Job hate thread

Anyone else here wake up every day and fucking hate their job, but you gotta do it?

>work at rite aid
>cashier but sometimes have to do other shit too
>manager tells me that im going to have to clean the bathroom
>walk in
>looks like someone didn't even attempt to aim their asshole at the toilet seat, shit is EVERYWHERE. all over the toilet seat, the back of the toilet (it's one of those handicapped ones), the floor, and the walls.
>at this point i get the fuck out of the bathroom
>tell my manager we are going to need a professional cleaning company
>the stupid bitch gets all hissy with me and tells me to do it or im fired
>end up spending my Saturday night cleaning up shit on a rite aid bathroom floor
>contemplate life goals

I think the toilet got visited by r9k
OP if your contract says cashier do only that
What life goals did you contemplate?

Minimum effort gets you minimum wage, cucklord. Lord knows i hope you dont have kids. Are you going to expect to get 15 dollars an hour to change your wife's son's diaper? Anyways if youre so disappointed with you job then either find another one or go learn a profitable skill instead of bitching about it on Veeky Forums.

Rite Aid? I feel sorry for you.

>Be Eckerd store manager, Y2K+1
>Be hearing stories about buyout by some French-Canadian chain
>Decide noep, I'm done, this job already sucks enough as it is
>Quit, take self, become officer in USAF right before 9/11
>FML
>Keep up with friends who still work for Eckerd
>Frenchie company running company into ground
>Can't keep stores stocked, pay sucks worse than JCP era Eckerd, benefits suck worse than JCP era Eckerd
>Gets bought out by Rite Aid
>Somehow sucks even harder
>Now don't feel so bad about spending 3 out of 7 years in Afghanistan
>MFW come back to "my" old store and get shown what it's like now by my old AM (now a DM.)

I used to work as a janitor and I really, really, miss it. I'm currently working in a severely understaffed IT department in a hospital and I hate myself and my life.

If you feel like quitting and want pay back on your manager, I'd be willing to recreate the shit storm in that bathroom for a price.

That's cool. I work at CVS.

>Work in a callcenter with only inbond calls.
>get really skilled at my job, can answer everything without looking it up
>watch youtube and daytrade during workhours
>boss knows this and loves me because i'm relatively effective

Sorry just realized this was a job hate thread
I love my job

Me too as a manager

Oh, and I just re-read your comment.

>the stupid bitch gets all hissy with me and tells me to do it or im fired

That's an OSHA violation. Should have let them fire you, and taken in that sweet, sweet wrongful termination money.

>have a master's degree in engineering
>working at McDonald's for $9/hr
>former classmate of mine in HS walks in
>shocked he sees me working there
>he tells me he founded a landscaping business
>is successful
>total is $16.30
>gives me a $10 bill
>says it's not enough
>shift manager comes by and says, "this is fine"
>receive paycheck
>$6.30 gets deducted

Fucking kek. Are you the guy trying to sell his shit? Because A for effort if you are.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA What a cocksucker! I bet you like to salt your carrot when you jack off huh? Prefer a dry rub?

Cool story, bro.

Might I suggest: Broke Ass Brigade?

Its a book about a nobody minimum wage worker who has to deal with all the shit you describe.

> Work retail in europe
> Union gets us significantly above minimum wage
> Pension, benefits, share options
> Flexible schedule, but full-time hours because management likes me
> Don't work weekends because I don't want to
> New pay deal comes down; I no longer have an overtime rate, but get significantly more per hour
> My contracted hours max out at full-time hours, so the ends result is that I just get paid more for the same work
> Work in the back, away from customers
> Banter, get to play music, management team respects me and asks for my input on things

For working-class shit, my job is fucking cushy.

>Are you the guy trying to sell his shit?
Was I that transparent?
OP seemed like he needed my services.

This looks interesting, is it worth the read?

Can I have my friend pick up my adderall prescription for me?

>work at a med staffing firm
>basically a sales job
>they clamor on and on about the boundless opportunities all because of 3 people who generated 6 figures
>Just another generic sales job

I fucking hate sales, but because I'm good at oratory it's something I'm rather effective at. Went to school for finance, but not a good school so places don't take me seriously as a candidate. Teaching myself Java and trying to prep for the series 7 to get the fuck out of sales.
Would rather be a chef or do movie production

This

EMT

god i hate this job, it's so teeth grittingly stressful and/or annoying at times, I'm burnt out, I do bitch work and make 9.50 an hour, time for a new gig.

SHIT

While you deliver people, I deliver pizzas & make $13/hr

Fuck the propaganda about the honour in working. I hate my wagie job.

I am a retail cuck. I hate seeing Chad and Stacey couples or teenagers on Friday / Saturday nights.

I got paid $44.92/hr today for 6 hours of waiting for the line to run properly (it didn't) 10 hour days all week, 8 on Saturday and another 6 on Sunday.

Yay! FML

I thought EMT got paid more though?

Hell I was even thinking of getting my license too, $9.5? Is minimum wage $5.5 in your state/country?

>not paid 1.5x for overtime
what the hell, that's legal?

That sucks, I'm making $13.10 as an EMT and every two weeks when I get my paycheck there's that moment when I ask myself why I even bother.

Other than the pay I really like it though, it's definitely the best job I've ever done and I've worked a whole lot of jobs.
-every day is different from the one before it
-get to help people (sometimes the people I help are even nice!)
-out on the road all day so no bullshit office politics
-95% of my calls have no interaction from a supervisor so nobody breathes down your neck
-flexible schedule and there's always overtime
If the pay weren't so shit it'd be the perfect job for me, that's why I'm going to medic school, once I promote I'll be making twice the pay and my agency gave me a $5k grant (tuition is 6k) for it.

>work at a toxic waste transfer station
>around chemicals all day
>breathing in random petrochemicals that don't even have names ex: HWI-087 fracking lubricant
>building is hot as fuck in the summer cold as fuck in the winter
>no proper ventilation or HVAC system
>company is broke as fuck due to the oil crash, no raises or anything
>everything is dusty, dirty, or covered in oil and grease
>smells like shit constantly from nearby farmers fields and septic tank waste

Still better than a customer service job though

Why wouldn't "all duties as assigned" come into play here?

Who normally cleans the restroom?

$2874/wk, about 150k a yr. What the fuck do you do exactly?

what's your job and what's the pay?

Labourer $18/h

Not me 22 drive a end dump
>get to work in the morning
>shoot the shit with mechanics
>get told where to go haul dirt to and from for the day
>shit post all day at work and loose money on meme hood

Pretty comfy desu

> Alarm goes off at 6:06am...
If I got up here, I'd get to work at 7am and leave at 3;30pm
> Snooze until 8:05am because I don't want to go to work
> Get to work around 9am
> Sit in my death cube doing nothing or working on projects that don't matter/project manager can't gather requirements properly
> No one to really talk to because they're afraid to be real people at work
> Go home around 5pm
> Sit in traffic for 45min
> Eat dinner... It's 7pm....
> Get ready to do it all again

:rip:

>go to work knowing there is nothing of any value I will do today
>watch roadkill for 6 hours, fuck around for 2
>go home and drink beer

Better than cleaning up shit at rite aid I guess but still not exactly satisfying use of my time.

...

Sure, it applies and a goon can be required to do it. What also applies is providing appropriate PPE for such a task, including outer garments, face shield, gloves and a hepatitis vaccination. Human waste is no fucking joke, and in a pharmacy (by definition, not a place that healthy people go and shit on the floor,) the risk of transmittable disease is far too high and OSHA has fined stores over and over for it. The simple act of making someone clean it up, once, without proper PPE is a $500 fine. The fine for retaliation due to an OSHA claim? $15,000 to OSHA, treble that to the complainant, PER VIOLATION.

Namely, if a manager actually fired you for not cleaning up shit without PPE, you make the claim to OSHA. OSHA comes in, validates, and the company takes a $15k hit, and you take $45k. Obviously it will have to go through adjudication, but I've never seen a court overrule OSHA's call when to legitimate workplace safety concerns.

I remember back in highschool me and this other kid used to have "piss wars" where we basically just pissed as much as we can on the floor every day, at the end of the year they announced on the loudspeaker that whoever was pissing on the floor will be expelled, they had to call in professionals, and that it was like a urine lake on the second floor bathroom.

Yes, and I'm the shill that tells your company you're overpaid and you should be lucky to have a job.

Can vouch. It's rough if you're private and urban.

I just started a new job. I like it. I came in during a time with a lot of company growth, lots of quarterly and annual obligations to take on, and tons of learning opportunities. Next month I get to take a week long $1500 course on the company's dime, and I'm getting paid as usual on top of that. Plus it's nice knowing that what I do helps people.

>>have a master's degree in engineering
>>working at McDonald's for $9/hr
I...I don't understand...

I'm taking the EMT course right now. No interest in working EMS, but it's good professional development front current job. Maybe it's just this one class but it's brutally fucking hard because of how perfectionist my instructors are. One of the most undervalued jobs in society for sure.

> had customer service job, was good at it
> work was ok, boss was nice
> at my yearly review he basically told me I had no future there, had maxed out my salary for the position
> become a huge piece of shit
> get fired for being a piece of shit
> decided to start teaching myself to code a few months early, start learning full time
> after six months learned enough to be a somewhat decent front end developer, got some freelance contracts and a full time contractor job
> another six months later found a full time gig with benefits where I was making more than 1.5x what I was as a service rep, plus mad money on the side from freelancing
> currently maxing my retirement accounts while still living on a decent wage
> boss works in another office, and am really good at what I do so I can come in a bit late and leave a bit early and no one cares

You too can change your life, pick a goal and stick with it. Even when you're depressed, even when people are doubting you. Do the work today not for now but for yourself six months from now.

Haha, fuckin' decent, bro...

> tfw taking NREMT Exam next week.
> WhatHaveIDone.png

Dude you should get the fuck out if you don't even know the shit you're breathing in. I knew a guy in the army who spent time guarding leaky oil fields in Iraq. The shit they used to stop the leaks destroyed his lungs completely.

>> at my yearly review he basically told me I had no future there, had maxed out my salary for the position
Why would he do this?

where you working user? I'm working in the immediate northern suburbs of NYC, it's been pretty crazy this past week or so with the ridiculous heat we've been having.

Because he wanted him to leave

>40+/hr
>get IT job
>waste most of my day on the internet
>company is all politics
>get asked to do less every day
>still keep ultra busy with personal weird projects
>boss loves them and then they get destroyed by politics
>realize that I haven't accomplished anything in months

Co-workers tell me to join them and check out. I can't do it. Everyday is an endless boulder push with my co-workers telling me to fail.

Everyday I worry that I won't remember how to work when I get out. Grass is greener I guess.

>be me, work for a unionized air-cargo company
>work unloading air trailers for 5-6 hours straight of heavy labor
>cargo cans weigh thousands of pounds and need to be pulled out and pushed onto roller dolly's
>everyone with the exception of management and a few people are miserable fucks
>aircraft loader watches hockey games on his iphone and calls everyone worthless while operating
>everyone in their mid 30s 40s have either a back, or ankle problem
>get my paycheck
>30% of my paycheck gets union dues taken out of it
>basically making under minimum wage

Fuck unions
>but user!!! you'll get full benefits in 1 year
Fuck it, better off working in non-union. Get jewed so hard for those benefits.

>>> at my yearly review he basically told me I had no future there, had maxed out my salary for the position
>Why would he do this?
because he could hire a newb to do same job less pay
and this

% of my paycheck gets union dues taken out of it
>>basically making under minimum wage
>Fuck unions
>>but user!!! you'll get full benefits in 1 year
>Fuck it, better off working in non-union. Get jewed so hard for those benefits.
this, I'm a student in michigan working at a small local grocery store part time for $9.85 an hour or so
I keep $7.4999 per hour, after taxes

part time, same job at meijers or kroger is $8.50 an hour (minimum wage) but you pay $3 per hour to the union, then you pay taxes on the full 8.50, so in the end you keep $3.50 per hour

and you have to be union at a chain store, they wont hire you unless you sign a contract stating you are ok with this
its the first thing they tell you at the interview

>work for small, family-owned furniture manufacturer.
>start out with basic computer stuff, eventually help with other projects and tasks
>now do like 3 different jobs across different departments
>pay capped at $40k/year, salary

It's not horrible but goddamn do I want to kill myself during the busy season. The ofice is all middle-aged people who can barely use excel.

Worst part is when I see job openings that are 1/3 of the work for twice the pay but bachelor's degree is required. Working on that but can't stand much more in the meantime.

*yaaaaaaawn* ahhh morning wagecucks

A good wage slave should be well slept and energized for the work week, however, which means no late nights for you this weekend!
And don’t forget, wagie! The clock is always ticking away, slowing taking away your precious few hours of freedom!

>programmer
>work for software company
>average pay
>great conditions
>health plan
>people are nice

The only downsides are the 1 hour commute and the fact that I couldn't give two shits about the end result of my work.

Sometimes I'm on the train and feel like quitting. I really need to find a way out of the 9-5, but I really don't know how. I guess I shouldn't be complaining much, but I can't see myself working like this on the long term, at least for something I don't even believe in. I need some fucking freedom.

I'm south of you - it's been hot this month with the bigwigs from your office sizing us up.

Hopefully they'll ship my job overseas. I've been praying for that for over a year now.

I don't believe this for a second. No way are they taking $3 out of your $8.50.

It's about right. In 2010 I worked at Kroger for a month until I realized I made $4.xx after taxes and dues.

This is how the economy works. Having a great degree doesn't entitle you to a good paying job.

Is it correct that it's an osha violation that my boss makes me clean the bathroom with only gloves everyday and I could get 15k out of this? Can I refuse if its not in the job description? (Cook) this is arizona where they can fire you for anything so im guessing not

Yep, this. They were paying me a lot more than they could pay an entry level person. Customer service isn't really a skilled job so I was easy to replace. It was a blessing in disguise though, I'm much better off now.

>Halfway through PhD in chemistry
>No idea what I want to do when I'm done
>Will be 'overqualified' for many entry jobs in other fields
>love/hate it, atm hating it
>At least I'll have some letters next to my name.....

dont believe it all you want, ive worked at both and recently interviewed at another meijer that said the same thing

unions rob new members since the old members are almost out of retirement funds

I worked at UPS and yeah, unions succ but depending on the job. I worked at 11/hr 25 hrs a week. 30 percent go to Union plus ten dollars

My nigga. Ised to haul rock in a 10 wheeler. Quarryfag. All i do is load end-dumpfags.

Protip. Dont ever quit and go on the road or something fucking stupid.

Stay local user. Youll thank me later.

Yeah that was me up above. UPS as well. Teamster's is a ripoff of a union. 31 dollars gets taken out from my paycheck for the union, fuck.

I'm sure there are unions that are good, but ours is ass. Rumor was that they were considering having part-timers pay for their insurance as well. Our union is just a yes-man for the company, they don't fight the company for our behalf, they help the company fuck them. Also, it's next to impossible to fire anybody, nobody even tries to work in a union, no reason to work harder if you are just going to get the same raises everyone else is getting.

Damn, thats just a terrible union.

Mine only takes 2 1/2 hours pay per month and theyre pretty great.

I already posted the answer to this. 1: Yes, you can. 2: You're required to contact OSHA. 3: At the point you file the complaint, that's when whistleblower protections come into play. 4: There has to either be a repeat of the same behavior OR retaliation against you for damages to come into play.

The goal isn't to make cash, it's to create a safe working environment. $15k might be nice, but it only goes so far when you're battling hepatitis.

You got gloves to clean the bathroom? Do you work in chain (mcdonalds, subway, Wendy)

>that degree
>that job

Come on, now. We both know there's a hell of a lot more to this story than "that's how the economy works."

There's no law saying you have to have an overtime rate. Sundays and bank holidays are still time and a half, though.

I'm still enjoying the extra money and the tears of people who signed up to bad contracts.

> They don't have dedicated cleaners

> Office drone life

> Paying union dues
> Ever
I'm non-union, and get all the benefits without paying them OR having them give my money to socialists.

Have fun with your no money, NEETcuck.
