Name one thing that's ever went to shit and managed to recover from it Media, countries, websites, anything
Besides the comics, obviously
Oliver Wood
Yoshi.
Bentley Jenkins
China. Went from rock bottom to one of the most successful countries on the planet. In fact, all of Southeast Asia really >Besides the comics, obviously You can't go to shit if you were always shit
Gavin Gonzalez
I would rather go back to talking about why sonic porn artists are shit than that garbage the last thread ended on.
Isaiah Scott
I think a lot of ideas that were used in the Penders era was very very good. Including the Romance stuff. Although I also feel that he lost his luster when he started actively sabotaging other writers and was being an egotist.
I kinda miss the wild free range the comic had before the mandates.
Benjamin Jenkins
Fine, why are all Sonic porn artists so shit? Are there any we didn't cover last thread?
Jonathan Rodriguez
>I think a lot of ideas that were used in the Penders era was very very good. Including the Romance stuff. Although I also feel that he lost his luster when he started actively sabotaging other writers and was being an egotist. That's because half of his ideas were ripped from better media. And even then, a lot of the romance stuff you probably liked wasn't him. It was Bollers
Ryder White
The potential that Penders' ideas had were what interested Flynn the most, if I recall. It was his implementation that squandered it all, as you said.
Thomas Perry
90s comics in general had a lot of shit in them that were charming but not necessarily executed well. The idea of the Egg Grapes is a fine idea that was cheesy enough to be something Eggman would actually make while being one of his most diabolical and devastating creations. However, I cannot agree that the romance was an aspect that was good. If anything romance should only be present in passing at the very most. Also
Owen Moore
Not either of those anons but the only romance I would like in the comics is Antoine and Bunnie having cute moments together since they're married and all. That's about it. If any other married couples get introduced then I guess they can have cute moments too.
Nathaniel Phillips
Even those should still be in passing and they have been so far.
Jaxon Lee
I'm fine with Bunnie and Antoine because they never had any fucking stupid love triangle bullshit or forced drama (Outside of the bullshit with Patch) like Sonic and Sally did. Also this. And the few moments we've gotten are cute as fuck
Michael Williams
I appreciate the feedback. I understand that having limits can be helpful, but I miss when the comic would do anything to catch the reader. Personifications of concepts like Vertical & Horizontal? Humans AND not-quite humans? Fucking Aliens out of nowhere that ended up being the origin of life as it was? Crossovers with Maxx AND Sabrina?
My All-Time favorite wacky thing the Sonic Comic did was Moses teaming up with Robin Hood. Shit was cash to me.
Henry Cook
I kind of miss that too, but I like it and hate it for the same reason. It didn't feel like it belonged in a Sonic comic. Granted, that was half the fun of it, because you would never expect this kind of shit in a Sonic comic and it made the world feel a bit more trippy and unique, but it also added some really dumb shit >Personifications of concepts like Vertical & Horizontal? That also turned into giant killer robots
Colton Ramirez
I recently came across someplace that was complaining about Austin's inks ruining pencil work quite some time ago. The fact it continues to this day proves Archie's not gotten any better about its staffing choices and that we have such good artists on the book now is more luck than anything.
John Turner
They're not wrong. For comparison here are Evan's original pencils for
Adrian Mitchell
I'm not an art person. What exactly am I supposed to be seeing that's "wrong" about the colored version?
Connor Sanchez
His inks tend to remove the smoothness from a lot of smaller lines. So the end product comes out a little more jaggy than before it got inked. I personally think all pencilers should ink their own pencils so at least if they fuck it up they ruined their own drawing.
Eli Peterson
Holy fuck, that last thread. What did you niggas do?
Michael Gomez
This is the kind of thing I would love to see Evan or ABT chime in on.

>I personally think all pencilers should ink their own pencils so at least if they fuck it up they ruined their own drawing. This is something only a casual observer would say.
Inking is an entirely different skillset than pencilling and can be extremely difficult, especially when done by hand. It's not just about choosing which pencil lines are important, but also dictating line thickness, fixing errors, determining how much of the shading is left to the colorist, creating art that will actually be readable in color, etc.
It's fucking hard. You want to see how hard, check TSI's poor attempt at re-inking an Endangered Species cover over at the Archie Online forums. Austin was one of the greats, and part of his problem isn't as much that he's not trying as his inking style being suited for the angular, striking style of 80's Marvel rather than the thin, soft curves of modern Architecture Sonic.
Ian Sanders
Sonic is too slow.
Ian Walker
>This is something only a casual observer would say. Nice high horse. I understand what all goes into inking but no one knows how to follow an artist's lines like the artist that drew them. Part of me thinking that a penciler should ink their own drawings is implying that they know how to ink properly.
Henry Kelly
>Nice high horse. I'm just going from experience. It's not the kind of thing most drawfag's would say.
I can't imagine most actual pencil artists wanting to ink by hand; I have a hard enough time inking digitally.
Brandon Hill
Me either. It's a personal ideal that I think would only work in certain cases but work well in those cases. It would also depend on the pecilers.
Juan Miller
Inking is hard as hell, and if I pencilled for Archie, I know for a fact I wouldn't want to ink my own work.
Alexander Gutierrez
Well now we're just changing the whole statement. Of course it works well for some people, you've got people who exclusively ink their pencils. The idea that--in a "perfect world" where all pencillers are great at inks--all pencillers should ink their own work is so dismissive towards professional inkers and sounds like a misunderstanding of the entire process. It dismisses inking as if it isn't just as integral as coloring for a finalized, colored page. If we're talking about that kind of ideal, why JUST the inker? Why isn't this person also the writer and colorist and letterer and editor so their vision isn't compromised? It's an inherently belittling statement.

You have a decent understanding of perspective, but it's trying too hard to be erotic and is just kinda gross.

Didn't draw it myself, but a friend did. I just wanted to see more Bump/user shenanigans.

Will do. He's more used to doing porn and like you said, it shows through. Thanks for the feedback all the same.

How would Sonic react to not being the fastest?
Is there anyone who is actually faster than Sonic?
Jonathan Diaz
>How would Sonic react to not being the fastest? Considering he got pissed at Jet for even insinuating that shit, I'd say pissed beyond belief. Metal Sonic could briefly move faster than him in CD, but it overloaded his systems, so Sonic can go the fastest for the longest period of time
Gabriel Murphy
Plus it's all natural, while shitters like the Flash cheat by using the speed force.
Bentley Ward
Just leaving this here, found it on /v/ about maybe a week ago.
Asher Roberts
>tfw want to see it >tfw at work
Blake Reed
But I thought Sonic's whole deal was being "the fastest thing alive" I wouldn't think he'd care too much about machines being faster than him, otherwise he'd probably be incredibly insecure over the existence of hypersonic aircraft And any and all spacecraft, for that matter
Jonathan Lewis
>I wouldn't think he'd care too much about machines being faster than him, otherwise he'd probably be incredibly insecure over the existence of hypersonic aircraft He wants to be the fastest PERIOD. I don't think he'd mind if spacecraft or planes went faster, but for something like Metal Sonic, he'd certainly mind
Easton Gonzalez
I think he'd take some issue with Metal, since he is a metal robot version of him. I figure he'd want to be faster than him rather than just an aircraft.
Jack Adams
Well, you also have to consider Super Sonic. Super Sonic probably is much faster then anything we've seen in Sonic's World.
Dylan Rodriguez
Came back and didn't expect someone to get so triggered over this. >why JUST the inker You want to know the similarity between penciling and inking? They both involve the linework. You want to know what penciling and coloring don't have in common? The fucking linework. Have an actual counterpoint to what I think instead of pulling something out of a hat to use. The only belittling statement here is yours for assuming I'm looking at this negatively when the only person that has said Austin doesn't fit is you.
Ryan Nguyen
I think Sonic would care about robots/AI. Maybe not so much aircraft or totally mindless machines, but I think Sonic would probably want to be faster than Metal, Silver Sonic, Shard, random badnik, etc. even if they aren't "alive"
Hell, I'd see him thinking of it as sort of a challenge that Eggman built his own Sonic to match him speedwise. I mean, he just straight up races Metal in CD rather than traditionally fight him.
Joshua Cruz
amy a cute
Oliver James
Downright fucking beautiful. Can we get some more quality edits in here? This bait- v shit-post business put a bad taste in my mouth.

>You want to know the similarity between penciling and inking? They both involve the linework. You want to know what penciling and coloring don't have in common? The fucking linework. Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds?
I'm saying this again because there is no other reasonable alternative: this HAS to be the opinion of a casual observer. Nobody who has ever inked or colored a piece or art would be this ignorant.
To put this in perspective, we have to remember you're proposing an ideal world where all pencillers do their own inks. You're suggesting that since the inks take the place of the pencils on the final page, the lack of an inker would stop pencils from getting fucked over.
The problem is every other member of the team is just as important. Colors can convey tone, setting, mood, relationships and even levels of action. A bad lettering job can cover up important parts of illustrations and break flow and ruin the reading experience. A bad editor can fuck with the art, add bad effects to the colors, tamper with the script. Shit pencils can be a waste on good inkers and colorists and completely fuck the writer over, and a bad writer can be so vague that it screws the work from the start.
There's nothing wrong with saying "I hate X's inks, the pencillers should do it instead" because that's a judgement on the relative skills of several artists. Suggesting that pencillers should just do their own inks universally is just a ludicrous misunderstanding of how comics work on the level of moronic comments like "Ian shouldn't have to listen to an editor" and "Why do they need a separate person to write the words?"
Keep at it with pointless jargon like how "triggered" I am, though. You're nearly as bad as that moron who thought there was only one definition for tone in writing.
Gabriel Hughes
Couldn't stop at the ears and leotard. Had to add the bitchlips and fingernails.
Owen Thompson
I kinda think one or the other would've been okay tho
Blake Baker
>we have to remember you're proposing an ideal world where all pencillers do their own inks More like where pencillers that can ink do so to their own work. Might want to work on your memory and/or reading skills. >still going on about all that shit that has nothing to do with pencils and inks Either keep focused or fuck off. I'm not going to keep arguing my point if you're going to go off on tangents related to things other than PENCILS and INKS. >is just a ludicrous misunderstanding of how comics work on the level of moronic comments like "Ian shouldn't have to listen to an editor" and "Why do they need a separate person to write the words?" No, it's not and even if your false equivalence comparison was correct, it would not apply to me because I never said that. >calls me a moron >can't read, focus, or even remember correctly k
Joshua Wright
Anyone got any hot artist dramaâ„¢ they wanna talk about?
Christian Cooper
You're favorite artist a shit.
Tyler Parker
Jokes on you, I have no favorite artists.
Levi Reed
there isn't a version without those or I would have posted it. maybe we could ask our friendly neighbourhood drawfags to correct it?
