's needed for real

Slayers are a right letdown. Took me ages to get to them then they just get slaughtered by "Bigunz" which I thought they would counter.

When you tunnel near an enemy, they get to intercept and rape you

They counter trolls or bigger. 1v1 with normal units is worthless.

If they pass through your zone of engagment you get the chance to attack. The army using the underway is completely wiped out if they lose.

They are just too specialised. They do a reasonable job versus large (but still tend to get heavy casulties/wiped out in the process) but are useless versus anything else.

Meanwhile Empire has halberdiers that do the same job, can hold the line just fine and are easily replacable.

Are there any mods aside from Radious that give Orcs some basic armor piercing options? It makes the early game frustrating as Orcs since they're so helpless against Dwarves.

That said it does make dwarves rather fun when fighting Orc multi-stacks as the greenskins do jackshit against your armored everything.

Big uns are literally stock line infantry units, a step up from basic boyz and a step below Black Orcs.

The orc units Slayers can kill are Trolls/Giant Spiders and Giants. Anything that actually says 'large' or 'monster'

"Large" is a unit category.

It refers to cav and monsters, basically.

Makes more sense with Empire spearmen and halberdiers, because they make a pretty instinctive counter for cav and monsters.

Slayers have the same goddamn axes as every other dwarf. Making them anti-cav just seems strange to me.

if you're asking about the tribes like the Varg or Skaeling it's because the AI has a really poor build order as tribes. Most of the time they go for marauders and skip the chaos warriors chain and try to go straight for trolls in most cases when trolls are pretty garbage.

The actual event-based forces of chaos faction (Sarthorael, Archaon) is a little more threatening just because they're forced to spawn with actually threatening units like Chosen and Giants.

This is gonna be an interesting Chaos campaign. I wonder if I have to even do anything other than watch.

I hate how I have to wait a turn for my Waagh army to do anything in concert with the main.

My campaign so far is playing pop the weasel with rebels while moving armies back and forth trying to take dwarf towns.

You get the army when you feel you can afford it.
And no you dont subjugate anybody you occupy their shit, its lots of shekel.

Dwarfs are the worst faction in the game.

Infantry is hard countered by empire greatswords, savage orcs, chaos with great weapons and grave guard.

Their range is no better than empire.

They have no mobility whatsoever.

Gyrocoptors cant even kill a single unit.

Too expensive, and all late game units are hard to get and not as good as other factions.

Why would anyone play dwarfs, they are shit.

What units should I take into consideration with greenskins apart from Boyz > Big 'uns > Black orcs and Arachnoks? Like, what cavalry should I be aiming for, and what ranged?

Abuse them, the AI almost always intercept even if they have 5 units versus 20, it's stupid and they always get wiped out

All the infantry i mentioned will beat them with ease.

All it takes is a flank to take out their ranged units, and they have nothing. If you have flying units then its GG dwarfs.

All the orc cav are shit, so ignore them. Take some giants, and maybe 2 units of night goblin archers for their posion debuff. Every other unit should be Black orcs/Big Uns as well as a doom diver or two

Abusing the AI hardy means much when they are all skeletons and low teir shit.

I beat 4000 units with 700 chaos and lost minimal men, Using the top unit tends to win any engagement.

You can stick a unit of Oathsworn against a banner of eastern spearmen and they will beat them.

Stat wise, their core units are fine. Good stats all round and they rarely rout. Quarrelers are borderline OP.

They just get ruined by good cav/flying units as they have no good answers for it and their playstyle is very linear so it's easy to counter them if you have the right units.

If their specialist, late game stuff gets boosted to help them out with their weaknesses, they would be a lot more effective.

Giving Slayers charge defense vs large and boosting Gyro damage and anti-air capabilies would be a good start. Making Trollhammers good vs air would be pretty useful too.

The way GW is going down the shitter someone will buy them in the next 5 years.

they dont have chaos warriors building at all user, only the actual warriors of chaos faction can get them

I'm taking 10:1 bets the free faction they're talking about releasing is Bretonnia which I have mixed feelings about but whatever. It'll be nice to actually have a reason to go west of the Reiksland or south of Wissenland on the campaign map.

Slayers are so bad, i charged them head on with reiksgaurd and they lost.

The units in general dont excel at anything, and are easily countered by every faction they have no options. That is why they are the worst.

Every other faction has an answer to dwarfs, but the dwarfs cant do much against an anti infantry and cav heavy army.

Magic is good. Just direct damage vs multiple unit is shit. Single target spells like accuse and other stuff is still OP as fuck. AOE debuffs are also OP as fuck.

The fact is Empire/Chaos/VC and Dwarfs are fairly well balanced, considering the introduction of monsters and large units, and the majority of their unit rosters make sense.

Only orcs pulled the short straw, and I suspect its because they didnt bother to increase the unit sizes for them enough because of performance concerns. Once a mod increases it they will be fine.
