Pretty much. Even with a wife and family, money can buy a lot of opportunities. Women can smell money. You can easily emulate that by just dressing nicely. Wearing khakis and a button down shirt goes a long way. Got a suit you wore to a funeral one time? Even better. Wear it to the bar and go for the "just got off work" look. The saying "Women love a man in uniform" has a lot more to do with money than anything. I figure it works on a subconscious level they don't even notice.

These are my tips to you guys. When I dress comfortably, I don't get nearly as much attention.

Computer repair warranty work. They set up in big warehouses. People tend to stay off your back. I repaired laptops for Toshiba for a few years while finishing college. It was normal to go several days without talking to anyone. All the communication needed was in Oracle as long as you did your job adaquately.

If you don't want to deal with a shit job every day, probably some form of software development. You can probably get a junior position if you do the following:

1) Dedicate a few months (at least 8 hours a day) taking online courses at coursera.org/ and learning as much as you can.

2) Build a github profile with some interesting projects you do on the side. This step is crucial as your github profile serves as the crux of your resume. You can get a good job with a solid github profile even if you don't have a degree.

Regardless of whether or not you take this advice, good luck user.

They usually stay late, and and are taking calls/emails here and there (basically being on-call) until after dark - long after they've left the office. That is the new expectation of companies.
