I think we can all consider this the point where the split between old and new Nasu happened. He changed his entire outlook on the setting as a whole and started making massive contradictions and retcons that simply didn't fit at all with what he had previously written. It's also not surprising that it happen directly after Fate had become an enormous commercial success.
