Noob is an understatement. Anyway, the only important thing to consider is the skill name. Sometimes the exact same skill can have a different name on two character, then the books don't work. Sometimes, characters have the same skill with the same name, then you can feed either one or their skillbooks to anyone with the same skill name. Characters keep their skill level after evolution, if the skill keeps the same name.
